I finish work at 10 pm tonight. Lucky for me the bottle shop closes at 11pm and is only a 30 min drive away.

Get home, watch replay.

If no replay on Foxtel, watch the Colonwood game again.

Then watch the replay of Watts' goal last week another 200 times while getting drunk

Go to bed some time tomorrow morning

Wake with hangover.

Eat box of Panadol

Toast with Vegemite

Maybe spew from hangover

Watch todays game..... maybe twice

Watch the Watts goal another 100 times while finishing bottle from last night

Probably spew again

If not in a coma, i might watch the replay again.

Recover on Tuesday while watching the replay (Maybe twice)

Life is good being a Dees supporter.

Not sure if crossed...but certainly straddling the line ... with momentum

Who is our midfield coach, Ben Mathews?

When Spencil went down and we had to play a makeshift ruckman, we were praying for the coaches to come up with a genius plan to win the clearances, knowing full well we would be smashed in the hitouts.

They have delivered, and then some.

Watching the game, it actually felt like we were the hunted,  with a struggling team below us throwing everything at us but not being willing enough or skilled enough. I haven't felt like that in a game for a very long time. The Dees were strong in every facet of the game, and worked so much harder than a lot of the Doggies players. In most of the one-on-ones, it instantly turned to our advantage as our players rushed in to outnumber, time and time again. Super impressed with our workrate. Having said that, Beveridge will be livid with their lack of intensity at times.

Perhaps most pleasing is the rise of our young guns. Salem, Hunt, Oliver, Viney, OMac, Hannan etc....

Bring on the Weagles.

Unbelievable coaching effort and execution of instruction.

We played as a unit the entire game and completely smothered the dogs game.

One of the best team wins I've witnessed.

We're equal 4th.

Well well! I managed to see the first half before my 2yo girls needed other forms of stimulation other than watching the footy (working on that). But they can now shout 'Go Dees' and think that Oscar McDonald is 'Macca Pakka' (parents of young kids will know what I mean) after repeated calls of 'well done Macca' from myself.

Gonna sit down after dinner and watch the 2nd half- it's gonna be sweeeet!

And holy crap, I think we may have arrived!!

CARN MELBOURNE!!!

I was at the ground today. The umpiring (in Melb favour) was horrible first half, but it was clear that there had been a lot of homework done and the structures have come a long way. Backline impressive and long time since I've said that.

The greatest defensive performance I've ever seen by a Melbourne side. So that's 30 years of going practically every week.

Talk about being proud of your club. I came into the game with very low expectations, but we were on from the first bounce and didn't drop our intensity at any stage for four quarters. That's what a four quarter Melbourne performance looks like. And wow!

Oscar McDonald had another terrific game. Hibberd, Jetta, Salem and Hunt were all brilliant. Frost serviceable. It's very rare you start by praising the defence in a game where you win by 10 goals, but our defensive unit was that good.

Our forwardline press was the best it's been, in collaboration with superb midfield defence.

Our spread from the contest was the best I've seen it too and our will to get numbers to multiple contests and outnumber.

Now to the midfield. Oliver, Viney Jones were brilliant. I don't care what the stats say, those three were superb.

I'm expecting a typical Melbourne loss next week, but one comment on our ability to play Etihad. Our game plan is totally conducive to the smaller, narrower confines of Etihad. Our zone clogs up space, but also allows us to turn defence quickly into attack. It'll be interesting to see how we go on the much bigger Domain Stadium.

But, go you mighty redlegs!!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
