If you google it, the only page that shows up is the big footy page I copied it from.

So in the history of the entire intranets, no one has ever put those letters together. They really do have their own language.

I keep replaying Watts's game sealer, honestly there is no one I'm happier that got to be the man at the end. I bet it even stung the Pies fans even harder, they give it to him more than any other Melbourne player for no other reason than he's a number one draft pick we trotted out all those years ago. I'd say they should move on but this is the same mob that boos Travis Cloke when it was the Pies that showed him the door! Logic and reason are not words in their vocabulary.

Might just go watch his goal again!

A pies supporting mate texted me "how much did you guys pay the umpires?" So I sent back " the exact amount you lot saved by not turning up to the third quarter"

highlighted how fragile the pies are. They didn't look any chance of stopping our run on

Surely Goodwin now knows not to play McDonald forward.

Most of us here have known this for weeks, let's see if the coaches are learning.

The last two game (GC and Pies) momentum has swung when we put TMac in the ruck and Pedersen forward. I was actually surprised we didn't start with that setup yesterday.

Why this team refuses to play 4 quarters is beyond me. Do they just expect to turn up and for it to fall our way?

Do we expect that we will still work our way back into games when we are behind? (we have been in every game this year)

For the sake of your supporters' physical and mental health, how about playing good football right from the get go then continuing to do so for the full 4 quarters Dees?

A win's a win, but i reckon i have had my life shortened by 5-10 years this season.

I've been able to bring along two mates to be Dees fans. A kiwi and a Pom.. after the game they both said a number of times Jesus it is stressful being a Melbourne fan... I said imagine your entire life being a fan, now you know why I'm crazy!!!

Wow the Pies midfield has some amazing talent, but so do we. 2 top midfields going at it all game. Wonderful, stressful, beautiful gutsy win!

You can have all the what ifs about missing players, umpires etc but we finally guts out a win on the G against a side that has come of 3 wins in a row.

Go Dees!!!

Worth laminating

To be honest, despite my comment earlier, a lot of Collingwood fans are pretty reasonable people.

I remember going for a beer at the Lexus Centre in 2014 and most of the people there were more than knowledgeable and could relate to where Melbourne were coming from.

The goofballs in that thread were set straight pretty quickly by their fellow supporters. Not dissimilar to here when one of the villains of Demonland start up.

I get the impression that after however many weeks without Gawn, this is the best combination for team structure and balance - Pedo rucks the first half, T-Mac rucks the second, they both play forward in the other half, and Watts stays forward the whole game.

It saps huge amounts of energy for these guys to keep jumping and smashing in against much taller opponents. Even someone with the tank of T-Mac can't keep it up for more than 2 quarters.

Me and my old man made the comment that every time the camera would pan to Buckley in the box he would lose his [censored] and punch the desk, we had a great chuckle! Yet everytime the camera would go to Goodwin he was cool calm and measured. And you see that kind of attitude flow onto the players in the 2nd half. Watts made the comment that they didn't even get a rev up at half time from the coaches just to stick to the basics and it will come.

Before the game this morning I watched the replay of last years QB match.  It was a fantastic performance, and the guys were clearly excited to play well and win on a big stage.

One thing I found interesting was Trengove.  I know Demonlanders say he's not fast enough etc etc, but his decision making is excellent and he is a beautiful kick who doesn't turn it over.  These are 2 things we could do with.

He turned it over vs Collingwood in the vfl

Well done wattsy!! I have always thought wattsy will become a better player as the team improves. It not an excuse, he is just that type of player eg relies on skill from his team mates.

Also massive thumbs up to omac. Unfairly criticised for such developing/young player. Sitting at the ground listening to melbourne ferals  (yes I know - to my surprise we have them) blaming him for every goal in the second quarter! Surely people must realise your backs are only as good as the way the ball comes in. More pressure in the second half and our backs (including omac) were terrific

Pies supporters should get their own backyard in order before they put this loss down to poor umpiring.

Start by protecting a 30+ point lead, especially against a team who's proven their ability to reel teams in from such leads over the course of the year

A great spectacle, very entertaining, and a close ending which we didn't fluff. Another step forward.

The umps didn't win it for us. They missed plenty all game, both ways.

We were misfiring on one cylinder in the first half. Close to slick champagne football, but ball handling just off. Picked it up big time in the third and C'wood's fell off. Last quarter they were tired, but so were we otherwise we would have run over them.

And who else to seal it but Jack? The universe is smiling.

I think that's about as well as C'wood can play whereas we have room to improve. I expect C'wood to fall away in the rest of the season due to the difficulty in maintaining their high intensity style. (They must work on their anunitotion if they are to challenge for the 8.)

Next 3 weeks will be testing, not just because of the 6 day breaks. We have a bunch of players carrying injuries.

Has to be said: Oscar was good. Looked slow and out of it in the first half; he really showed something in the second that he has rarely shown this year. His composure and judgement were like a 150-gamer. Well done Oscar. Maybe he'll be the good McDonald?

Pedo is a natural forward and Tom should only be sent there as an emergency measure.

Lewis looked complacent. Winning 4 flags and coming to us like the second coming of Christ does not mean you don't have to put in. No one can live on reputation forever.

I was impressed how we played out the last two minutes. Always felt like we were going to win. Collingwood threw everything at us and were ferocious. Great to see Watts on the goal line to save a goal straight after kicking the winner. A few weeks ago that goal square would have been vacant. Also having Lewis there gives us so much more of a clued up and structured defence when desperation pressure is on.

They did a little. But what about the Hoskin-Elliot dropped mark that ended up a goal. The ANB holding the ball decision when he didn't even have possession of the ball running off half back line. I'd say it evened out.

Which to be fair to Buckley he did acknowledge that on "Footy Classified".

There was a Collingwood fan who bagged Watts the whole match, calling him soft and saying he could not get a hard ball. I gave him a mouthful several times but he chirped through the whole game. Despite the excessive alcohol he ingested he refused to say anything when I turned round and gave it to him when Watts kicked the sealer.

Kicked 2.1. Ok, a soccer shot and a play on near the goal when he realised he had to do a set shot.

At the moment he can't kick a set shot however did offer more than a few others. I recall a period last year when Jeffy had problems with the set shot. We also forget that our co captain Viney is not that good on a set shot. Can only hope it clicks for him.

I'd love a job where i get paid more that a million a year like Tim Watson and still point out numerous times what a masterstroke it was putting Howe, who 'was a forward' up in the back line. Preparation must getting their mean make up done for the Channel 7 commentary crew. Embarrassing.

And what about the producers? What do they get paid? Do you think one might send a message tot he ear piece that roos played him off the hb for a season and a half and that he went to the pies so he could play up forward? Sheesh

That statement just flawed me. It makes you seriously question the knowledge of these guys especially as you say Howe made a big thing about how Buckley said he could play forward as against Roos playing him down back as the big reason for leaving Melbourne.

Takes the marks which looks great on TV but as we know with our own Oscar Mc it is what you do then that is most important. Would be interested to know his disposal efficiency over the years. Anyway.. wish him well in all games except against us !!

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
