Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Was watching at the ground today with an Essendon fan who used to work at the Bombers in the 80's and 90's.  He made an interesting comment about Oscar.  He said his development curve is very similar to a former Bomber premiership player in Kevin Walsh.  Gifted games early in his career because Sheedy saw something in him; lampooned and ridiculed by fans for his first three or four seasons; by the time he hit about 50-60 games he was really finding his feet.  Ended up a dual premiership player, multiple state player and All Australian.  I think Oscar showed today in the second half that he can be a very good AFL player.

Omac went from playing like Tom Gillies in the 1st half to Matty Scarlett in the 2nd half. What a turn around, i was very critical of him.

Harmes and Jetta won some critical one on ones that got it going forward for us.

Tracca loves a big stage as does Watts. How many times has Watts kicked clutch goals in close games??

Watts - Seriously underrated with the amount he does both forward and defensively. Has won us games both ends, numerous numerous times. He needs a standing ovation from Demonlanders...perhaps we can podcast this?

I clicked "like" - liked what you said other than the fact that you were actually talking to an Essendon fan ?

Btw... what's the go with March ??

Because every game pretty much feels the same this season with a few slightly different final-quarter outcomes - may as well merge the the threads into a giant Post-March Discussion. (Rhetorical: is there a match yet where we haven't been down by exactly four-to-five goals at some stage? ).

Yes we won I'm over the moon don't get me wrong but couldn't help but notice that once we gained the ascendency we blazed away too often instead of lowering our eyes to a forward leading targets. This in my opinion is whats holding us back to taking a massive step forward to the dizzy heights of the ladder.

Hard when you don't have marking targets up forward. I thought we've done exceptional in the first half of the season considering our outs.

Collingwood applied lots of pressure on the ball carrier too, they were very good today make no mistake.

Absolutely. There's a lot Jack does that I don't think the average fan notices. I have a feeling it was against the Gold Coast last year where he kicked the goal to get us in front and then took the contested mark in defence at the end.

Riewoldt is a fantastic player, but I feel that he's emulating Nick's style of football with great athleticism. His shot for goal he hit the post with came after big time running. Credit to the Seven commentator (can't remember who) but he called it because of his hard running, and when he had a shot where didn't have to run so hard for he nailed it. In fact I noticed when he kicked that goal in the 3rd he was really trying to gee up with teammates.

I think there's a lot of love for Jack at the club.

To all those in this thread going on about the umpiring I recommend you go back and watch these moments:

Early last qtr Collingwood (Howe?) player takes possession at the top of our goalsquare runs, does a don't argue, gets tackled, tries to kick, misses ball, definite holding the ball to Melbourne, not paid, certain goal missed.

Treloar taken by Viney in a tackle drops ball on ground, no disposal, HTB missed, picked up by Collingwood goes inside for Collingwood goal.

Levi Greenwood drops a mark in the centre square, not infringed, tackled properly by Viney, ball heading forward for Melbourne, either the dropped mark or a free paid and a FIFTY paid to Collingwood. Pies score when Dees would've had a certain score.

First quarter Watts taken out in a marking contest on the Wing, pies player takes the ball while Scharenberg barrels him over with what looked like a tackle in a marking contest without his eyes on the ball. Pies goal, no free for Melbourne.

There were many other holding the ball frees missed for us, soft high tackles paid to them at crucial moments and many other moments.

The Hibberd and Hunt ones should've been HTB, but they missed plenty to us as well. Also both managed to hit the ball so the argument is whether they threw it first and that has barely been paid for 5 weeks. Should've been HTB and we got the rub of the green on those two but so did they, many times, especially in the first half.

It was a magnificent gutsy win and to claim the umpires won it for us is ludicrous.

great game Dees! Being on Gawn, Hogan and the doggies!!!

Edit: Not to mention Oscar perfectly bodying a contested mark on the wing to have it reversed then a pies player does the exact same thing in our forward fifty.. NO FREE!!

Agreed mate, they were scragging and blocking us out if marking contests all day too. Don't get sucked in by the Pies whingefest the umps were pretty even all day.

Yes internally, I'm sure there are some flogs on this forum who will always see Jack unfashionable and pick holes in him... much like OMac

Just got home from the game

Petracca  came of age today and played a blinder. He showed everyone just how classy he can be. Just hope he keeps it up.

Watts there is no one I rather have the football than him. he is composed and rarely wastes it. When he ran into score the sealer he did it calmy and got the job done. Also he had the football smarts to stand on the goal line and thank god he did to touch that ball. By the way why did the pies boo him? also did any one else notice the magpie fans boo a lot?

Who was on Treloar? He seemed to just run around on his own all day but I thought we nullified Pendles and Sidebottom didnt have a bigger impact in the 2nd half.

also someone else raised it on here but the pies had it ot easy when they were kicking out from our behinds. How come we dont have a clear plan yet? Rawlings has been with us for over 5 years now.  Work something out.

But in the 2nd half a lot of players stepped up. Viney got into the game, O mac played a lot better and we stopped handpassing and actually kicked it. I didnt panic at 1/2 time because I knew we could play better.

Oh and to the pies fans whinging about the umpiring, both teams were on the end of bad decisions and you were 28 points up and didnt go on with it.

Just went to the Collingwood big Footy post-mortem thread. Highly entertaining !  I thought I would make a small, sensitive comment for their edification.   I said " Collingwood played well today. They were just outclassed."

They have taken in good spirits. Except the one who replied " **** off back to the snow muppet "  ⛷

Should've told him it beats the heck out of waiting in line at Centrelink for his fortnightly dole check!

We could have easily lost today with different umpiring decisions and only Demonland would notice.

I hate reading this rubbish. Some of you people need to take a look at yourselves.

We pulled this back and it had nothing to do with the umpires. We have been umpired out of games so many times this year, all I can say about today is that we had a fairly even share of both good and bad calls.

Jack Watts... wow! I love it when Jack plays like that, he owned that goal from the second he took it forward of the wing. I screamed my heart out, I don't remember loosing it like that for quite some time.

Pies fans, Jesus. Calling ball before a player even takes possession, it beggars belief. What a pack of whingers, makes beating them all the sweeter.

I thought we had a good run from the umps personally. Couldn't give a [censored] though, suck eggs Collingwood.

I have watched my fair share of games where I thought the umps cost us the game, such as vs North in Tassie last year, so I'm not complaining about today.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
