Pre game Howe And Dunn were talking to most of our defensive group. Oscar ran over to Dunn and gave him a Dannaher-esc hug.

Haha. I missed that. Was mostly noticing a couple extra unheated but unnecessary shoves in the pack on Dunn by Jones and Viney toward the end. Oscar ran over to hug Lynden? Embarrassing - unless he whispered in his ears, 'cheers for the spot, old chum . . . p ' at the same time.

Made me feel that Dunn must have been so good for him. The work he's done for the aflw at Collingwood as well makes me think he has coach written all over him.

I must admit I didnt really pay attention at the end on who went and spoke to how and dunn. I was watching the boys celebrate the win. But dunn only left last year so Im sure he has some mates at melbourne. But Lynden its ok Hibbard is a fine replacement.

Viney gave Dunn a great shove when the game was in the bag with 30 seconds to go

ANB was quietly good today, flying under the radar a bit - 22 touches, 6 tackles.

Pity about the 50% efficiency. At half time he was around 40% DE.

Like the way he goes about it, but if he could only tighten up his disposals ...

Home now, drunk, hoarse and emotionally exhausted. Great win!

Was standing behind the bottom level seats at the Punt Road end and was hugging and high "fiving" random, fellow Demons fans after the last Watts goal! We were absolutely bloody ecstatic!

How tragic for the precious petals. They should stay away from AFL. It's not good for them to subject themselves to such meanness. Jack High or snooker might be more their style.

Will be very interesting to see where Hogan fits into the forward line when he comes back.

What is his optimum role..?

Absolutely. There's a lot Jack does that I don't think the average fan notices. I have a feeling it was against the Gold Coast last year where he kicked the goal to get us in front and then took the contested mark in defence at the end.

Riewoldt is a fantastic player, but I feel that he's emulating Nick's style of football with great athleticism. His shot for goal he hit the post with came after big time running. Credit to the Seven commentator (can't remember who) but he called it because of his hard running, and when he had a shot where didn't have to run so hard for he nailed it. In fact I noticed when he kicked that goal in the 3rd he was really trying to gee up with teammates.

I think there's a lot of love for Jack at the club.

I admit it gave me the [censored] a bit when he was left out of the Pre Season games because of some imagined misdemeanor.

Would rather someone cleaned up Howe, only good should come to Dunn.

You'd never find Howe in a position where even the slightest amount of physical contact would be coming his way. That's the difference between the 2. That's why i will always have respect for Dunny, and why i will never have any for Howe. He's soft as butter and remains a massive downhill skier.

What was all that booing about? Do they still think it's 2009 and he can be intimidated by mental or physical intimidation? Or is it that he is something most of them could never be: handsome, intelligent and athletic?

Or in this case, a winner :)

Agree 100%. The coaching has been good in the way that they have made the necessary changes to turn games. The thing that worries me is the seeming lack of work that we are putting into the opposition prior to the games. we have not been able to play games on our terms from the first bounce.

Kind of agree but don't think think wasn a master stroke. The same thing happened in a few other games. Start tmac in the ruck. He's been awful up forward apart from a cameo against the Crows. At least in the ruck he can use his huge tank to run the other ruckman around.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
