Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Just imagine how good it will be to have him in the side as a forward ruck once max returns. Could have made a difference in some of those early games over weid.

I agree to a point but Pedders didn't have match fitness, we persisted with Weids one too many weeks for mine.

Will be interesting to see what happens when Spencer is back, Pedders is really working hard and I'd like to find us a spot for him. But if Weiderman starts to improve it will be difficult, Pedders is ahead in my book but the coaching staff appear to be more interested in getting games into Sam.

Probably his best game ever.

Like a fine wine is Pedo.

On the strength of the last three games, in my view he is unarguably in our best 22 and will hopefully be given an extended run even after Gawn or Spencer returns.  Application, persistence and loyalty should be rewarded.

Loving the Bear's work.

He is getting towelled up badly at the centre bounce but that was always going to happen. It's the fact that while he may lose the hitouts, he is back in there hitting bodies and insuring that the hitout amounts to nothing.

I will say I included him in the initial bracket of mind boggling acquisitions from the 2013 preseason. He has come on brilliantly since 2014 and fully deserves a new contract (and a place in the side for the rest of 2017).

Cam has stepped up so far this season on the field and in the comparative stat team averages.

  • up to Rnd 21 last season - Ranked 28th with an average score of 2.51
  • So far this season - Ranked 8th with an average score of 3.73 and sitting in our top 10

Completely agree, have never understood why the coaches haven't liked him. I reckon he has played a good role in most games he had played in. Takes good contested marks, pretty accurate and long kick for goal. Always makes a contest in the ruck. Dishes out good bumps and sticky tackles. Anyone questioning his courage just hasn't paid attention.

These have been my observations of him since 2014. Somebody posted a criticism that included the fact that he had never kicked more than 14 (or maybe 16),  goals in a season for us. He did that in 2014, the only year he played enough games to kick substantial numbers of goals, and the important thing about that year is that our top goalkicker only managed 20.

He wasn't a good listener, bordering on uncoachable. Has consciously changed that this year and apparently is trying to do more of what they ask including diet and fitness.

Explains a bit .

He WAS definitely a case for Jenny Craig  when he rolled up from North .and I mean rolled.

His added mobility is the exciting part about the career he has left.

As deaf to advice as he was,he is a pretty good clubman and seems to enjoy meeting all the fans and is an affable bloke.

I Wish him luck and longevity .

He was bloody good last year too so aside from his weight things haven't changed that much, just opportunities.

Cam has surprised many - his intensity and his pressure and second (and third+) efforts have lifted the team.

Not the most talented on our list, most would agree,  but this year in particular has shown himself to be one of the hardest working and courageous of our rapidly developing midfield.

Pleased to see Cam play so well and I hope he gets another contract, I think he will after the club has seen how dangerous it to only have two genuine rucks.

You're right about his intensity, it was good, the one area he has been poor in in the past is drifting in and out of games, the ruck forces him to concentrate for the whole game and it shows. Well done Pedo.

If this is how a "spud" can play, I want a few more in the side. Perhaps those that called him that on here could suggest a few more around the AFL that we could draft at years end?

We did pick up some spud whose own club didn't rate better than a 4th round pick, in just this recent draft.

That reminds me, Garlett is having his best season ever. Thanks Mick!

Seeking our Stuart Dew? I wonder what role we most need to fill - is Ryan O'keefe considering pulling the boots back on?

Pedo and Tommy Mac in the forward line, will help out Hogan and Gawn when he returns

Gives you everything, every single week.

Plays within his limitations, but pushes himself to fulfil a role. His goal kicking has been great this year too.The one he struck perfectly from outside 50 on Saturday night was a beauty!

Very impressed with him, and his job in the ruck. He's been invaluable!

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
