Half back: Garland, Grimes, Salem

Pretty well our first-choice HB line.

Not sure how much any of these are preventable. Note that the hamstrings etc. are all across the younger players. Short of not playing or training, not sure what more could/should be done, it just takes time for bodies to build up to the load of AFL.

Does seem to be a league-wide problem though, there are more than a few teams with injury lists that are as long/longer than ours.

Misson needs to go. Not just because of injuries but also for our lack of conditioning to be able to run out quarters.

Stkilda at 3 makes me feel a whole lot better about last weekends game, they must be pretty [censored] if that's close to the best they've got

Gee, Pedersen being out for the season is bad luck for him and us.

His contract runs out this year so he won't have another chance to cement his spot.

I was really hoping he would be re-sgined soon as he played well and has good chemistry with Hogan.

Hope we still sign him.

Gutsy effort by Grimes (like Garland last week) to play out the game with a broken thumb.

Gives Dawes a chance to show if he has learned to actually mark the ball and kick goals. Bloody hell though Pedersen out for the season!!

The report said Pedersen fractured AND broke his wrist. Don't think I've heard that happening before.

I reckon he has done enough to earn another season on the list too.

Obviously this means we have two forced changes, with Dawes the likely in for Pedersen but not sure who they swap for Grimes. Could Harmes possibly get promoted at some stage?

Fractured = broken. No idea what they are talking about.

Pedersen and Grimes too - must all be Missen's fault. After all if he didn't get them fit enough to get on the park these fractures would never happen.

A StKilda mate of mine said post game "we basically had our best side in and our 2 best players on the day are north of 30. I know which team I would rather support".

Doesn't really help us at all.

Another informed contribution.

I feel for grimes. I thought he was pretty good on sunday. I can handle a long injury list but not when its made up of very very good players who would be in the starting 22.

The worst thing is we are only 1/2 way thought the season.

Geelong at 16, no excuses this week!

Feel bad for Grimes, bar the PA game he has played rather well in his limited outings.

What the actual [censored] is this injury list?

Grimes broken thumb? WHEN? HOW?

Ugh, the injury list is truly out of control.

At least Garland should be back post-bye

Do we have any defenders left?

Brutal. No idea how people can directly correlate this with Misson's performance though, definitely not a position people should be baying for blood outside the club. Go watch some of the other clubs' injury list videos (I've watched them because of bloody AFL fantasy) and see if you want to trade them in. Even if we can do better, it's no point wasting energy considering it now, it won't be changing and it'll look a whole lot different in hindsight at the end of the year.

if you look at geelong's 16 it includes 5-test, 2-tbc and 3-1/2 weeks, so not as bad as it first looks

but i don't think they will rush anyone back just for us

Exactly. Grimes breaking a thumb and Pedersen breaking a wrist are out of our control. Garland breaking his hand last week is the same. Plenty on that list were unpreventable.

Considering he'll be out for about 6 weeks and will then have to return via Casey, i wonder if Grimes has played his last match for Melbourne?

No.

Yep!! My main beef is how Salem if managed correctly, can injure his opposite Hamstring!??

Grimes broke his thumb when he punched the changeroom wall after the game !!

Please, for the love of all that is holy, tell me you are taking the piss.

Ah yes if true then ..............................................................

We are cooked!

Can this be verified??

From Misson:

“[Grimes] broke his thumb in a spoiling situation and he had surgery yesterday (Monday) afternoon.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’
