Caro name-dropped Goodwin as the potential senior assistant...and thus the future coach at the MFC.

Source is RandB on BF....

For clarity, Simon Goodwin. Current senior assistant at Essendon, former Adelaide captain.

In the texts, from July last year, Goodwin reportedly asks Dank to supply him with "the good stuff" and "good gear."

"Don't forget the good gear mate," Goodwin reportedly writes on a text sent to Dank on July 5, 2012.

One week later, Goodwin reportedly writes: "Sorry mate forgot to see you yesterday. Am heading to Adelaide today can you please bring some of the good stuff in buddy.

I don't like this.
I am leery of Bomber Thompson because of his game plan but I am more leery of Hird's yes men underlings.

ahhhh Caro ..... :unsure::rolleyes:

Bomber would have a good sense if he has what it takes and I assume he would let roos know if he is.

Ticks a few boxes. Still young. Experience as an assistant, including a good stint under a premiership coach in bomber. Has he remained in the game since he retired playing?

Goodwins Law

We have one good win followed by a few beltings before the Demonland keyboard coaches become absolute Nazis.

Correction, Biff.

Goodwin's Law: if an online discussion goes on long enough, sooner or later someone will compare something to Andy Goodwin.

Probably Julie Goodwin from MasterChef - assistant coach of the canteen.

Now you are talking. Diet is very important. Her lamingtons could be a winner.

Damo Barrett confirmed that a big chance for assistant coaching next year and possibly take over from Roos.

Now he's guessing, a big chance...so was Ling a month or so back.

So just when did he start work with Jacques Merde at EssUndone?

Exact dates would be very critical were he to be considered at all, and if hh's text message quotes are true then he must be avoided at all costs.

I wouldn't think you'd negatively judge a coach for being sold some anti aging or weight loss wonder drug when you've already been conned in by a guy who's apparently doing miracles with your players.

I mean we've all drank the Paul Roos media savvy and hair without too much trouble. Maybe give Goodwin a chance.

Think about it if you were an assistant coach and Hirdy has brought Dank in to fine tune the players with 'evidence based' and 'cutting edge' science. Would you toss him out or would you take a few free supplement injections?

He was a fantastic player. He's had a valuable apprenticeship in what not to do under Hird in regards to off field stuff but also seen a pretty decent bomber side under Hird, he's then had a year under one of the recent great coaches.

The assistant coach pool is pretty low at the moment. I wouldn't write Goodwin off.

'Bring the good gear'...

Honestly, I don't care if he wins but if he can't get us going after Roos leaves he will have a torrid time as we will turn on him quicker than the laxative effect of the 'good gear' he was on...

That's the problem/risk/issue with the next coach - he needs to be able to withstand some pressure. Roos being around the club in an advisory capacity will help but won't shield that person entirely.

Goodwin would be on the back foot immediately.

Exactly

There is only one prospect that I can see and his contract with Hawthorn will be up by then.

The rest are apprentices.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
