Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Demon Injuries 2017 season

We did a very hard pre season...

The injury list was down last season and has jumped up this year. Good luck/good planing..bad luck/bad planning?

When you start to add up the soft tissue/overuse type injuries then maybe you need to look at the training methods.

Contact:
Tyson
JKH
Wagner
Joel Smith
Vince
??? Hibberd - reported someone stepped on his heel
Garland - not sure if it was contact but ACL's are kind of freak leg meets ground and buckles injuries a lot

Soft tissue:
Garlett
Gawn
McKenna
Hulett

Stress injuries:
Frost
Vanders
Kent

I'd say bad luck at this stage. To have 3 important players miss time due to stress injuries isn't great but at the same time they seem like 3 injury prone guys and it's hard to avoid that. A couple of young guys doing soft tissues isn't great but it happens. Gawn's really the big injury of the season so far and it's a shame his back tightened up and probably had a role in the hamstring injury. So it's really worth questioning the management there.

Devastating blow, but Spencer will be a solid replacement IMO. He's been waiting for this chance for a long time and his endeavour and aggression can't be knocked.

#penciltime is now trending on twitter.

I take solace in the development of Stefan Martin at Brisbane. For a season and a half after we traded him he could not get a game until Leunberger got injured and has not looked back.

I don't think The Dees will risk him again this year! Spencil and King to front up!

what?? what on earth would make you think that? If its 12 weeks then he would be back with like 7 rounds to go... maybe if there was only 1/2 rounds to go and we were out of contention they wouldnt risk it but with 7 left he will play.

Jake will step up and Pedo as well but they will never give us the edge that Max provides. In my opinion our best and most critical player. Sigh!!!!

I am basing my case on some experience in these matters.I was a Phys Ed teacher with a Sports Exercise and Science background. All I'm saying Is that depending on the severity of the tendon tear be it grade 1,2 or 3 will have a large bearing on his recovery. I may be conservative with my esttimation and I don't know the specifics of the injury but a hamstring insertion/origin tendon tear is a bad injury, especially for a big man, given the action of the biomechanical movements and pressure on that muscle tendon group. Happy if any Phsios or Docs that are posters want to varify or offer alternative views.

Let just hope the surgery goes well and he is back playing sooner than later!

Jason Johanissen came back from a similar injury last year and won the Norm Smith....he'll be back if we are in with a chance of finals for sure

Nick Riewoldt did it in 2010 - played off in two Grand Finals that year!

Yeah I think especially for someone his size and the player that jumps more then any other position I'm worried that he might need longer.

Great interview by Max on thclub website. Max at his dry best...

Confirming his surgery tomorrow: "I have to fast from midnight, which I'm not happy about. I'll have a big meal at 11.59"

On being asked if Jack Watts was pumping himself up after rucking out the game: "With 9 hit outs? I wouldn't think so!"

Gawn getting injured was a fairly high possibility, given his past history of two knee reconstructions and his past hamstring injuries. The club could perhaps have prepared better for this contingency. Let's hope Spencer can back up his form in the preseason competition. Also, we do now have some good midfielders who can shark the opposition ruck's taps if they set up well. All is not lost for this season. Another high quality tall ruck man wouldn't go astray in the drafting/trading for the future though!

Terrible devastating news for a player who was set for another huge year, and is really a very unique player who will be really hard to cover.

Having said that, Spencer is an adequate centre square ruckman, and he has a golden opportunity to actually kick start his career. It's now or never for him, and from all reports, he is in good shape, and has had a good pre-season hitout.

I believe our midfield is good enough to deal with this loss, it's the stuff Max does around the ground that is going to be difficult to cover.

It poses the question of how hard do we try to  keep spencer at the end of the year doesnt it.  We'd in BIG trouble without him on our list,

My biggest worry is Spencer gets injured quite a bit too, touch wood he can stay fit for the most important stint of his career. If he goes down we are [censored].

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
