Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Jack Viney 200 Games

Pound for pound the hardest player in the AFL.

His career is now sitting in the club Legend tier.

I look forward to telling my grandkids one all about him.

Just like his old man improving in the later years of his career. Jack has always been good but last few seasons have been great. Jack like his dad improved his kicking after many years of being a bit dodgy. Todd got his first All Australian in his 10th year and Jack should've got the nod last year in his.

You can add me to the "Jack Viney made me cry" thread - one or two tears after watching that. I know Jack will play his 200th the same as his first 199 - there is just no other way.

I started crying the moment the voiceover guy started talking. 😑Oftentimes these intros are cringe, especially when they’re bottom of the barrel stuff, featuring a player for the sake of featuring a player. But this one is powerful and meaningful.

Spewing Jack’s 200th isn’t at the ‘G. I’ve had quite a few fans saying how much they’d love to be there for it. But if we win this match, that won’t matter so much. ❤️💙

Jack should have got an AA Jacket in ‘21 for just his Grand Final performance alone. He was the extractor during “Bang x4”

And fearless workhorse when we were battling for control of the game back as well.

Far better player than Sellwod and he got 6 AAs.

But then I don't see Jack as being the type that wins so many popularity points with umpires or the AFL - that's the beauty of him.

Congratulations Jack - love your work.

Just an absolute beast of a player.

One thing I distinctly remember that Todd was renowned for (assides from being as hard a nails), was for being a consummate professional in his training and preparation and I get the sense that has well and truely rubbed off on Jack as well.

It's like the kid was born and raised to be a gladiator or perhaps like a Spartian warrior for the Melbourne Football Club.

What I love about Jack, apart from his toughness is that he has never rested on his laurels. He's always looked to improve on his weaknesses

His tackling,

He used to get cited so much for his hits remember, now with his judo / grappling skills, he just drags them down and wraps them up. I'm sure he still hurts them.

His disposal,

his work on his disposal and forward work around the goals has transformed. He's that much cleaner with his disposals and attacking work now.

As @Superunknown mentioned to me last night, he lost the captaincy but never sooked about it, just kept on leading on the field.

He's not a Gawny type club man, he just goes out there and fights in the trenches every game.

He's carried the team on his back so many times to keep us in games.

We are very lucky to have him and it's a joy to watch him give 100 percent week in week out.

Thank you Jack Viney

The true mark of Jack is how he took his captaincy demotion.

Happy to lead the same way, continued as vice, never sooked and re-signed a year or so later long term.

That is leadership.

Expecting a big game from him in his 200 th.

Hot of the heels of Tracca playing a ripper.

Which was hot of the heels of Clarry playing his best.

Not worried about Ports midfield.

They should be sweating about ours.

Just one example of Jack’s awesomeness…

At Gosch’s the players walk from the rooms to the ground in ‘dribs and drabs.’ Jack was walking with Shane aka Smacca (she says with reluctance). I had brought a jumper for Shane to sign and when Jack saw the brand new 23 he raised his eyebrows and smiled. BUT… he waited for a group of about 10 of the boys to catch up then loudly said, “Look, it’s got your number!” I just KNOW he did this deliberately and I also know it worked because Shane usually has a small signature. Not so small this time…

Tough, Courageous, Loyal, most importantly a Premiership Player.

Congratulations Jack. Onwards to 250 and above in the  🔴🔵

He has passed all tests, improved his contributions to the team every year, is now a longer-term journeyman for our benefit. Well done, Jack. Heart and soul of our Club and a perfect fit for Max, Tracca, Clarry and ANB as a driver, experienced hand and talent. His sacrificial bravery and its 'team concern' forms a strong part of AFL history, progressive team improvements and sets benchmarks of what it is to be a Melbourne Football Club diamond.

Just going to nod to the fact that Jack Viney is superbly committed to fair play while also being so damn hard. He isn't into the behind-the-play sniping or any of the rubbish stuff, he is just pure hardness.

I do wish that promo voice-over guy would take some Coloxyl, though. It's just hrrrnnnnghh rrrgh nnnnnnngh from him every time.

The single most wrong I've ever been in supporting footy is thinking we should have let him walk to Geelong and give Brayshaw more minutes.

Last 100 games has been outstanding. Wouldn't have gotten to where we are without Jack.

Jack is a legend, who has played a huge part in dragging our great club out of the doldrums, to where we sit today.
Thanks Jack.  Long may the opposition continue to cower at the sight of your shadow.

Very hard to sum Jack up in a few sentences I loved the Ch7 promo for his 200th game. Been a Dee since he could walk and talk, we knew in our hearts that he was going to be ours and he has emulated and surpassed the deeds of his dad Todd, one of our loved former heroes. Jack now talks the talk and walks the walk.

Good luck Jack on your 200th and May there be many more for us to enjoy and celebrate.❤️💙💕

Congratulations Jack hugely underrated by most footy fans other than those wearing red and blue

Every supporter is proud of the way you go about it. Ferocious at the contest and 100% effort for 100% game time

Keep up the great work and hopefully another cup waits for you next time at the MCG

Jack has surely reached club legend status already.  Never say die, incredibly hard but fair.  His own hard work has improved his “genetically poor” kicking to now be very good (as did Todd).
His team mates must just love having him on the field with them - relentless and leads by example.

Thanks Jack for all you have already done for our club and our fans.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
