I’d assume they already have their coach all but signed.

Dimma will enjoy the Gold Coast Sun.

AFL is a pretty grubby business so wouldnt be surprised if negotiations are well under way. Did tricky Gil and scruffy Dill know?

Chris Scott quote....".being an AFL senior coach is not a very good job"  Dew says HI.

I think that's most unfair. Who knows how he would have gone if he'd come to the MFC? Different players, different recruiting set-up, different board, different supporters. For all we know (and we'll never know, of course), he might have coached us to three Premierships by now.

100%. Dew was in a very tough spot, trying to turn around a catastrophically poor club culture when any player who wanted to be professional had the ready option to move out of there without guilt because everyone knew the 'why' was legit.

I wonder if even a coach the quality of Paul Roos would be able to turn that around without already having the authority of a premiership to contain the gripers.

sliding door moment when the Swans would not let Roos bring him to the Dees as his successor. We dodged a bullet there.

Huh, we dodged a bullet?

Reading this forum, the jury is STILL out on Goodwin 🤷‍♂️

Hard to know from the outside but I actually think they are improving and he's a bit unlucky.  Most developing sides struggle away from home but they have shown their best can mix it with the best (and they have lots of talent coming through).

Surely they want to pounce on hardwick after regretting not being in the race for Clarkson last year.

He'll need a break but if Dew is interested in being an assistant we should definitely look into it - surely we won't have the same coaching group next year.  His close relationship with many of the suns players wouldn't go astray either!

As Whately said this morning  the Gold Coast is where national sporting teams go to die..

Will never be anything. Sad that they will just keep sucking cash out of the afl who won't admit a mistake.  They say it added viewers with extra games.

I have never knowingly watched a sun's game on TV played up there. Even against the mighty Dee's.

Lucky St Kilda have won the draw. I do get sick of clubs backing their coach only to sack them a week later.

St Kilda are next up to play Gold Coast. It might not be so lucky for them because often teams play better first up with a new coach.

Yes, although appointment of Hardwick may also have the effect of players wanting to stay under the “master coach”.

Thatcalled the Messiah complex. Like when Barass came home.

Hardwick will only succeed with the likes of Gale Balme O'Neill etc around him.

Great coach but like all of them it's a whole package needed.

In 21 we had yze chocco

pert roffey who stayed the course with Goodwin. Plus the best skipper in 57 years. And a recruiting A Grader.

I dunno. All things considered I didn't think he he did a bad job in the last couple of seasons. Always losing players. Built a crazy good young midfield.

In two years, GC will be the best team in it.

Only if they get much fitter.

Really feel for Dew. I reckon he has built a solid culture in the past couple of years and the Suns overall effort and team play is better than it's ever been.  They are closer to finals than anytime in the past 10 years and are without their best player.

Aside from the Pies loss they have been solid all year and are finally getting young players signed up.

I predict this move will cause more issues than it solves. The players will be furious. At least let the man coach the rest of the season

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
