Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Bluey have you been watching much of the Casey games of late?

Tomo yes but Rosman & Laurie are a fair way off (if they get there and im not saying they wont at some stage.... certainly won't be this week though).

Baker is about a 10 to 1 shot for a guernsey me thinks but hey, you never know!  Not many other options for a Lingers fill in if he doesn't get up.  I reckon he'll get up 😁

Interesting that Weid has been thrown around again.

Not sure if trying to fill a spot or hide him, possibly a bit of both as he was ineffectual in all roles.

BUT  I reckon his biggest problem is a confidence one. He plays like he doesn't want to get in the way and seems to be in the wrong spot most of the time.

I still reckon he can make it as he has played some good matches when he has had an identified role as key forward or ruck. He worked well with Brown in the Casey team when they rolled around each other as equals. Now that he is seen as the reserve for Brown, Tmac, Max or Jacko he seems uncertain what to do.

id say to him make yourself the significant player, lead into space and demand the ball. Don't be static,  keep moving and leap into contests with the opposition, or into packs only with momentum. Don't wait for the ball to come to you, attack the ball. Wether he needs to do that at Casey again or for mine he does it by telling his premiership winning teammates that that is what he is going to do to join them and confidenty proving it in the ones.

BUT whichever unless he steps up in confidence I regret he may be another with promise who just doesn't make it.

Goody on SEN said we will get back all of Langdon, McDonald, Harmes and Salem this week. Didn't specify if Salem would come back via the VFL or not.

Unfortunately for Sam, other than a handful of games, he has never shown much “confidence”. And if it is the case that he he is unsure of what to do out there, then that in itself is a huge problem for someone in their seventh year. It is becoming clearer every time he plays that he seems unable to make that jump between VFL and AFL. Time for the future, not the past, Van Rooyen should be given opportunity before Weid.

If Petty is out along with May, I'm more than comfortable for T Mac to play down back along with Tomlinson who appears an obvious in. T Mac is an excellent one on one defender who is hard to be out marked.

Of course allowing T Mac to go down back  is predicated on BBB and Weid having more than 3 possessions between them, and dare we say it, Brown kicking a goal or 2 which is what we brought him in for from North.

I’d just bring Tomlinson in but I’d say T Mac will be needed forward with the way Weed performed on the weekend .

Would normally agree but 3 months of no footy or match fitness puts a big ? on that. Wouldn't be surprised if he gets a half or 3/4 of a game at Casey before coming in the following week.

Not looking good.  Injuries are taking a toll across the club - Only 11 melbourne players available for Casey today.   Only D.Smith and Thomlinson had stats that would in any way suggest a promotion.

Tough next 3 weeks with lots playing sore and until some come back from injuries.  Great the bye is coming up.

Turner says “hello”. Was clearly one of the best players for Casey.

As much as Turner was close to BOG yesterday it was only his 3rd game back from injury.

I would like to see him back up another performance like that in the VFL especially against a team with AFL listed KPF's.

He definitely tracking in the right way though!

One of Brown or Weideman will most likely come out for McDonald pending the fitness of Petty. If Petty misses due to injury, McDonald to play back and Brown and Weideman get a reprieve.

No Weed. I'd prefer to see Joel Smith in there, up forward (if available). If Majak can play, he's thoroughly worth a try, as well on two fronts: Height, Marking, Physical Presence, Lining up the  big sticks for a goal, and Rucking duties to the smalls (that would include protection for them from the  Swans' defenders.

Seven years alongside notably well-pronged forwards and greatly improved ball transfers into the hot zone with noted supports from both smalls and mobile 'bigs'. It ain't a confidence thing at all, it is a skill deficiency.

Obviously the big 4 come in, Tmac, Salem, Ed and Harmes (if ready) plus Tomlinson who Goody has already flagged. Id say 5 changes is probs the biggest amount of changes for some time just as a side note.

The outs compounded our structure and watching it live, for the first time in a while, players looked lost, especially down back, just interesting to observe. Think Spargo playing higher didnt help fwd connection. Get back to basics this week. Contest, clearance and strong defense. that will open up the fwd line.

Gee lets think hard???

May goes down, Petty does an ankle, TMac not playing and their talls are marking everything that is going their way.

Can't for the life of me think of why Weid was sent down back.

Maybe because he was ripping it up in the forward line.....

We don't gift games and with Tmac coming back ,Probably won't happen but I'd be happy to see Majak given a go. He has been there 2 years, better ruck than Weid has played back for extended periods at North and has athletism to play on different types. Also a better presence than Weid if forward.

Langdon, Harmes, Salem and T Mac should all come in.

Salem to come in and play a role on limited minutes. He is needed. His ball use and the energy he brings is needed.

We need to get back to playing our system and that requires players playing their best positions. Gusand Langdon back to a wing, Salem on a flank, Spargo to half forward.

I expect a big response from Max and Luke this week. They were embarrassed on the weekend and that's two down weeks in a row for Max.

Stand up, it's a Saturday night game and I want a response.

If petty injured Weed stays in. T Mac to play down back

the 22 will look better next week despite May out

Do we have any info on if Petty is likely to get up and play?

assuming Petty is just a bit sore i'd go with

Out: May, Melksham, Weideman, Bedford, Dunstan

In: Tommlinson, McDonald, Langdon, Harmes, Salem

Potentially Trent Rivers becomes the Sub?

He's been out for 11 games. As much as I'd love him back in the side, you don't want him blowing up in the last quarter with the game in the balance.

I'm assuming Petty misses next week under worst case scenario.

Langdon in for Melksham

T Mac and Tomlinson in to play May and Pettys role.

Harmes in for Bedford. Stiff on Bedford, but he needed to do more than just the two nice goals he kicked.

Dunstan drops out of the 22.

If Petty plays next week, then T Mac goes forward and either BBB or Weid get dropped. BBB might need to get some form for Casey. It worked for T Mac.

Any chance Jackson can take a contested mark for someone of his height?

Busy week for Match Committee this week. There's a real chance we might see one or two new faces against Sydney, depending on who's ready to return. Imagine, for example, if none of McDonald, Langdon, Harmes, Salem, Petty and May are fit to play? We shouldn't really be playing Melksham or Weideman but might need to. I could  also see players such as Laurie or Rosman getting a chance, if they've been playing well enough for Casey.

My best guess is that May and Melksham will go out for McDonald and Langdon (and Dunstan as medi-sub). If this happens, one of Weideman or McDonald will have to play in defence.

Edit: Just saw the post that said that Goodwin on radio said all of Salem, Harmes, Langdon and McDonald will be good to go. If Salem plays, does Brayshaw go back to the wing, in which case Rivers stays? Or does Rivers have a rest and we keep Jordon on the wing? I'd suggest keep Bryahsaw in defence given that Jordon has consistently been one of our best in the last few weeks.

Happy for BBB to stay in, yes he's had 2 ineffective games in a row, we fell apart on the weekend, forward connection non-existent  and were missing several key cogs. If he's still struggling after everyone has come back, then maybe get him to Casey for a week or two.

I'm not sure everyone understands how important a fit TMAC is to our forward structure, I'd be surprised he if he doesn't start in the forward line. His engine and mobility are invaluable. Can go back if absolutely has to.

BBB worst game for a Dee, stunk last few weeks. Weid another week for me.

Franklin is out so we maybe bring in Tomlinson to play on L McDonald. Lever to play loose and one on one depending on circumstances and the 2 rucks just float back. Chance of rain also so a tall defensive unit may not be necessary. I'm also assuming Petty has a rest.

In Harmes, Langdon, Tomlinson, TMac, Salem

Out: May, Petty, BBB, Dunstan, Rivers, Melksham

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
