  1. Swans are a better team without him I reckon, I'd be going for Taylor Walker if we're after ageing big forwards that is..
  2. Agree with this and also others on last year. We did have an ordinary mid year last year. We've also had 5 weeks less rest than Freo/Collingwood and 4 weeks less than Sydney so fatigue I can kind of understand.
  3. In: May, Rivers, Bedford, Daw, Dunstan Out: ANB, Turner, Sparrow, M Brown, Bowey Jackson to CHF Bedford can impact scoreboard, and put pressure. ANB needs a spell and hasn't impacted this year Majak to play bench and Ruck Gawn to go back and fill hole Dunstan in middle, apply pressure. Petracca more forward, has been too fumbly and ineffective in guts anyway. Pickett to play some mid time Rivers HBF and Brayshaw on wing Jordan centre bounce time Harmes, not sure what his role is apart from being a passenger but he can just stay HF for mine. Can impact when given space and can overhead mark. Free up Fritsch, Needs space. BBB to never leave the 30m area if not the G square.
  4. Midfield is a shambles, plain and simple, that includes Wings and High half forwards. Flatfooted and 1 dimensional. Zero spread and spatial awareness. This has been all year not just last 3 weeks, we've been able to cover it up prior. Handballing to a stationary player or a player running into an oppostion tackler. It's like we're playing with no respect for the opposition like the oppo won't put pressure on the ball carrier or something. So many caught with the ball, either a free kick or a spill and turnover. Can't blame the lesser lights, ANB, Spargo, Harmes, MBrown Hibberd. These boys are only good when we're good. Been outcoached, out classed and out manoevered mid game. We've folded last 3 weeks really really easily, that's my biggest concern. That's a 'give in' attitude. Doesn't bode well. I am embarrassed.
  5. Predictability is very easy to coach against, we are very predictable. This has been a pattern all year, we've just been shown up last 2 weeks by good teams that were able to breach the dam walls. No need to panic but this "we'll just grind oppositions down and get the game back to a Melbourne game" ain't going to wash anymore. Our stoppage spread and flat feet have been really frustrating to watch. We're constantly going forward from the stoppage. The opposition is just blocking this pathway, which is why we're constantly getting caught. The oppo is shrinking the field. Yze and Stafford need to come up with a solution to increase our workable area forward of D50. We just need different avenues to goal, which have been cut off by oppo tactics. I trust we'll work around this, I'm not sure it's a work rate thing looks to me like there's a bit of hesitation on role and positioning.
  6. I'm not sure everyone understands how important a fit TMAC is to our forward structure, I'd be surprised he if he doesn't start in the forward line. His engine and mobility are invaluable. Can go back if absolutely has to. BBB worst game for a Dee, stunk last few weeks. Weid another week for me. Franklin is out so we maybe bring in Tomlinson to play on L McDonald. Lever to play loose and one on one depending on circumstances and the 2 rucks just float back. Chance of rain also so a tall defensive unit may not be necessary. I'm also assuming Petty has a rest. In Harmes, Langdon, Tomlinson, TMac, Salem Out: May, Petty, BBB, Dunstan, Rivers, Melksham
  7. Sheesh!!! It's all over by the sounds of some on here. Remember we played until October and have had 5 weeks less rest than Freo/Carlton etc. Look at the Dogs and Port. They're just starting to pick up. We got smashed yes. But we've looked cooked for a few weeks now. We're also the hunted. We've been winning in 2nd gear. Our 4th gear wins every time. Finals are 13 weeks away. We don't need to win this week either. We'll be already planning our fitness around finals. Lets see how Freo go against us when Salem, Harmes, May, Hibbo, TMac, Langdon and Trac (was very ill) are playing. Go Dees
  8. We seem to have had a better forward structure when Jones and or Melksham were playing, I'm assuming they were playing a role I think we've been tactically beaten last 4-5 weeks. Forcing us to go long and rush, causing ANB, Spargo and Pickett to be crowded with little impact. Having a Melksham or Jones who can slot it from 50-55 could mix things Brown must come in, Fritsch to float, TMac to get higher.
  9. Sparrow, Jordan, Lockhart, Chandler/Baker/Laurie (young, determined, playing a role) In Please. Jones, Jetta, (old, making up the numbers) Out Please Melksham, Hibbo (Will get their turn to prove they still have it) Hold Please
  10. Tough, my Top 5 best players 1. Flower 2. Lyon 3. Neitz 4. Stynes 5. T Viney Favourite 5 players 1. Jakovich 2. Schwartz 3. Farmer 4. R Jackson 5. Tingay
  11. I'm happy to be wrong about Hunt and Sparrow, they looked to take a significant step in their roles on Saturday. Consistency and continuity is key for them. The 3 positions up for grabs (over the next few rounds) are BP, Wing and Utility. Jetta, Brayshaw and Jones. My thoughts are give Brayshaw a few weeks as he is coming off a short pre season. But he still must perform (barely at moment). Jetta has been good but Lockhart will be knocking on the door soon. Jones won't play 22 games so it'll be form and managing him this year. He has been ok, but they will look to bring in Baker at some stage. Also once the key forwards come back expect TMac to play a higher role if not Wing so this may affect Brayshaw/Jones. Other than that leave this 22 as is this week barring any injuries. A repeat performance sees us win this.
  12. I'm assuming this is actually a baiting/stitch up account
  13. Gee i'm glad some on here aren't on the selection committee I urge some to re-watch the game. Worst performance was the midfield, Coaches specifically. Stoppage work was very disorganised. Ins and outs apart from Viney are quite irrelevant given the personnel on hand.
  14. Possible ins - Viney, Hibberd, Chandler Possible outs - Jones, Hunt, Sparrow, Harmes Saints have some smalls so Hibbo in if fit enough, he and Jetta in back pockets. Can provide dash like Hunt with better disposal and a left footer. Rivers and Salem on HBF. Out Hunt (wasn't that bad just balance) Viney in, Sparrow can play defensive on ball and also defensive HFF or FP at times. Out Jones. Chandler will have to wait, ANB, Kozzie and Spargo went ok. Melksham hasn't played a decent game in 3 years, can earn it back at Casey. Harmes gets in the right spots at times just butchers it or spuds it up. Confidence and continuity key for him. Can also play HBF. Viney in will help. 2 changes enough for mine
  15. Wow, I didn't expect to feel sad and nostalgic. We'll always have that QB17 goal mate, all the best Jack.
  16. There's a lot of other people that should be sacked before Harley He stuffed up, yes he should be held accountable and punished. The Cairns debacle will cost the club more than $50k
  17. Agree with that. He is pretty good with ball in hand. Just had higher expectations following his 2018 debut season. Probably tough to improve in 19. No one did.
  18. Reasons for Deespair 1. Lack of fight when we really needed it. Pathetic. 2. Brand of footy? I still have no idea what that means 3. Coaches/Selectors making drastic and dumb changes in either of the must win games in Cairns. 4. Lack of development/improvement. Brayshaw, Harmes, Lever, Spargo, Weid, Baker, OMac, Sparrow, Bedford, Hannan, Hunt, Smith. None of these players have improved. 5. TMac/Jones/Nev are all cooked. 6. Way too many list cloggers, not enough room on this thread... Reasons for a Whinge 1. Essendon game being postponed. A bye would've been nice. 2. Having to go from Alice to Cairns in 4 days resulting from the above 3. Jacko going down. That didn't help when we just started seeing "Cohesion".... 4. Brisbane game. Hmmm, few decisions cost us badly in that one. 5. Bloody Covid 6. Injuries to Petty, Jordan, Hore. I think they can all play. Reasons for Optimism 1. Petracca, breakout year. Outstanding. 2. May. My new favourite player. Huge, tough, and most of all hates losing. 3. Rivers. Liked him from day 1. Looks to have all the attributes. Lock him in. 4. Jackson. Will scare opposition coaches. Hard to match up on. Lookout when he's got 50 games under his belt. 5. Kozi. Wasn't sold on him but his is work rate is outstanding. Experience will get him in the right spots and if we end up with a proper forward line someday he'll know where to be. Expectations too high in 1st year. He'll be fine. 6. Fritsch. Yes he's a bit arrogant and can't kick straight but he's a fantastic kick when up the ground. Elite numbers for score involvements and 7th in the league for goal assists. Kicked 22.24 and probably a few on the full. That's a good year considering our forward line structure seems to change week to week. 7. Langdon. A very solid year. Best gut runner we've had in decades. Get's to the right spots and tries his heart out. If we can improve his kicking technique he can become elite. 8. Oliver. Yes had some horror games disposal-wise but kept at it and had some very good games by foot and hand. He copped some real abuse both internally and externally in a tough season for everyone mentally. He gets marked by the opposition every week and deserves a pat on the back for not going into his shell when most would have. 9. Lockhart. I think he has a future down back and expecting him to improve next year. Bit to learn but gives his all and tries to show dash and break open play. Rather that than negative players who dish off and transfer the pressure. 10. Mitch Brown. Might be getting too optimistic here but i thought his last 2 games were terrific. With the possibility of TMac being traded we need a swing man. He is quite smart with the footy in hand. Worth another year unless we pull off some shrewd trading. 11. Weideman. Clutching here but can play at times. I think he can improve with a better set up/forwards coach. His last chance.
  19. I'd be picking the team that can kick the biggest score My gut feel is Dogs will win but Saints game is 50/50 and they've been shaky under pressure. So it's all about our margin, but we'll know the result anyway so late changes a chance? Must start well. Once Bombers give up they fold pretty quick.
  20. Agree totally. Also commentary is at an all time low.
  21. Interesting for the selectors. Win by 50+ points and we would overtake a beaten St Kilda. Go too attacking and we can become unstuck. Go too conservative and potentially miss out on % If Saints win, just need to get the points and pray for Freo. In: Jackson, Harmes Out: ANB, Tomlinson
  22. Brendan McCartney leaving could be part of this
  23. By shedding the dead wood and getting some more talent in Also by hurrying up and getting to 2021 fast.
