Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

So many posts can be construed as potentially offensive to someone. Why single out this one? Sheesh, lighten tf up. Please.

Sorry MCW in case you haven't noticed recently the majority of the Australian population in late 2021 and 2022 are dying in Old Age Homes due to the pandemic.

To make light if this in this manner comparing it to a real life issue affecting many thousands of Australian people is both insensitive and unnecessary.

Its not a matter to just say lighten up a bit It's the saddest part of the Covid pandemic. And you should be respectful of the pain of many who are losing loved ones during these Covid times.

You are in fact the one who should be examining your reaction. You wouldn't say what was written  ( hopefully) out loud live so don't put it in print either.

Anything I put in print I would say out loud. Period.
I just wonder, where do we draw the line?
Last week some DLers were saying Sarah Perkins needs to drop 20 kilos and the Crows AFLW side must have a huge food bill etc. I personally didn’t take offence but that may well have offended someone who’s obese.

I’m just saying you ought not cherry-pick what you deem as having the potential to offend while other posts which could also potentially offend are let through to the keeper.

Ran into a man who I haven't seen for over a year (covid) who follows Geelong. Although pleased for me with Melbourne's premiership win, was absolutely condescending regarding OUR win and OUR football club. Did my best to hold it together. His only comment that put a smile on my dial was that he is concerned that we will be so strong for the next 5-7 years reaping more premierships.

This is one of the reasons why I hate Geelong so much as his comments are typical of so many Geelong supporters I know. I remember when they were just a nice country club that everyone liked and was in awe of the likes of Polly and Billy. Personally knew Bob Davis and a nicer man didn't exist. All those good memories gone with the manner in how they play now (oiled up arms so tackles slide up, deliberate ducking and "bitching" to umpires when things go against them) and their supporters JUST SO ENTILITED. This piece by purple on Scott just leaves me so angry.

The best comment I heard after the grannie was from our captain.  When asked what was his best moment of the 2021 season he replied "beating Geelong THREE times". Gotta love that man.

May played with a torn hamstring. Why didn’t we postpone the game for that?
I still can’t get over the nerve of this club. For goodness sake why didn’t you make late changes if you thought some of your players were too sick to play?

I'm not sure about removing him as Gfc would then start winning finals.

Haha that is beautiful

Maybe the notorious (but now distant history) 186 game should have been postponed - were there not  quite a few of our guys ailing from an old fashioned flu or gastro on the day?

Thanks QB got a real laugh from your comments.
What a joke Chris Scott is.

And he seems so serious !!

You think it's funny when Cats get put down?

That's a bit heartless, I happen to be a cat lover.

Shame on you.

My favourite bit was where Scott says “The last thing I want is for it to be perceived like we are making excuses” to which Damian Barrett replies “I don’t think anyone sees it that way”

Fair to say that Barrett didn’t ask me if I thought Scott was making an excuse!

No wonder they call Barrett “purple”, what an absolute squeezer.

Boom! named it in one

I think the most irritating thing about listening to Scott is that it feels like he's diminishing our prelim win or trying to. He's also no doubt  trying to protect his coaching position and legacy. Wouldnt you LOVE to hear him say, I realise the game style we were using had too many holes and Melb was a team that could really show those holes up. This is at least as true as anything else. I'll look forward to Geelong finishing in the top 6 and getting bundled out in the 1st week ...again. I have a special reserved hate for this team now.

It's worth noting that players such as Narkle and Dahlhaus were both available for selection but overlooked for the prelim. Instead the ''ill'' Brad Close (one of the 6) was chosen to play ahead of them.  Close isn't that far ahead of either that you'd take a risk with an unwell player if you didn't have to.

It makes you wonder how sick Close really was, especially as he had more disposals in the prelim than his season average.

It's fair to say I'm a little sceptical as to how much of an effect this illness had on the actual game.

Scott seems pretty unpopular, even with his own fans, but I've always quite liked him.

But I lost a lot of respect gor him after the prelim when he made his vague references about excuses. And then later revealed the supposed illness players were suffering from.

No doubt in my mind, in spite of his 'take nothing from Melbourne' crap,  that part of his motivation was to diminish our victory. Can't stand that sort of disrespectful rubbish. Such poor form

And now I've lost more respect for him. Raising the issue now, some four months later, is pathetic. Why do it?

The dees will look forward to playing that bunch of whiners I'm sure.

There is a chasm between us the cats - both in terms of talent, but perhaps more importantly, a game plan that can win finals.

In addition to dalhsus and narkle being available, I'm pretty sure Higgins (a player they could surely only have traded in because they thought they were in the premiership window) was also available. Higgins is almost a like for like for close.

So as you say they had options. And elected not to use them. That's on Scott.

Chris Scott is trying to change history in the hope that Geelong supporters will forget that he has assembled an aging list which always becomes the brides maids never the bride as in 2011 and 2020.

He inherited a fabulous list from Mark Thompson who had run his race.

They have made a preliminary final in 7 of his 11 seasons at the helm but in all that time has bombed out in all but 2 times getting to the big dance with a fabulous list  and home ground advantage where opposing teams get very few supporters into the boutique ground which only teams interstate teams get to enjoy.

Norm Smith made the GF in the periond 1954-1960 winning 5 and lost players virtually every year.

Honestly binman Scott is a whinger, always has been. The Dee's have been beating him up in finals for 4 years now. When will the penny drop, they simply are not good enough any longer.

Ive been humble in Victory 🏆

Except in private with fellow Dee supporters - only showing pic of me with Cup to fellow followers.

I still play that amazing 31 seconds again and again. Last night I was stuck in supermarket queue and visualised it in my head while waiting.

Scott said our campaign was “20 years in the making”. Reckon it was seven with Roos and Jackson.
Always amazed Geelong hierarchy never gave Bomber Thompson 12 mths Sabbatical to sort his life out then come back again.
Anyone, possibly except Neeld, coulda coached Geelong to 2011 flag.

Reckon Thompson woulda snagged one or two more.

As Max said apart from Flag, best thing was doing the Cats three times.
All the great images we’ve enjoyed this year, Kossie after a goal, ANB celebrating, a Fritta jumper tug, a Clarrie salute, a Trac stare, a Harmes mouthguard, a Lingers smile - this remains one of my favourites.
Prefer not to gloat, but

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
