Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I think only the 22 players getting premiership medals makes them worth more so much more.
Im not sure exactly how Ameican football works, I dont follow it but in the NBA everyone on the team getting one is a bit much.

For comparison; I will use recent Finals MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and his two brothers Thanasis and Kostas that all have 1 ring each.

Kostas played for the lakers - 5 games in the 2019-2020 season averaged 4 minutes a game, Zero minutes in the playoffs (sat on the bench the entire time) and has a ring. He is now playing in the EUROLeague because he isn't good enough for the NBA

Thanasis played with Giannis in 2020-21 season for the Bucks - 57 games for the season, 9 minutes per game on average.
13 playoff games (did not play finals) for an average time of 3.5 minutes per game and has a ring.

Giannis in 2020-21 season for the bucks played 61 games and averaged 33 minutes, played 21 games in the playoffs for an average of 38 minutes and has a ring.

There are some terrible players with undeserved rings, some which even get traded mid year that end up with rings for that team.
In their current system a player could have played for one team at the start of the year, get traded mid year then be competing against their previous team in the Finals and still get presented a ring no matter who wins. its ridiculous.

In the NBA, not all rings are equal. In the AFL the premierships are.

OK, what if Gawn or Oliver get injured and we do get tho win the GF?  No reward for all their efforts to get us there over the season?

I suspect that if we lose, the team will stay on for the Brownlow. But Jones and a few others with young kids will fly home.
If we win, I think Goodwin will need to tell Jonesy pretty quickly if he’s going to be the sub on grand final day or not. If the answer is no, then I suspect he will fly home.
If we win the our opponent is Bulldogs I can’t see him being sub. If we face Port I think he is more likely as Port aren’t super quick.

I think this is a golden reason why I think there should be reward for efforts through the season.

Yup and I have no problem with that, been that way for over 100 years.
Their reward for their good season was getting in the all australian team.

Will WA change some restrictions to regional Victorians now the lockdowns have eased - not saying that people from regional areas will be able to get over for a grand final (if we make it), but what if we asked if Jonesy could come back to Vic and have his family relocate to Geelong, Ballarat or Bendigo to have their babies? Then him might be able to travel a little freely - maybe only a few days quarantine rather than a full 2 weeks?

Still a risk with the break between PL and GF. Accidents/incidents can happen at training

Are you across who the premier of Western Australia is?

Not a chance in hell they’d provide that exemption to Jones.

I get the fairytale. But one thing not discussed is giving him another year. That way he can become games record holder and get a proper farewell.
he won’t get much game time next year either but the contract would be shaped accordingly.
this is all predicated on whether he would actually have another crack.

Family must come first.

He needs to be there for his Wife and the birth of his twins.

Hopefully the Melbourne Football Club consider giving Nathan Jones one last season so that we as Demons fans get to see him off properly.

Either way, Nathan we love you mate, you have been an incredible and loyal servant of the Melbourne Football Club.

Do we know if they are boys or girls?

Either way father son or daughter rule.

We only started following Kalany White when he was 9 years old. In the embryo is where we should start.

Thanks just doesn't seem enough, I wish there was a way we could let him know how much what he's done means to us.

You're a champion Nathan and we won't forget it

Nathan Jones has been the heart of the club through bad times and been so loyal to stay the course.  His influence last night was not in kicks or handballs but his presence and spirit. His embrace of his teammates and especially the young blokes showed his leadership and mentorship continues.

It’s the right call, but still a [censored] result. Nathan deserves to taste success more than any other player in the afl. He stuck with the club when it was a train wreck on the brink of collapse and still busted his [censored] every week despite 100 point beltings.
It’s not some sympathy thing either - he was a legitimately good footballer, winning multiple BnF’s and copping a tag as we had no other players worthy of attention.

Nathan, thank you for everything. You’ll always be remembered as a legend of this club. Hopefully there’s a role for you in the future, and all the supporters can see you again.

Best of luck with the upcoming birth. You deserve happiness and fulfillment. Those kids have got an incredible father figure to look up to!

Any club - any game. If it’s to be us, I haven’t forgotten Mitch Brown v Hawthorn

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
