Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

MFC Strategic Plan for Next 4 Years

I really like that the home base is on there.

The is much we can't control - particularly the premierships - and i feel the club would know they will be judged very harshly on this, so will want to go easy on things that can't be achieved.

So this indicates to me that they think this is very realistic.

It's nut up or shut up time now.

I wouldn't expect another failed year to save the board and CEO regardless of this plan.

It does make me a little warm and gooey though.

Hope it comes to fruition.

Go Dee's.

I like the high expectations they have.  It would be easy to aim low, and some supporters might see some as unachievable, but we've got to aim high.  They are targets I think we can manage.

Not simply aim high, as many have done so before (mere words)   but aggressively compete as hard as we can to achieve these Crucial areas of building this club.

More than Half a Century has been wasted in the thinking that the Mcc will give us this or that.  Wrong.

We have to walk alone and still be a major tenant of the G'.  The Original Footy club of the 'G'.

Interesting line towards the end of the Hun's coverage.

"Bartlett said improving facilities was the club’s “No. 1 off-field priority” but while there was “movement at the station” he could not elaborate further."

And this is The Age's write up. Looks like Pert had a chat to Niall before tonight's announcement.

Rumblings tell me there is renewed development in the Jolimont plan but still unlikely to happen. The East Melbourne resident bubble won't stand for it. The alternative is a new development as part of major Richmond Station development in the works. Eddie actually hinted on this recently.

the between the lines in here is interesting;

- pert has time to ‘start construction’ on homebase.  nothing in there about when the deal gets done, its all about the first brick that gets laid

- goody has no time... not lots of wiggle room when you say ‘finals every year’.  the Pres can’t miss the first clear goal and not take a scalp

It's ambitious but if we're not striving to be the best then what's the point? Aim high, go for it.

I see a lot of aims but I can't see a lot of strategic planning?

What are the actual strategies that are going to give us an edge?

Richmond were recruiting for speed for a long time and finally got it together in 2017. Their playing group were also incredibly inclusive, something that spread through the whole club. That's an on field and off field example on how they've built themselves.

Without any details it's more strategic aims than strategic plans

Love it.  The time for mediocrity is over.  As much as Paul Roos was fairly instrumental in turning the ship around, the aim I most commonly heard him talking about was being competitive and building a team that could go deep into finals.  I understand Roos was both starting from a lower base and had a shorter term horizon, but just making and being competitive in finals doesn't cut it for me.  From 1987 to 2006, the MFC had a great period of being competitive in finals without bringing home a premiership.

Don't see why we have to wait patiently to keep building our list and playing off in finals for a number of years to put it out there that winning a premiership is what this is all about.  I'm so glad the club leadership continued to put it out there, as it would be so easy to retreat back into our shell after 2019 and that would be such a mistake.  Aiming to win premierships is a winner's mentality and we need to have that for the players to build the kind of belief that it will take to get us to that goal.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
