Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We have a President who often talks about her background in major projects and we have a CEO whose job was to setup new facilities. So here we are several years later still swimming around in the pond without new facilities or even a hint of where we are at with it.

We were sold the projects background as the reason behind her sudden promotion to the role because they didn't want to release the truth around the breakdown of the former Pres and the entire executive.

I think they've less head way in the last three years with more resources to get it moving.

All eggs are supposedly now in the Caulfield basket.

The club know that making finals, despite not winning them, means there is less pressure broadly on the need for an immediate solution.

Sorry  FB is a [censored] to get to.

Wont matter to me but if im a player needing to get somewhere  to train at the times normally scheduled then FB is a disaster.

Good point. If you look at the FB development proposals, access will be improved to accommodate the new population. It is near the existing west gate freeway. But appreciate its all very much speculative and would need to be emphasised in any proposal for an entertainment/sports complex

The newly revamped VU Whitten Oval is now being used by the Western Bulldogs AFLW team.

Here is a video about it: https://www.afl.com.au/aflw/video/1043405/a-behind-the-scenes-look-at-the-dogs-new-look-fortress?videoId=1043405&modal=true&type=video&publishFrom=1695931200001&tagNames=AppNewsFeed:Yes

Hopefully, the Melbourne Demons can get something similar to this built at Caulfield Racecourse.

Caulfield is great if you live south of the river, but Port Melbourne is more central, and closer to the G. It would probably be easier to make parking available as well.

Public transport access is probably the best anywhere in Victoria and when the multi billion dollar rail tunnel opens,  if it runs ok, will link even more quickly with northern and western suburbs.  The Caulfield Station itself needs some upgrades especially improving inter connectivity between platforms without having to leave and re-enter but that won’t affect those whose destination is Caulfield, or who wish to depart from there.

FB will improve.. but most an improvement only relevant to those living there.  If you look at some of the relatively nearby higher density developments in PM..and if you've ever had to access that area...it's  rubbish  Congested.. narrower streets etc. Any new developments will NOT be car friendly ( as that is THE way now .

I can see a theoretical attraction...but it wouldn't pan out. Those lovely Architectural Presentations are no more than Cartoons really..  utopian pipedreams as opposed dreary reality.

As its pretty safe to assume hardly an Melbourne player does , or would be living there then somewhere more accessible and attractive  might better serve.

It's an irrelevance where any supporters live.  It is about what( and where ) best serves the MFC.

I could see FB sorta flourishing for its new population.  It will suit some. Not anyone who appreciates a modicum of space though.

Might be a while too.

yes again some good points, but utopian pipedreams and cartoon presentations can certainly be modified with a specific entertainment/ green space venue including public transport and parking space. Theres certainly plenty of space there now just a matter of the price of the vacant warehouses and even the go cart track etc.

The development of PM was as you say for higher density housing with traffic calming and reduction aims. it too ws a utopian pipedream when it was proposed. The FB development is much larger and has more potential to deliver. it can then service not just the PM and FB populations who can provide a stable year round base market but can then accommodate a larger MFC crowd for specific footy and social events.

a combined administrative training base for MFC with entertainment facilities for a large population has some economic attraction. Theyre the same features of Caulfield

The Caulfield Station itself needs some upgrades

True but unlikely.  You cant even change a light globe at Caulfield without going before the heritage committee.  (how they allowed electric trains i will never know)

Once the new Metro tunnel opens, Caulfield Station will be even more easily accessible from other parts of Melbourne. Caulfield Station is fine as a destination station in its own right, needs upgrades as a transiting station though. It is the largest train station outside the inner city core and where the Cranbourne\Pakenham and Frankston Lines branch out. As far as PT and road links are concerned, Caufield is an A grade location.

What I am curious about is where within the racecourse precinct would the Demons facilities be?

If they are at the Southern end then Glen Huntly Station and the 67 tram are probably the better transport options. Glen Huntly has a new train station that opened recently as part of the level crossing removals.

The Southern Neerim Road side and Western Kambrook Road side, where the stables were located, provide ample room for massive facilities. The inner car park area provides room for 2 ovals plus.

Rumoured that the Lions will re-locate home games to Springfield while they rebuild the Gabba for the Olympic Games.

Will be interesting to see how that works. Not sure if it will be one season or two and then of course in the Olympics year I doubt we will see games at the Gabba post June so they can lay the running track

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
