Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Which part was made up? The part about him leaving north or the part about him going to the dees? Point was that he ended up in Melbourne which was in response to you saying let’s not pick Pickett because of go home factor. When his uncle left SA to come to Melbourne. The PA part is irrelevant here or if anything backs up my case further if you want to include it.

Demonland: What kind of idiot does Taylor have to be to pick such a small player like Spargo in the second round

Also Demonland: Hey Taylor we should pick this player even smaller than Spargo in the second round

Being sub-175 cm tall doesn't automatically preclude you from being an AFL player, but it does put you at a serious disadvantage.

Recent history shows that if you are sub-175 cm, slow and don't kick goals, your chances of being a long term AFL player are very slim indeed.

Those that make it are generally elite at something else (eg Caleb Daniel's disposal and decision making), which is why I don't think any of Spargo, Bedford or Chandler will make it and why Kennedy-Harris has possibly played his last game.

poita - haven't had an opportunity to see Bedford and Chandler.   Is it too early to tell if they have the skills or the pace?

Having been a bit of a fan of Spargo last year, he either has a bad case of second year blues, or sadly, I tend to agree with you.

Also have been a fan of JKH but his papers look to have been stamped if he can't squeeze into this line up despite good reports from Casey

makes you wonder why we have 4 of them on the list.. which is what I was saying about having a lot of smalls at Casey.

So on that basis it's a pass.

IIRC JKH was originally touted as a small forward and that went nowhere after his early injury.

We really missed the boat with the smaller type player when we (along with most others) elected to play it safe and ignore Sydney Stack when he was available because of our “no d***heads” rule.

We now have a number of midgets on our list who are a long way off getting a game while Garlett’s injured and probably need to trade/delist a couple of them before considering bringing in more of the same.

Definitely on board with this! We desperately need a small forward with x-factor and he seems to have that in spades.

Go for him Dees!!!

Absolutely. May be available at 50.

I like Elijah Taylor at pick 26 though

I’ve got no idea who he is, I’ll look him up. I just keep reading how the talent will drop off, that and I miss the days of Flash. Thought he’d be worth a look.

Gawwd from what I"ve seen in highlights reel a real chance Dazzle????? Your appraisal??

Exciting and fits exactly what we have been missing since early Aaron Davey days.

I wouldn't be against using pick 26 on him though.

Exactly what we are lacking

this is sanfl seconds you do realise? and only 1 game

in 12 games (sanfl 2nds, u18 and 2 games sanfl) he kicked 17 goals. take away the 6 in 1 game and you have 11 goals in 11 games

hardly a prolific goal sneak.

yes, he is a natural footballer type with x-factor but at 170cm i'd like to see a lot lot more of his capabilities and record to date

far too easy to be seduced by a highlights video of one game.

I’m guilty of being seduced....

I was waiting for a full phantom draft to see what other small forwards were available if any this year.

Yeah I agree with you completely. Looked like a lower grade he was playing but I like his positioning. He knows where to be. Having said that a larger sample size is necessary.

He might still be there at 26, whereas I think Weightman will be gone.

We really need a small forward who can impact games similar to a Gryan Miers did at the Cats.

If we select someone like Hayden Young at 3 and Pickett at 26 we fill two important needs. Outside skillful left footer and someone to win the ground ball inside 50

I don’t follow the under 18s closely, but you have my vote.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
