Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

In 10 years time we may have just witnessed a demon dynasty with Viney petracca oliver brayshaw and harmes in midfield.

Couldn't agree more. Beast of a midfield. It's the perfect mix of power and silky skills.

Very, very scary!

In Goodwin's presser he said Dom was due for surgery about now (7pm) and Kent to be reassessed tomorrow, but that at this stage, it doesn't look as bad as they initially thought

That could be the best news to come out of today (aside from a convincing win!). Shoulders can be funny at times, sometimes you get knocked in a spot and it feels incredibly painful but just needs a week or two to recuperate.

Tyson doesn’t sound good though, Viney comes Etta in for him but it would’ve been hard to drop Dom on his recent form.

I went to Fyans Park Primary back in the day.

The only thing I remember about that joint was that the school hobby was spitting at each other.

Hahaha, par for the course!!!! Some of the stories about Oberon High, Geelong High and North Geelong high were insane.

I hate to say it but I had a few years at “Grammer” before the family couldn’t afford it and went to St Joeys. Then off to boarding school.

Played juniors and a little 3rds at South Barwon CC.

Might have been JKH's best game, but I reckon the big win has led to some rose-coloured glasses. Spargo was very ordinary again, despite a couple of good things. Gotta be in doubt for our first final on form, but the injuries are mounting up.

Dont agree. Charlie runs all day, gets where the ball is, and he had a hand in a few goals. For a 19yo he is terrific

Frost is a huge double edged weapon down back. Neutered Cameron then run and carry. Same for Harmes, somnambulated Kelly and tough ball winning. Sad for Tyson and Kent. Fought their way back in the team then cruel luck.

Excellent team effort today.

Jordan Lewis will be a huge asset for the next 2 weeks.

Soak it in tonight Demons and then get ready from tomorrow onwards

JKH played a great game. Frosty reminds me of Sean Wight

We can beat the Feral Cats if we are ready for battle...

Great post match tweet from Ralphy Horowitz

Cant deal with expectations;

Can't beat a side in the eight;

Should have gone on a pre season camp;

Go Dees. Home final. Bite that critics.

IMO that was our best performance all year.

Two down on the bench, coming back from Perth after a hot game and one fewer day's break than our opponent, at a ground we've at times this year struggled at, against a side which plays football the way which usually troubles us.

And we didn't just win, we dominated for all bar maybe 15 minutes and won by 7 goals.

The development of Harmes this year has been out of this world. I doubt anyone on here saw this from him. His one-handed pick up at full pace on the members' wing in the third was special, he works harder than anyone and he does it all whilst defending key mids from the opposition (Selwood, Kennedy, Shuey and now Kelly all have lost to him).

We were on the back foot a bit early, both in the clearances and across half forward, but I was incredibly pleased to see us learn and adjust. Bodywork at the contest got better, our spread improved, and we wore them down (despite losing Tyson for a half).

Most interesting to me was that we started 6-6-6, instead of having one forward run off the back of the square. They dropped a defender behind the ball so they had the extra man, but I was intrigued with us coming into the game not using that runner. Looked good, I thought.

Frost, Oscar and Weideman all played with more confidence than I've seen from any of them. If Frost keeps playing like that he's going to become a key weapon. Weideman is playing better than most would have expected and his marking and leading up at the ball are getting better.

Still have room to improve - Spargo is struggling IMO, and we still make some poor errors at odd times. Petracca's set shot kicking is getting worse, not better, unfortunately.

But IMO we're peaking at the right time of year, and I cannot wait to take on Geelong for some redemption.

I feel JKH and Spargo were terrific all day in that theyt provided that forward prssure that reduced GWS taking the ball away with ease. That pressure gave our blokes time to set up . A very good game by all today.

When you think that Spargo and Fritsch are first year players. Fritsch has that compoure and silky disposal that enable him to play anywhere.

Spargo plays with heart and considering he is not real big he covers ground well. He provided a few handballs todat that opened up our forward line.

Sam Weidermann is coming of age and is attacking the ball with a lot more confidence.

I know this is the subject of another thread, but what would we get if we traded Lever, Viney and Hoges ??

(Before some peole get their knickers in a knot, not really. All it shows is that there is competition to STAY in the side, which is why Hawthorn had their dybasty )

Great summary!

I agree, Spargo makes some silly mistakes, but he runs his guts out every game. The kid must be spent, but he'll be huge asset going forward. Yeah, we do have brain fades, but thankfully we are getting better at moving on from them and getting back to business.

I love how Frosty and Weids are standing up. They're a couple more pieces in our future! It's getting harder and harder for anyone else to get into this team, which is great!

We did it! What a glorious day at the football. For all of you who have been rocking up week after week whether at the game or even just with emotion, this ones for you.

Was an interesting start to the game, a few guys had the blinkers and once GWS got it to the outside they were piercing us. Very few teams have the midfield ball use they have. We weathered and we’re able to get a few from sheer effort surging forward. After half time they meant business, everyone raised their intensity 5% and you could see the confidence grow in a few of them.

Pour midfield core is growing game by game. Brayshaw was super all day, Oliver seemed quiet but I think he’s set the expectation so high that a good game like this gets overlooked. The one that stole the show was Harmes. Seriously this guy is playing out of his skin right now, if there’s a 50-50 ball and he’s coming for it you do not want to get in his way!

Max was incredible. When the game was in the balance he was so important with his marks and even at one point rebounding out of the back line! I like Lobbe but he got completely schooled by Max today.

The stand out performers were great but I want to make special mention of the contributors as this was a major team effort. AVB brings something we didn’t have before and will really make opponents earn possession. Milkshakes used it well for the most part and Salem continues to be a surgeon off half back, I think he missed his first target in 3 weeks today! Hibbo was solid and so important, as was Lewis. Oscar and Frost were outstanding, especially Frost who has got a bit of head wobble about him now which is great to see. Jones was serviceable, it’s great how he doesn’t have to have a pearler every week now. Trac built up and looked like he might tear it but had a decent game. And T-Mac, Mr reliable.

The tackling: Absolutely unbelievable! From everyone. It almost looked like Richmond and we were stocking everything. I can’t remember many times in the second half were the dubs were able to get to the outside. An unbelievable team effort.

Im so proud of this team! The growing in the last two weeks is amazing and has been very telling. I’m so proud of all our fans who just love this footy club as much as I do. There’s nothing better than being a Melbourne fan.

Bring on September! Cannot Wait! Let’s do this!

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
