Heart and soul.

The two words that you would describe the bald headed, brute of a man who combines courage and class and someone that we are lucky enough to be able to call captain.

He has stuck through thin, thin, thin, thin and thin and his heart is as connected with this club as anyone.

There were times and times when this man could have left our great club and I would've shed a tear, but I would not have been bitter in the slightest, but with his back against the wall and a huge climb ahead, time and time again he stuck with us.

It's an old adage, but I think if you cut this man's veins he really would bleed red and blue.

So get down to Etihad stadium this Saturday to support our great, loyal man for 250 magnificent 'heart and soul' games.

Thank you for sticking with us Nathan ❤️

P.S. as if you needed another reason to head to the footy this weekend...GO DEES!!

No one on our list deserves a win on this special milestone than Jones.

He deserves everything he gets.

They recently had an article on clubs and numbers, I opened it expecting it to be 31 for the Demons, it was actually number 11 and discussed Stynes onto Gawn. After reading it, I couldn’t help thinking it should have been number two, Robbie Flower and Nathan Jones, two of the biggest giants of the Melbourne Football club over the last 5 decades

Well done Chunk, you are a dead set legend. Leave this game in a blaze of glory, hopefully with over 300 games and having experiencing lifting cups 13, 14 and 15!

Well deserved and an absolute champion of our club. Absolutely deserves to be part of some succesful deep finals campaigns just like another famous number 2, who went through many lean years before that golden 9 weeks in 1987

Yep agree. I know people hate etihad but Melbourne fans get to etihad.  Nathan Jones deserves to be applauded for his milestone match. This is a man who has been an awesome player and leader for us. He has stayed loyal during those dark terrible times when he easily could have gone elsewhere.  Every week he puts his head over the ball and never takes a backward step.

Also we are playing awesome football at the moment going for our sixth straight win. Why wouldn't you want to come and see them play.

It would just be great next week to hear a loud roar when jonsey leads the boys out next week.

I can't wait.

A great opportunity to really appreciate the man over the course of the week.

He's certainly not slowing down. Having a another really consistent season. Boys will be pumped to get a win for him.

Having his best season in 2-3 years IMO. Hate going to Etihad, but I'll be there cheering next weekend. Jones bleeds red and blue and deserves success.

Well done on 250 games Nate!

Also now only 8 games (I think) from playing his 100th as Captain.

I can imagine him being thrilled to his bones by the idea that he could have his career best season and still not make top-3 in the best and fairest.

Jones debuted Rd. 17 2006 vs. Western Bulldogs.

The then Reverend coached Dees were victorious by a margin of 51 points.

12 years later, he's celebrating his 250th against the Bulldogs.

A win this coming weekend would be symbolic of the journey, for better and for worse, that this club has been on for the past 12 years. With pretty much one constant, Chunk Jones has remained a loyal and unquestioning servant of this great club.

I know Etihad is a souless dump, but if you can go, go. Jonesy deserves a milestone match to remember, including a big win!

The article is about Lever but his comment about Jones made me laugh:

"But I can see Nathan Jones – I hear he was a bit of a grumpy bastard before I came and now he's smiling every day.

"I think this is the first time in his career he's won five in a row, so for him to be a part of that is fantastic and he's really driving the standards around the club."

Deserves all the accolades, and the players will bring their A-game again this week - expect nothing less.

Wish him all the best for his 250th game

Has anyone noticed how, with the emergence of Max and the other midfielders, Chunk spends less time fighting for possession and more time running with the ball.

He is now the rover he was destined to be.

Yes  I have definitely noticed

He has carried the team on his own back for  12 years

Now we are seeing the real player

Fantastic

I cannot stand the joint but have just purchased my tickets. Would not miss Jonesy's milestone game for anything.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
