Sounds it, particularly given his AFL record was not factored in. Strange that.

Still he will find hard to get back in for the magpies game and perhaps, the final should we make it. Pity as it sounds as if he played well if this comment is anything to go by:

The 22-year-old collected 28 disposals, laid nine tackles and finished the match with a goal to be one of Casey's best players in its 37-point win.

Looks as though Brayshaw took his spot on the weekend as the small-medium half back flank and smashed whatever Salem's produced for a fair majority of the year.

I don't have Salem returning for the rest of the year. He's two games vs North and GWS, combined with his 2 suspensions throughout the year will cost him.

would be hand to have both Salem and Brayshaw coming out of half back. would add a new dimension. Both had good games on the weekend so why not for the pies game.

I agree. They both have excellent skills and usually make very good decisions. These attributes could be vital against Collingwood. In concert with our awesome line-breakers in Hibberd and Hunt, our rebounds will be very damaging. Damn i'm happy to have Gus back!

Should take the one week suspension and run. Watching the game I thought he'd get 2-3. It was really reckless and concussed Sumner who left the ground and did not return. It's the second stupid suspension he's had this year, the other being the fore arm into the North players head while on the ground.

Salem needs to use his time off to train hard and prove he wants to crack back into the team asap. His form has been up and down, had a few good games but also a number of complete ineffective ones. Like Watts, someone of Salem's talent should not be getting dropped at this stage of their career.  Coming into his fifth year, he needs to work hard to stay fit, he needs to find consistency in his approach and impact on games, and he needs to cut out the reckless stuff that's lead to multiple suspensions.

Next season is a cross roads of sorts for him. There's enough talent around him at the club now that he might not be best 22 every week if he isn't having an impact. On talent he is best 22, on output he's borderline.

Take the week suspension and work your ass off Christian. We could use your kicking skills come finals time.

looked more crude than cruel, and perhaps more clumsy than crude

unlucky that it knocked the bluebagger out, but it would seem judging by their medical reports that a strong gust of wind knocks the majority of their players out

We will the take one week. Very lucky! I  still think there is room for him against the pies. Still a very handy player when up and running and this week's VFL game demonstrated that he should be playing in the 1s.

Impeccable timing for Salem to go out by way of a suspension just in time for Tomas Bugg's return.

Who WJ?

Got him flush but wasn't a great deal in it.  The amount of posters carrying on over the last few days that he would receive multiple weeks would have to be kidding.  Particularly one poster who called it a dogs act, must seriously be delusional.

Looking at the video 1-2 weeks is about right, I agree with other people's assessment, more clumsy and crude than malicious. Definitely take the 1 week, he will struggle to return to the seniors though. It's a shame, he's had a mostly good year. Aside from the suspensions and recent drop in form I'd say he'd be having a fairly productive year, probably would've been back next week were it not for this suspension.

Gussy was great in what looked like Salem's role.

So put Salem forward. Iceman doesn't miss.

Geez the commentary around Salem's hit has been hysterical. Finally saw the video. Yes clumsy but the player that picked up the ball turned back in towards the centre of the ground. My guess is that Salem was expecting him to turn towards the boundary.

Hardly a hanging offence. I thought going on the reports that Salem had murdered the guy. 2 down to 1 is probably right but there was no malice in it from what I could see.

Salem at anywhere close to his best easily gets a starting 18 spot.

Gussy will hopefully move up to a wing and rotate forward.

I think you really overrate Salem.

Personally, I believe l he still sits in the Jack Watts type category. Great user of the footy, good decision maker, does the hard stuff every now and then but not renowned for it.

The fact that he's been dropped a couple of times this year completely flys in the face of your above statement.

With Salem's lack of conditioning and the fact he'd never played more than 12 games in a season, he was always going to be a prime candidate to fall off the cliff after a heavy workload through the middle part of the year.

He's gone back to Casey and played on the angry pills as per the coaches' instructions.

Freshen him up this week and bring him straight in the following week for Wagner, and give him more angry pills.

Just the once, I think.

And STMJ said "Salem at anywhere near close to his best". He was dropped because he's nowhere near his best, much like Watts was in the lead up to being dropped.

Yeah.  I was looking forward to Salem and Petracca playing against Brisbane: Christians v Lions.  Now only one.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
