It might boost crowd numbers by a fee thousand, 10k at an absolute maximum.  I think 40k is a reasonable expectation regardless.

Great idea. 1,000+- people moving into Melbourne every week, we should be targetting specific areas regularly. The club holds a significant advantage.

It's name.

The Saints have only played three away games in Melb (ES) - Pies, Norf and Dogs. The average attendance is around the 32k mark (36,650 against the Pies). Saints supporters don't travel.

I think a crowd of 35k tops - 25k Dees, 10k Saints.

When did we play them at MCG last?

50k or more, I'd guess.

Season on the line for both clubs, plus the targeted giveaway, plus the easily planned for / family friendly sunday timeslot, and good weather.

Haven't missed a Demons game in Melbourne this season and I don't plan to start now. Might drag along a couple of North/Richmond supporting mates for a some extra numbers if we're desperate.

No. They have been distributed to targeted groups such as migrants and tourists that have shown interest in AFL. They're not giving them away to randoms.

great initiative by the club.  They know we are on the rise and will be far more likely of picking up new supporters as opposed to the last decade when we havve been rubbish

There was actually a link which you could use to obtain tickets, but said ''allocation exhausted" the first time I saw it, and now doesn't work at all.

Probably no thanks to leaches like this...

Scumbags. Sad that people are taking the [censored] out of a great idea.

I will have to remind any saints fans who brag about the free tickets that we felt sorry for them given they can store their premiership cup collection on a bedside table!

Sounds like a successful move.  I wonder if the Club was selling 1 match season tickets for a song after the match? Would be a great way to get more people on the mailing list for 2018.

There was a long line outside the membership tent 30minutes before the game so there must have been something similar happening.

50k+ was a great crowd. One of the ladies in the office is new to Australia and took up the offer with a bunch of her friends. She'd never been to a game before and she really enjoyed it. Hopefully we'll convert her to an AFL fan but more importantly to a Dees fan.

Well done Dees!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
