Kudos to Goodwin.

He said at the half time break that we were being obliterated in the midfield, around the ball etc.

Yet again, he pulled off some half time masterstokes!  The main one being putting TMc in the ruck.  Masterstroke!  We started winning clearances and turned the game.

Throwing the team around a bit at half time gets the opp coach by surprise.

Coll played better in the first half but Goodwin outcoached Buckley!

Goodwin did the same last time T mac shouldnt go forward  aAways Pederson should take that spot

I hope T mac never plays forward of the centre at least Pedo takes a mark or two

Umps helped us in the end.

I really don't understand this. It is often the roll of the dice but as far as I could see the umpiring was of an exceptional standard. Why can't we just enjoy a fantastic win with no qualifications. The boys did a fantastic job...

Yes we won I'm over the moon don't get me wrong but couldn't help but notice that once we gained the ascendency we blazed away too often instead of lowering our eyes to a forward leading targets. This in my opinion is whats holding us back to taking a massive step forward to the dizzy heights of the ladder.

Extremely fatigued before the game, empty stomach and nothing to drink other than beer to drink. Nearly passed out screaming at the Watts goal which happened right in front of me.

Thought about posting in the match day thread at half time that we were certainties to win. It was almost classic 2017 version Melbourne. A period where the opposition gets ahead in the second, a late quarter evening, run over the top in the third. I never felt at any stage we couldn't win.

I didn't think Oscar was as poor as some say early and was definitely immense in the second. Definitely makes an interesting selection conundrum for next week.

We could have easily lost today with different umpiring decisions and only Demonland would notice.

Umpires helped us a lot.

Oscar was VAFA in the first half but All Australian in the second.

Fitting that Watts kicked the sealer, an excellent goal at that.

Tyson does himself no favours.

Team selection still wrong despite the win.

On a personal note, Mini Bizkit was born a few days ago, bought her membership last night so today she was our good luck charm.

Congrats mate! Out of curiosity do u know when the membership cut off date?

thought we did get a few 50/50 calls today I don't think however the umpiring was bad for either side.

To all those in this thread going on about the umpiring I recommend you go back and watch these moments:

Early last qtr Collingwood (Howe?) player takes possession at the top of our goalsquare runs, does a don't argue, gets tackled, tries to kick, misses ball, definite holding the ball to Melbourne, not paid, certain goal missed.

Treloar taken by Viney in a tackle drops ball on ground, no disposal, HTB missed, picked up by Collingwood goes inside for Collingwood goal.

Levi Greenwood drops a mark in the centre square, not infringed, tackled properly by Viney, ball heading forward for Melbourne, either the dropped mark or a free paid and a FIFTY paid to Collingwood. Pies score when Dees would've had a certain score.

First quarter Watts taken out in a marking contest on the Wing, pies player takes the ball while Scharenberg barrels him over with what looked like a tackle in a marking contest without his eyes on the ball. Pies goal, no free for Melbourne.

There were many other holding the ball frees missed for us, soft high tackles paid to them at crucial moments and many other moments.

The Hibberd and Hunt ones should've been HTB, but they missed plenty to us as well. Also both managed to hit the ball so the argument is whether they threw it first and that has barely been paid for 5 weeks. Should've been HTB and we got the rub of the green on those two but so did they, many times, especially in the first half.

It was a magnificent gutsy win and to claim the umpires won it for us is ludicrous.

great game Dees! Being on Gawn, Hogan and the doggies!!!

Edit: Not to mention Oscar perfectly bodying a contested mark on the wing to have it reversed then a pies player does the exact same thing in our forward fifty.. NO FREE!!

Congratulations on the arrival mate. I trust she is named Clint.

Due to work, and then some youth mentoring, didn't get to see much of the game except 10 minutes in 3rd quarter. But in the car during 2nd quarter, the commentators must have said about 15 times "Melbourne handball misses the target." I was screaming in rage at the dashboard.

Have just looked at a few highlights etc... and am just so rapt for Jack W. On QB, takes the responsibility and kicks the winning goal, then saves the last almost-goal with a finger. Can you imagine how hard he must have run in those last 5 minutes? Epic.

How good is it to see Petracca's potential being realised right in front of us! A matchwinner right there.

Biggest thing for me is we won a close one, a game full of pressure. But it wasn't a great game. Both coaches have a huge review coming up with lots of unforced turnovers and lazy defensive running.

But it feels VERY VERY good to be a Dees man tonight. The missus might not be safe.

Dont get me wrong here i want both Gawny and Hoges back next week but surely sanity prevails and only one of Gawny or Hoges come back into the side.

Melksham ,Bugg,,Omac,?

Plenty of room for the AA ruck and Hogan.

Hibberd is a very good defender. Does better than half a contest and when he gets done at least he hits body and brings them to ground and slows up play.

We were very fumbly and wasteful going inside 50 today. Would kill for someone like a pendlebury or sidebottom to deliver inside our 50

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie
