He got us moving in the third. I've heard him talk about how much fitness you need to be a consistent midfielder. He lost a preseason and a half with injuries so he just can't go like others yet.

Not too worried about him. He's going to be a ripper ;)

Yes but he maybe played a quarter

I'm looking forward to next week when we know it won't be a close game and it won't be so stressful. A easy 10 goal loss will be much more enjoyable..

Nah those are the games we'll probably come out and win/go down fighting

On holidays right now, even a win wouldnt have been better than going out rather than staying in hotel with stream. Need to take rest from the games and just check final score for a month. Spoils the morning a bit to be too agitated. Go dees from afar.

Just got home from the game. How  does Goodwin justify picking JKH over Kent. The bloke has been a passenger 2 weeks in a row now. Can't kick goals & not up to it.

I guess he had to get a run finally. Will not be on the list next year.

Perhaps make it a couple of months.

That's true, we are great at going down fighting.

At the very least Trenners can take a strong grab.

When JKH showed promise he was running around the wing, shown zip deep (not sure about Casey).

When we were horrible in the first half Tyson was hard at it.

Thought Bugg was OK not as bad as some people make out.

Viney was today's captain.

That was shyte.

we will be a good team when we play 4 quarters.  The first half was TERRIBLE.

Frost, Viney and Garlett all good.

just gutted.

handball circles are just awful, and don't work.  Kick the thing.

it is not an 'honorable loss'.  It is a kick in the balls.  We should have won.  Not good enough over 4 qtrs yet.

He wasn't today, said that in Game Day Thread, but he wasn't alone either, the forward pressure was non existent today

I want him to do well.  Im one of the few Demonlanders that had him in my Round 1 best 22.

He isn't up to it right now unfortunately, and likely wont make it.   He would need to do a Neville Jetta from here... show huge improvement for the rest of this season and then get re-rookied like Nev was.

Just now, leave it to deever said:

Viney laid 17 tackles. Every player had a tackle tally except one. JKH had zero tackles.

That is just unacceptable ....he was either injured or lazy.

He can't survive next week. It will be the most baffling and fracturing decision if so. I say fracturing because if he does managed to keep his place you'd have to imagine there'd be players at Casey getting frustrated and annoyed. The Hawks game was one week too many for me. He can't be in the team next week and for his to come back into the team he should have 3 BLINDERS for Casey.

Went down by 3 points to the best performing AFL team of all time

Their kicking was sublime

It hurt, but I'm not breaking stuff

They are not that team anymore.

Reality check. Skills too sloppy. Entries into forward 50 continue to be an issue. Potential only counts for so much. Key players go missing for too  long. Unable to react and shut down influential oppo players.

LACK OF LEADERSHIP IN TIGHT GAMES!

Same old same old.

Our ball use in the first half was putrid , and Hawthorn really used their talls and out marked  us all day .

What upset me the most was our lack of defensive pressure as too many times we didn't offer much of a contest not even trying to punch the ball away from the Hawthorn forward who often marked uncontested

With Gawn we are a good side , but by the time he returns it will be too late for this year.

Can our defensive coach tell Jetta to not jump for marks when the macdonalds are around? Having 4 players jump for balls happens every game

100% love Jetta but went up when he should of stayed down cost us at least 3-4 goal s

I might be wrong, will have to check the replay, but I'm sure 6 Melbourne players went up for the mark in their defensive 50 in the first qtr.

6.

Number of players going for the same mark= 6

Number of players around the pack = 0

Number of players keeping their feet= 0

Melbourne = stupid

Just for the record - with the exception of McEvoy we were taller, especially after Birchall withdrew injured.

Its just that their talls took marks and were more effective.  (Don't know who was playing on O'Brien who took 10 marks (and he has only played 18 games)).  Not enough respect to a newish player.

They had a 5 goal head start at half time.  We left our run too late - another 5 minutes and we would have won.  They aren't that good and it is another game that got away.

JKH afl career is cooked. I doubt we will ever see him again.

He can now focus on his acting career

What exact role was he ever meant to play? He's not a "small" forward, he's like a miniature lazy nugget version of Petracca, without any of the class or tenacity. Could lose some weight if he wants to be dynamic.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
