MRP for Hogan and Lewis

Absolutely dumbfounded by these sanctions! Can someone please find footage of Liam Shiels elbowing a Geelong player in the JLT and tell me how that was reckless rather than intentional?

His was only fined for that and the ball was well gone.

Irrespective of your view of the MRP findings, I'm sick of so-called leaders of this football club continually getting themselves suspended for acts that are stupid and not at all at tough or brave.

Hopefully the club withholds payments of wages for games missed due to dumb acts. The players certainly aren't meeting their end of the deal when they are sitting in the stands. If either Vince or Lewis goes again this season, they should come back via Casey.

Has Nathan Jones ever been suspended? There are plenty of players who can play hard and tough, without crossing the line.

So, an opposition player can take a dive - yes, despite a stupid act - MRP reviews on the vision only.  No opportunity to plead a case, speak about the nuance of the incident or the actual level of impact.  Contest the MRP finding and you risk a greater sanction.  Yep, makes sense to me - not

No need to contest Hogan decision as he won't be needed against Freo.

Not saying these decisions are fair, but perhaps the justification for the decision was that Lewis intended to affect the result by taking out their best player (Like he did to Goldstein) and the subsequent 3 week ban would do the same for MFC. 2 is reasonable though, not 3.

I hate how inconsistent the MRP is with these sanctions. Somehow these are worth 2 and 3 weeks but other more damaging and intentional hits don't carry the same weight??
So frustrating for this to happen just when we are building momentum. Not surprised Lewis is suspended as it was probably going to happen with him at some stage due to his 'unsociable' history. Hogan being out for a few weeks with no prior record is unexpected and going to hurt us big time. We need him structurally as Watts is down on form and Weid is not ready to kick bags or be the number 1 big target.

There must be other vision we haven't seen. The Lewis one of barely worth a fine let alone 3 weeks. Cripps took a dive and got p and minute later laughing as he jogged away. Absolute rubbish!
[censored] you MRP!

hogan will always be needed against any oppo as he takes the best defender.

no side is good enough to not have best players out there if they're fit.

any arrogance is unfounded at melbourne.

So apparently both players had medium impact to their heads. I have a question about that, why is Carlton not being dragged over the coals for allowing two players to continue playing without undergoing concussion tests from the 'medium impact' they both sustained to their heads!

sounds like the Carlton Doc has it in for us a bit, or the boys lied and the club didn't follow the AFL rules around concussion!

I thought was a joke when I read it!  3 for Lewis!??  not much vision but Ive looked closely, there is a forearm to the head. certainly low contact.  cripps goes down and then is magically fine 30 seconds later.

I thought Hogan deserved a week as you cant deck someone off the ball but 2 is harsh

add in the varcoe and thompson ones and I just want to lose my SHITT!

Right on Poita,

Whacking someone in the face doesn't prove your tough, how about kicking 6 goals on them or cleaning them up with quality possessions.

We all know the AFL is inconsistent with the MRP, don't get into that situation in the first place!!!!

Nuffies Lewis and Hogan, they let themselves, teammates and supporters down

I'm not a MFC player, so over confident arrogance is fine. We've earnt enough arrogance to be confident v Freo. Notice I'm not arrogant about Richmond because I think we'll need him, hence a good reason to not contest and lose him for 3.

I agree on Hogan but I thought Lewis was trying to show the way through borderline legal aggression. I dont think we would have won without what Lewis did.  He sparked the brawl and woke us up, he wouldnt have expected to connect like he did and cripps to be a [censored] about it

We must do the same.

Put Spencer in the Forward line.

Yep, now it's a good test. We have guys chomping at the bit to come in, so hopefully they'll be adequate cover.

Vince back and Pedo/Spencer for Hogan. Bugg might find a way in too, he dominated at Casey over the weekend.

I would hope the club publicly calls this out for what it is....

An elbow (both high and intentional) to the head of a player already on the ground only warrants a week.

The MRP has been a joke for years.

Time to speak out, stuff the fines that follow.

The MRP are either corrupt, incompetent or a bit of both. The Hogan penalty is an embarrassment for basically a retaliatory slap and a guy diving to milk  a free kick.1 week  or a fine would have been the outcome if he played for a power cliub. But like much of the AFL they have.little integrity and punish the weak because they are to coward like to take on the big clubs

    GAMEDAY: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie
