FoxFooty saying that O Mac should get the nomination this week.

Also Devil in the Detail I remember you talking about this and I believe there was someone on SEN who was singing his praises as well pre draft and then once we drafted him. Was it the APS grand final where he just ran over Salem and Kelly and showed how good he was? Kelly has clearly shown he is going to be a champion this year and we all believe that Salem once he gets a run at it will challenge him. If Hunt is 2/3 of the player they become we will be very, very lucky.

Robert Shaw and Mark Fine.
Shaw coached Hunt at Brighton Grammar along with Salem and Josh Kelly, and was waxing lyrical about his performance in an APS match (maybe a 'young guns' type match from memory?) where he dominated off HBF.
Shaw said Hunt didn't play TAC cup because of tennis, but that he regularly dominated games with his aerial attack on the ball and pace, and it would only be a matter of time before it translated to AFL level.
To be honest, I was shocked at the time how much they were hyping him up; starting to see why now.

Players with Hunt's attributes are often soft.

He's not.  At all.

He's surprisingly hard at it for such a quick bloke. Almost the complete package really, good mark, loves a goal etc.

Think that was Robert Shaw, who had a connection with his school.

Shaw is the firsts coach at Brighton Grammar.

I think Tippa is too old, he would've got a nom early on if eligible.

Daniel won't get it. Not enough raw talent. Plenty of heart and has had a good year but little x factor. And besides they have been burned by Lewis Taylor.

They will go for talent and there is a big pool to choose from.

Top 4 will be:

Mills, Petracca, Moore and Oliver

It will probably be hard for us to get 4 nominations....but I guess we are the youngest team going around......

Just watched the game again.

I'd almost turn for this lad.

I'm already there. Didn't even need to turn!

Given how many good performances he's put in this year, he absolutely deserves a nomination.

I think that Daniel, Weitering and Parish will get more votes than Moore and Oliver. In fact, Oliver won't get a vote.

Daniel may have less natural talent, but he's had a greater impact on games than the rest, and is playing in a winning team. My top 3 are Daniel, Mills, and Weitering.

He asked Nev to help him with that, Nev said the aggression was in there just needed to flick the switch

I asked Jason Taylor about Hunt when we first recruited him, spotted him whilst they were looking at both Salem and Kelly, impressed from what little they saw of him because of the dominance of Salem and Kelly, believe they were away when the APS game happened and Hunt shone, so we took a punt and still persevered through this injury issues

I'd be pleased for Hunt if he gets the nomination but it really doesn't mean shyte, we know how good he is and we know he will be a super player for us.

I'm happy with Hunt, Oliver, Trac, Harmes, Oscar and all our young kids, if Caleb Daniel wins the award, good luck to him, it won't make him a better player than our boys.

I'll be happy watching Hunt streaming down the middle of the G, at full pace and slamming the ball through the goals, no one is going to worry about the rising star award then.

His 20 possessions include 8 inside 50's, 5 rebound 50's and 2 score assists.

Hes a total weapon all over the ground.

5 of the inside 50s were probably D50 rebounds anyway!

It will be strange if Hunt doesn't get a nomination as he's probably been the best of Melbourne's eligible players this season.

Mills would be the safe bet. I am a punter though, and I love the X factor types. Give me J.Hunt thanks.

Watching Mills it's so hard to go past him. He is already so dependable for the flag favourites while having 2 years less than Hunt and 1 less than Daniel on an AFL list. I'd back Hunt to be as good as Daniel but Mills will be a star of the comp. Has top 5/10 player in the league potential and his stats would be much, much higher in a weaker team. He is playing back out of necessity, not because it's his preferred position.

As another poster said above, it's strange that we have all these nominees but our most consistent eligible player hasn't gotten one. Hunt improves from one week to the next, it's crazy.

I'm finding it hard to separate Hunt and Patracca.  Different style of players, but I think both have significantly impacted games and improved as the season has gone on.  Loving watching both these guys go about their business.

Mills does look like a very solid prospect. And will no doubt be a great player.  I just don't think we've seen anything near Jayden Hunt's ceiling yet.  Extreme pace is such a weapon.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
