He fumbles too much under pressure and has poor awareness plus his kicking is poor.

Take away the romance side of things i hope the club steers away from him.

I tend to agree, the only reason the club would look at him is he's Nathans Brother and you can't recruit on that basis.

Disagree. Swans played a good zone tonight.

Being a good backman isn't just about minding a man. It's about good defensive awareness, whether you're minding space or a player.

Being a good back man is fine but when there's a turnover, which happens too often with young teams like the Demons, there are loose Bulldogs, Saints and Dons everywhere...

A defensive zone dictates full team awareness. Everyone needs to run both ways in transition. Unmanned opponents is a breakdown of that awareness. Man on man does not work in footy and hasn't for 20 years. When it works, you don't notice the zone. But when it doesn't you scream "MAN UP!".

It's a team game and the best teams win flags, and the best teams play an effective zone, and have since the Bombers of 2000. They introduced it.

Agreed on both counts. Has the look of a list clogger.

afl really need to put the foot down about these short kicks less than 15m being paid as marks.

if the umpires can't judge 15m change it to 20m

I think people over-estimate how long 15 metres is.

You should be able to kick the ball three times from full-back straight down the guts and not reach the 50m line, with each one being 15 metres.

If they kick it from the top of the square that can't happen

Just on Jones, I would have said Nathan had "poor awareness" and "poor" kicking as a younger player. If he has the same drive to improve as his brother then he could still make it, but we should be aiming higher now.

I had the Swans tipped but changed 5 minutes before the bounce.

I always tip the winner but change my tip at the last second as well.

I only watched the first half due to having to watch paint dry but the Hawks appear cooked. Hard to write them off completely but so far they're not a very convincing top 6 team. Three of their wins were only by a few points or less.

I still think he's a bloke we might be able to get on the cheap.  Hasn't done a great deal for the Swans so far, but he competes and is good defensively, so would still be worth a look if he became available.

I normally agree with you Wiseblood. Not here though. Time will tell but to me he looks very off the pace.

Next to us belting the Lions, Jeremy Howe lining up on the HBF where he's been named and playing like he did for us in that position would make my weekend  (remembering Bucks claims that he'd been played out of position)- Further fuel for the Collingwood list management funeral pyre.

Tigeris to Beat thin niti5-tanking tanking Dockers in the west.

Essendon to beat The Saints.

GWS to beat the throwers by 10 goals.

If only we had learned to throw/shuffle/flick the ball as well as the Hawks have done since 2008 and other teams since Ethan, In particular the doggies also who have no doubt picked up the same/similar skills from ex hawk Bevo since last year.

Havent seen the blues of late as Im OS atm but wouldnt surprise me If their ball movement out of congestion has sped up significantly as well with many more quick entries Inside 50.

Reckon we would win a fair bit more (and a few more In previous years)  If we got In the act more seriously also.

You will never catch these teams and beat/match them If u dont.

Why is it called a goal square anyway?

Because "kick out quadrilateral" must have been already taken, and "goal square" is one syllable too many for most commentators anyway ...

Selwood lowered his kness/body on that "around the neck" (I think) but I had to watch it 4-5 times for confirmation.  And even then one can't be sure.  That type of decision (or non decision) is impossible to see clearly in real time (consistently)

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
