Changes vs Essendon

jumbo returns

Recommended Posts

I think both Gus and Lumumba will both play another game at Casey before being considered.  If Lumumba can get back to some good form he releases Vince to midfield and we become a lot more damaging forward of centre.   I think Dunn for O Mac is the logical one, but considering we're playing the Bombers, they may go with another runner as well.

Dunn in,  O Mac out

Tyson out [couple weeks @ Casey focusing on what to do with the pill when he gets it]  Brayshaw or Petracca in.

Possible Bugg out [2 huge mistakes in Q1]     in-  H, Brayshaw or Terlich (only if he's as improved as some say)

Out Omac, maybe Bugg and one of Pedo or Frost, too tall with both.

In Dunn, Brayshaw, H.

H frees up Vince to go back into the middle of the ground where he belongs.

Nope we need skills at half back. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Add an extra mid, don't move Vince from where he is needed for Lumumba's lack of skills/smarts

I disagree, get Vince getting the ball from the mid forward, he is not a great defender nor is Salem. One is ok, two equals lose players for them. If Salem stays on half back, Vince needs to go in the midfield.

Brayshaw in for Bugg (Tyson is lucky)

Dunn in for O.Mac

Lumumba in but not sure who for. Maybe Frost (Harmes's best is better) - and we push Tyson forward.

I still don't get why people have such a hard-on for Frost.  Even if he gets it, you know he won't kick the goal.  By any measure, Pederson had more impact today even below his best.

I don't understand the "experience" comments re Lumumba.. All i've seen is him getting the ball, running with it and banging it it a mile in the air,

On a slightly different matter, does anyone think think this this years scarf is a bit short?

Took a number of good marks and otherwise got to the right spots down back. We needed him in the midfield after half time but we don't solve our lack of skill from half back with Lumumba. If the plan was Vince and Salem we should stick to it.

The defenders will get more cohesion as they work together.

Lumumba can come in and play half back and bit of wing, similar to how Bugg played, but I still think we need one of Jones and Vince back there. We need skill and smarts back there.

Out: O. McDonald (injured or dropped), Brayshaw

In: Dunn, Harmes/Bugg

I would not be upset if Tyson was dropped, Frost stays in simply to help Gawn and Pedersen in the ruck.

Now that is a neat trick CB poor Brayshaw gets  flung when he did not play today.

Dunn in for O Mac straight swap and that improves our backline.

Love to see Brayshaw back.

Agree. Dunn for OMac. But I think Gus, H and Tracc will get at least another week at Casey before consideration. Obviously also depends upon match ups. Wonder if Garlett will get cited by MRP

I think the first game for the Scorps is 9/2 so we can't drop anyone to the twos otherwise I would be saying drop Tyson just so he can work out what to do with a bit more time up his sleeve. As some one else suggested he may be able to do that against the bummers. Omac had a run and will benefit from it and Dunny should be back in for him. Leave Brayshaw JT and Petracca where they are this week at least. Trust the selectors to do what they will with Lumumba. Lots to look forward to, lots to be excited about. Maybe their bad kicking helped us but our lack of conversions from inside 50's helped them  so I reckon that squares it up a bit.

In: Dunn, Brayshaw

Out: OMac (inj), Bugg/Frost

I'm not convinced Lumumba is best 22 so I don't think he's automatically back in.

Not sure who to drop for Brayshaw. Might be a tall, I felt we were too tall at times in the forward line. If so I'd drop Frost. He's just a more mobile Dawes at the moment but a worse shot for goal and no better at marking. If not, then I'd drop Bugg. Harmes offers a little more as a half-forward who can snag a goal or two (but absolutely needs to lift his output).

Out:OMac

In: Brayshaw or H.

I think we were a little tall today, and Frost and Pedo up front clogged up the forward line. Watts is the third tall doesn't crowd Hogan as much. Against the bombers I don't think we need to load up with talls, and should not go like for like.

Pedo can take CHB for next week, did a good job when moved there late I thought.

The Prince is a possibility for next week.

agreed chook.  if the prince comes in, & Vince stays at back flank, Salem could come up to wing?

frost could go back to CHB, or pedo?

interesting selection week.

We won so I don't reckon the boat will get too much of a shake but Brayshaw is best 22 and must come in.

Someone else can work it out.

I not sure we can afford an underdone Brayshaw & Oliver,  in the same side.  can't drop Oliver.

I think Brayshaw needs a full game,  before he comes back after a month off training/running.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
