POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 11

Demonland

Recommended Posts

Watts was strong today (like all of them, only for three quarters). Not the game to get stuck into Watts. This from a documented Watts sceptic.

Watts was ok.

At least a dozen and half in front of him warranting criticism.

Well done Jackie...from paid up critic

We weren't bad for 3 quarters

We weren't even good for a whole quarter. Every couple of minutes we would make an horrendous error and just gift them goals.

I don't understand posts like these. Did we draft him to become the next Glenn Archer? He goes when it's his turn to go (see the lead up to Viney's goal), he laid 8 tackles and his foot skills were on show for all to see. 2 excellent goals.

I guess you're just a glass half-empty kind of guy.

There's nothing to understand about that post SS. It's just a frank misjudgement. Toumpas frequently put his body into the contest today, tackled hard and pressured well. He is most certainly NOT just an outside player. Prejudice just creates a kind of blindness.

I have come to the conclusion we are never going to be a good side.. I'm that far beyond angry im literally at peace with it. It's like a seeing a family member struggle with health until they die, and once you accept it, your at peace with it. I can't take it anymore. The players choose the wrong options time and time again. They go long when they should go short, they go short when they should go long, they play on when they should go back and take their kick, they take their kick when they should play on, they handball when they should kick, they kick when they should handball, they go fast when they should go slow, they go slow when they should go fast... They do everything wrong. There is only a handful of players on this list that isn't mentally F'd up.. It includes Nathan jones. The young players such as Hogan & Brayshaw then the older ones such as Vince & Cross, apart from that their all mental issues that will never be reversed. It will take us 10 years to rid ourselves of it

Again, I must be watching a different game, but Grimesy didn't put a foot wrong tonight, and hasn't for the last month and a bit. I am absolutely baffled he was dropped last week.

You're probably right, but I feel he's lost his confidence? Gets caught behind his man quite a bit.

Had a shocker against Port....

Whether we won or lost it makes no difference. A kick here or there represents no discernible differential.

The Saints are rebuilding after a few grand finals and they're as good as us when we've been rebuilding for a decade. That's what's gutting. Roos has been great for the club, buy I actually wish this was his last year. He's too negative about our past and this has to have some rub off on the players. He's always talking about where we've been. And I'm sick of it.

Chucked am absolute spaz when they kicked that last goal. Only MFC could snatch defeat from the jaws of victory like that. Retards.

Guess we now have to suffer the sugar coaters telling us how much we have improved when they get home from the game and start posting................

MFC = GAGF.

Yep - I am usually guilty of this but [censored] that!

On a side not those two umpire calls on marks - 1st not paying Jesse Hogans mark and then paying the saints one on the 50 WOW!

Seriously don't know how much more of this [censored] I can take

I am starting to feel like that too. And when I have a glimmer of hope that our side is really starting to look on the up we have [censored] injuries to all our up and coming young players Hogan Petracca Kent Salem etc..

We just can't take a trick honestly

Agree 100%. Made mistakes but great improvement. Watts solid. Brayshaw unbelievable. Hogan epic. Bring back Salem, Kent, Frost. A good nucleus.

Today was a complete failure of on field leadership. Can you imagine Pendles or Hodge or Selwood or Harvey or Watson (even) or Hannerbury allowing that to happen? They (and their mates ) would just DO WHAT NEEDED TO BE DONE what did Jones think he was doing at CHF?

Have calmed down a fair bit now...

Some baffling errors in that last 40 odd seconds: Jones (our best midfielder) not in the centre while we were playing one on one in defence when we should've had more than half of the team back there ready for the entry.

Was delighted Hogan kicked 5 but he should've kicked 6-7 and and hammered the last nail in the Saints' coffin, lord knows he had the opportunities. Saying that, there are plenty of positives: Watts, Toumpas (second half) and Grimes all played their best games for some time and Vince and Nate Jones continue to rack up the ball.

Still looking at a 6-7 win season (hopefully)

And those rubbishing Toumpas are blinded by their bias. Two goals, 26 touches and 8 tackles. That's a gun game. Okay, so he may have been at fault for the last goal, but I reckon the whole team (especially the leaders) have to cop the blame for that.

Was Pedersen injured? Our forward line had no structure in the last quarter. The only time we looked to have six forwards was when we hit the front.

Also, the last quarter was very short and the runner should have been out on the ground giving instructions as Howe lined up for goal. Poor coaching IMO.

Jones was out of the centre square a lot tonight and must be carrying an injury.

ANB wasn't up to speed.

Good to see Toumpas and Watts play well and Hogan is a star already.

Just got home from the game. Oh my god, that was the worst last quarter of footy ive seen in a long time. Basic skill errors that should not happen at and afl level.

But what got me was the set up in the middle after Howe kicked that goal. We didnt seem to man up and we left so much space in there no wonder it got cleared out easily. Then we should have had more numbers back. Montagna should have never been given that free space just to run into an open goal. So frustrating.

We didn't lose this game in the last 40 seconds we lost it playing that stupid defensive no scoring game our players are being taught . Don't take the game on and try and win learn to create stoppages slow the game down don't spread handball instead of kicking forward and the saints out played and out coached us like most other sides do. We are two years behind them at least . But with some on field leadership we could have fallen over the line . We also have at least five non AFL standard players in our line up.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
