Comments on the couch? Costing "cuddles" his job?

A. Did we tank?

If yes..

B. Doesnt matter how we got caught doing it, if we did it, we suffer

Dont shoot the (minor part of it all) messenger here guys

That's funny because I distinctly remember the AFL ruling that we didn't tank...

I'd take him back. I simply enjoyed his footy.

And if he was the person who, via his On The Couch comments, made the football community investigate our brilliant policy called "the benefits of loosing" then I am actually glad he did.

Did he drop us in it? You bet. And if he didn't we would still have Connolly, Schwab & Co making players wear blazers and every other crazy thing, without any vision to become a success-driven club.

Is he [censored]? Yes. Are his social activities questionable? Yes.

But I simply like his footy.

if brock did not say what he did on the couch then we would not have Roos and co and the recent successful drafts we have had. Who knows where we would have been as the club may have still been trying to ride that culture to get more cheap picks. All in all its history, do what is best for the club.

What did Brad Green say to Mike Sheehan about tanking? I must have missed that part of the programme.

If I remember rightly, McLean was said to have left the club when he was offered a lower contract figure by the club than he was being paid on his old contract and Carlton offered him more. When he appeared on OTC he inferred he left because of the tanking he alleged was going on at Melbourne but we all know Carlton were the masters of the art of tanking so if that's so, why do you think he chose them?

BTW, I do agree he was a pawn in the whole saga, but if so, who made used him as a pawn and for what purpose?

Brad Green talked very nervously about his meeting with Mclardy as i recall, he didn't mention the word "tanking" but it wasn't hard to work out there was big "Trouble at Mill"

Re Mclean being a pawn, i believe Sheehan and Healy used their positions to open the dam walls...Vlad had his ears covered before then probably for legal reasons

The outcome was ugly as we all know...But in my opinion it would have been a lot worse if it had been covered up for longer.

Whatever you think of Mclean he did leave mates at the club

Playing to lose as a supporter totally sucked the life out of me, regardless of the draft picks we recieved

I cannot imagine what it would be like as a player...Sometimes dangerous i would say...Mind not fully on the job at hand...

Roos might just scrape a year or to out of Mclean as a big bodied mid who can still use the ball in tight

Who knows what the meetings of coaches and recruiters are speaking of....

If he was in the side, he would be taking the place of others I would prefer to be playing. We drafted Cross and Vince to help out Jones as the seniors in the midfield - I don't think we need another.

I think this is not a bad idea. He did play some terrific games for us, including almost single handedly executing our last finals win, against St Kilda I seem to remember. We do have a very young, and potentially very talented team, but we do lack seriously experienced heads, particularly in close games. It must worry the powers that be that we led in so many games last season in the last quarter but were too often beaten. This is largely about lack of experience, and on field leadership. McLean gives us a lot of this, much more than Cross IMHO.

To me, this is a typical Roos ruse....if you pardon the pun!

Take him. Proven midfielder, gives his all and at worst would be a depth player for 2 years. Like it or not he would be in our best 22

Brock has put in some really good games with the Blues. Putting him on the rookie list is not so silly as some think. Adds experience and depth.

It is very silly. Too slow in a a midfield that lacks leg speed

We don't need depth in the midfield.

We lack class. He offers us none of that.

Theres no way I'd take Mclean back.. Not only did he leave us for Carlton, he waited until he was getting a few games to throw us under the bus! I love how he thought he was getting another year to be shafted just like he shafted the club that gave him a start..

If he wants to pay the 500 k, He cost the club. He is more than welcome! (To FCUK right off and call it even)

Will be playing for Aberfeldie next year

Bloody norah. We have a nice quiet street with no skid marks on the road (I live near the Aberfeldie footy ground). I was hoping we could keep it that way.

To those wanting MCLean back (leaving aside the political issues) a genuine question:

Is Carlton's midfield so good that they could afford to drop an aged player that would be of use to us?

Could Brock McLean help us win more than 4 games in 2015, is the only question that needs to be asked here. If he spends 15 games taking hits at Casey while Stretch and ABN get 30 touches a game, so be it. If he comes in for 10 games and covers the role Trengove wouldve played, then even better.

Everyone goes on about "Whatever it takes" but turns their noses up at someone who used to bleed for the club because of a few poorly timed, but entirely true comments. If brock makes us 1% better then so be it

I don't think that's the right question at all. The better question would be, can he help us develop a team which will challenge for a Premiership within a few years? Winning 5 games in 2015...or 7 or 10 is irrelevant if that's all we achieve. If it's a stepping stone to something grander, by all means he could be considered. But I fail to see how anyone over the age of 25 is worth putting on as a rookie at our stage of development.

Because currently we have had a big influx of kids this draft, to balance the list we might need to look at bringing in some more experience. If not at the rookie stage then invest some money with Casey to pick up a few players who will help carry the load.

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
