This was the game that really stands out for me.

Even though Melbourne lost, he just seemed to have the ball on a string that day.

That might have been the last time a Demon player kicked 5 goals in a game

Geez we have been pathetic at scoring the last few seasons

As a club, we have really had bad luck with our forwards that struggle with one injury after another.

Jurrah had his high ankle and then thumb, took time off to get over the injuries and never came back.

Clarke had the foot, hamstring etc, took some time off and never came back.

Hogan had the back then the ???????, took some time off and _____________ .

Let us pray.

Such a waste of talent.

My son still has his signed #24 jersey which he still wears.

I always said that he wasn't half the player he was wearing 24 as he was on 48.

But I am truly confident - often a bad accolade from a Demon diehard - that the current #24 despite some obvious similarities will be as exciting a player and one with far more longevity that Liam.

GO DEES

Geez we have had some bad luck with players.

Look at what our forward 50 could have possibly looked like with Jurrah, Wonna, MC, Dawes and Hogan.

Now that would have been something to watch.

U never know though it could be Dawes, Hogan, JKH and Cameron. Still not bad.

That was only 4 years ago, and only 8 of the players who played in that game are still on our list. Wow.

I wonder if Roos has considered the challenge of overseeing a Jurrah return to Melbourne. I think second chances and succeeding against enormous odds, as well as drawing on some deep MFC origins, all in a player only 25 years, would raise his interest.

Just returned from a holiday in the N.T. and the game in Darwin. A week in Alice convinced me talking to locals that Liam's biggest challenge will be to keep off the grog and out of jail. His chances of playing footy again are zero. His court order on release are that he must not drink alcohol for 12 months and he is to keep out of Yuendumu and Alice. Not one local I spoke to had a good word for him and attitude to women.

It was Blease against St Kilda in round 20, 2012 during contract signing season. Kicked 5 straight. Done SFA before that game and SFA ever since. I hope he doesn't get the same chance again.

  • 3 weeks later...

14.2 sounds good on paper but his defensive acts and tackle count was low.

We don't need players who just kick goal after goal.

Oh for god sake , we talk about bad picks and mistakes the club has made in the past. Yes Jurrah was a freak but it was nothing to do with bad luck it was a bad pick plain and simple.

Harsh yes maybe but at the end of the day it was Jurrah taken over Rockliff

Move on he is not for AFL anymore

Allen Jakovich - Back

David Schwarz - Knees

Gary Lyon - Back

A bit depressing really.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
