Almost certainly would have taken Lewis Taylor. Would be nice to have Daniel McStay but I don't think it's possible to argue with any effect that trading for Vince was anything other than a masterstroke/best practice.

We would have taken Lewis Taylor. Fact is that if Salem been taken before our pick we would have taken Taylor hands down.

While Taylor will be a gun we needed Bernie Vince impact straight away. Put it this way we wouldn't have won on the weekend without Vince. At the time we needed midfield class and experience and thas what Bernie bring.

This alone tells you that Jason Taylor has an eye for serious talent. The fact that he rated him a top 10 pick and he lasted till 28 shows that either Salem or Taylor would have been a good pick,

That's a bit contrived and if you go down that path, we did not give up a 10-12 year A-B grade midfielder for him.

We gave up pick 23, which could have been anyone and anything. I'm personally very happy with Vince, who is exactly the kind of player we needed - mature and hungry for the contest.

A lot more risk with picking up a kid as opposed to Vince. We'd have to let him develop, we have to pick to right kid (no guarantee we'd pick Crouch), plus he wasn't what we needed at the time. We needed someone to be able to walk into the team with experience to give Jones another seasoned body around him.

The value of having Vince as someone to help with the development of Brayshaw, Petracca, Viney, ANB, Stretch etc is something you also have to consider.

I simply look at it as Sylvia for Vince, Crows got something good, we got something good, and Freo got a lemon.
