He does realise even if he does move he he will still be demonlands whipping boy ... right?

If he leaves who are we going to pay out? Toumpas?

We're short on top-line mids but not whipping boys.

WYL the entire "out of contract" playing group might be waiting!!!

It's what i would be doing.

The last lot left the place an absolute shambles. You cannot blame the players for waiting on new appointments.

The only quote - which is from his manager and not Watts himself - just says they're waiting for a coaching appointment. It says absolutely nothing of the sort regarding threats to walk. But by all means, jump the gun, accuse him blackmail, call him names etc.

Isn't that the purpose of Demonland?

Let him go, cartons 1st pick and garlett/yarran/betts and jack can go cop far worse venom from blues fans than he ever got here!!

Gives us a small forward we crave, and an extra dip at a top mid talent/trade bait for experienced mid we need even more

Posted

Maybe if him and about 15 of his team mates played footy with a heart we wouldn't be changing coaches every couple of years.

Pick 88 is more than that girl will ever be worth.

I have no problem with this. If I were in his situation, I'd want to know who I was playing for as well. Not just the coach but the board and the entire makeup of the FD are going to be decided in the next few months. He'd feel like a bit of an idiot if he signed and they then appointed someone who he clashed with as badly as Beamer did with Neeld. Nobody wins out of that.

Thanks, that explains it all, his manager, nothing to do with Jack, never speaks to his manager at all, probably never even met him , clears that up.

I recall him saying not long after Neeld got the flick he was more likely to stay around for the long haul. Wish I could remember where I saw it. Anyone else recall that presser?

Isn't that the purpose of Demonland?

Character assassination is just a sideline here.

I think of it more as a disinterest group.

Paul Connors has been in this game too long to accidentally mean "Watts is waiting on the club to sort itself out". Watts is definitely waiting for the new coach. It's his prerogative, but it's also a window into his mental state. Jack Watts needs a particular coach to be the best he can be. It should be Jack Watts will be a damn good footballer regardless of coach.

That is the normal course of events on Dlander isn't it?

He'll stay it must be a slow news day.

I would say ooc players would be of the same mind set.

Shite after our last outstanding 7 years I would be waiting to.

Where does it say in the article that Watts will only re-sign if he approves of the new coach?

What's that?.... oh, it doesn't.

"We're going to wait until there is a coach in place" - which Jackson has said will be at the end of the season. Of course he'll take his time and try and bump up his price. All other 'opinions' in the article are that of Jake Niall, and we all know how trustworthy and fact-finding the senior footy writers are at The Age.

Lets not jump to wild conclusions.

Maybe he'll sign regardless of who the coach is, but this way he can make it look like he's supportive of whoever they pick, then the masses can agree and say "hey THIS coach must be the one for us... Jack says so..."

I for one would struggle if he left.... Not angry, just really really disappointed

Posted

This could equally mean 'we're going to wait for a new coach so that we can sign a contract that reflects what the new coach wants'.

And at any rate, given he's been played forward, back and ruck this year, maybe he's interested in knowing what his future holds?

Posted

I think Watts is just being loyal to Neil Craig by holding off.

Because we know Watts will sign if Craig is coach, so maybe Watts is just being loyal.

With the amount of stick Jack has already copped in his career, there is no way he'd leave.

If he left, he'd cop it ten fold worse.

Opposition sides love to hate on Melbourne, but if Watts left, they'd hate on him.

I have heard from a good source that Jack is holding out because he is disappointed that, although he has improved and is showing glimpses of being a future star of the game he still hasn't made it onto the Demonland banner. :P

Rightfully so, when Jack Trengoves getting a gig on the banner, I'd say the majority of the side would be peeved.

Roos, Eade or Williams.... Is there one that Jack would not sign on to work under??

No

But theres no guarantee we hire any of those guys

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
