Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Great news.  Selection for the first final will be very interesting, especially if we beat GWS and all the mids perform well.

The only one that probably doesn't think this is great news is Tyson.

I hope they know what they're doing this time as we really can't have Viney on the sidelines again for the next 8 months because he came back too early yet again.

if he comes back, based on the 22 that played yesterday and our current rate of injury returnees, i'd think it'd be spargo that he replaces

i'm intrigued by the notion of him getting a run for casey during the bye week

there's no reason we should even require special dispensation for that as both teams seasons are ongoing so he should be allowed to suit up, i think?

If Casey are playing finals at the time, Viney won’t be eligible to play.

A player must have played 6 games or more to be eligible to take part in VFL finals. This rule was one of the ones created to stop teams stacking their VFL teams with AFL players come finals time to gain an unfair advantage.

I think the rule changed last year:  if a player does not play in the last H&A game they can play VFL in the bye week.

Viney has barely played in 18 months so I reckon it would be a good idea to give him a VFL run, even for 10 minutes a quarter.  Partly to get a bit of match fitness and partly to see how the foot goes.  If he is going to break down again I would rather it be at Casey than in an Elimination Final.

Edit: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-03-24/prefinals-bye-forces-vfl-into-new-eligibility-rule Quote:  The relevant clause states that 'if an AFL club's VFL team is playing on the bye weekend, any AFL-listed player who did not play in the AFL club's AFL team in the final round of the home and away season will be eligible to play in the club's VFL team.'

The provision is only applies to the VFL final on the bye round and not subsequent finals.

I believe we got special permission to play him.

Once again Jones doesn't stand up.

He's a dumb and limited footballer, and he's certainly a poor onfield leader.

How did Jones go on the weekend? Eat some humble pie, the guy carried our club through its worst period.

Where is the respect.

Just saw Jack so I’ve got a bit of an update.

I was driving and he was walking so I didn’t get a chance to speak to him.

But in the split second that I drove past him, he didn’t seem to be in any discomfort. He wasn’t even looking at his feet.

Will try to write more later.

What sort of shoes was he wearing? Was he not looking down at his feet because he has an injured neck and can’t look down? Was he smiling?

Good idea to have a VFL run, since Wojinski isn’t playing ?

Mate, if I answer those questions, Jack won’t trust me to drive past him in the future.

I just can’t risk the relationship we have.

Sorry.

Without Viney there definitely seems to be a greater 'sharing' of the ball, its carry and its disposal to a teammate.

I hope they play Viney on a half forward flank or forward pocket. Team has found some rhythm so would be disappointing to upaet that too much just to squeese him in. Although you know he's the sort of player who will rise to the occasion

He's walking, because he can't sit in the car.  Constipation, sore hammy's, and glute.   Trying to walk it out. ?

Great news.  Selection for the first final will be very interesting, especially if we beat GWS and all the mids perform well.

Based on the last couple of weeks, pretty easy selection choice - Spargo out; Viney in.

Given many of our small-medium forwards play midfield at times, it'll just modify the midfield minutes for a few players.

Yup, that will likely be the swap.   I will feel for Spargo who has played so much of the season and performed well, but hes 18 and had a long career ahead of him.

Jack Viney for a tiring 18 year old is about a big as an upgrade as you can get.  Bring on the Elimination Final!

It's impossible to fathom the thinking of many posters here.

  • "Viney upsets the balance of the midfield",
  • "Viney's not that good anyway",
  • "Viney will never play again".

He's a bona fide star who won the 2016 B&F at 22.  He makes us better and I am hope he is able to get back for finals as planned.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
