Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 14

Viney should get off. Have calmed down now from what was the most exciting win I've witnessed in years. Lesser teams would have thrown in the towel with 5 minutes to go, to keep pushing and get over the line shows incredible resilience. Super proud of the MFC tonight. Can't wait for Friday now.

What a supremely gutsy win! The absolute trust in the system and belief in themselves, looks to be solidifying weekly, and who knows where it will lead! To win against the odds tonight, and with significant injuries before and during the game, shows the fine fighting character of our beloved team. Go Dees!

Given we rarely wind consecutive games, dont play well in perth this was an awesome win, we were undermanned, had a lot of players playing poorly, injuries, some poor umpiring decisions but the players kept pushing through, kept up the momentum that won them the game. One of the best wins in years. could not be more proud of the team

Tonight was a massive step up for players like Melksham, Harmes, ANB and Hannan. With Hogan, Watts and Jones to come back in, some players are going to be very unlucky in a few weeks. We now have about 25-28 players to pick from who can deliver at AFL level on most occasions.

Melksham and Hannan in particular are looking better and better with every match.

I reckon Pedersen started to look like he was going to impact by crashing through contests in the third quarter. And then those marks in the last quarter.

Interesting to see what we do when Hogan's ready to come back.

I think tonight showed we still need a little more marking power. Watts isn't really a contested mark, so I count him as more of a small to medium link player.  So we'd have Gawn, Hogan, Pedersen, T McDonald, O McDonald as our true talls. Watts and Frost would be our talls who can play smaller than they are. I think we can go with that, and it would probably be more sustainable that what we had to cobble together tonight.

I thought Hannan was exceptional, Harmes was also good (has really improved his gut running). ANB does a lot right defensively but still turns it over far too much IMO. Melksham is a role player, we seem to set him a task each week and I reckon he's doing pretty well as a defensive forward.

Fabulous win, one for the ages.

Next week will be interesting. Only 6 days, and injury cloud over Viney, Salem and Garlett. Watts back in, but for the rest, getting to be a war of attrition.

I wouldn't bet on it.... Channel 7 just parrot what is expected of them by the AFL.  Agenda bias

Can't even discuss the actual game yet, only how the win felt.

I was at the ground. I brought a ticket through Ticketmaster and some how ended up sitting in an Eagles reserved seating section. I literally could not see another Melbourne supporter. I was by myself. I cheered everything we did and got stared at, people whispered about me, one woman asked her husband if they could move away. I wasn't badly behaved. I was just passionate.

Because those Eagles supporters they don't understand - I fell in love with this footy club in 1987. I was sitting with my old man on the half forward flank when Jimmy ran over the mark and Buckenara kicked the goal in the Prelim. I've sat through horrible horrible performances - multiple 100 point floggings at the G (just 4 years ago). I'd do it all again for that win, and the effort and energy we showed to drag ourselves over the line in that last quarter.

When Tommy Mac kicked the last goal I went bananas. And then when the siren went I went absolutely ballistic. You know those sad people at sporting events going nuts who you think 'calm down mate, maybe you need more going on in your life'? - that was me!

Im pretty sure I looked like the slow mo of Stevie J when he kicked the sealer a couple of weeks back - but in real time.

It was ugly. I don't care. That was an absolute delight.

I love this footy club, and I love that I at least have a place on the internet to share something like this with people who get it.

Go The Dees. I believe.

I reckon you might have had the best supporter experience tonight, and that's saying something!

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
