  1. What a supremely gutsy win! The absolute trust in the system and belief in themselves, looks to be solidifying weekly, and who knows where it will lead! To win against the odds tonight, and with significant injuries before and during the game, shows the fine fighting character of our beloved team. Go Dees!
  2. Goodness gracious me, that was a complete performance! I agree with the others in this thread; our best performance for the year! 4 quarters of manic pressure and sublime ball movement. Go Dees!
  3. The bulk of our players are aged between 21-24, so the time to live up to our often talked about potential, is now. We are no longer a young developing team, and to be honest, i'm sick of hearing that. Playing teams that we should beat, even with key injuries, the 'rub of the green' against us, and generally not playing our best footy, quality teams/clubs simply find a way to win those types of games. We've lost all of ours this year, we are a long way off.....
  4. I really enjoy hearing about how we're a developing team (for the last 10 years.....).
  5. In my opinion, these are the only two jumpers we should wear (other than speciality games like indigenous round, ANZAC, breast cancer awareness match etc). Red and Blue.....always.
  6. Superb win Dees! The collective defensive effort in all areas of the ground after midway through the second quarter, was just sublime. It set the foundation for us to play the attacking offensive game we like to play, therefore creating multiple scoring opportunities. The effort by the players, and Goody's coaching were both first rate. Now it's time to be the masters of our destiny (like the Saints are doing, currently sitting 5th on the ladder) and back it up with the same level of intensity against North Melb next week. Go Dees!
  7. I honestly felt that MFC were really starting to establish enough of a precedence in terms of effort and pressure on the opposition, that our days of sub par effort and intensity, were over. I was wrong. Today was the only loss this season where I felt we simply didn't "turn up" (and 1.5 quarters of energy to make the scoreboard look respectable, doesn't make up for that). The other losses were at least due to lack of conversion and/or leadership and/or injuries during the game, but todays overall effort, was bottom four standard. I'm really starting to question my mental state for believing that we are anything more than mediocre, and for allowing myself to be so emotionally invested in this club (which is quite likely cursed). A lifetime of very little joy, and so much pain, and yet year after year, I still go back for more.
  8. I thought the days of the Dees showing up looking disinterested were over, obviously not. Our self proclaimed brand/standard of being a high pressure, fierce tackling team, is not even close to being met today. We won't win too many games when not meeting that baseline standard.
  9. The consistent theme over the last three weeks has been; long periods of domination, without fully capitalising on the scoreboard. We spend too many "petrol tickets" without enough reward. The first couple of rounds we tended to "lower our eyes" and were subsequently finding targets inside 50. The last three weeks, our entries have been a lot less methodical (for whatever reason). Our injuries in last nights game were definitely a factor, but if we correct the issue mentioned above, we would have been at least 40pts up at 3/4 time. There is a lot to like, and I feel we've got the list and coaching group to seriously challenge within the next few years. However, as a long suffering Dees person, I sincerely understand the frustration that many are feeling.
  10. I feel that it's super important to ensure the sponsor on the back of the jumper is a strong brand, which will in turn strengthen our brand. A strong brand in my opinion would be a reputable car company, (BMW or Peugeot sounds good for us, although it may clash with AHG's interests), or a technology company (eg. iinet - Hawthorn), an airline (eg. Emirates - Collingwood), or a brand synonymous with being fresh and innovative (iSelect fits that bill, and was a good-get for the ladies jumper). I thought the Webjet and Opel combo was quite good, although I personally felt that the last few years of having a web address (ahg.com.au) on the back of the jumper, cheapened our brand. Web addresses are so 2005 anyway, just google it! If MFC is taking its time towards signing a strong brand, then I feel it'll be worth the wait. Fingers crossed.
  11. I like the idea of simply inverting our home jumper as the best way to maintain our brand identity and tradition, whilst satisfying the AFL rules. West Coast and Richmond have both followed that path, and I reckon their clash jumpers look smart, whilst maintaining their brand identity.
