Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Considering the degree of difficulty and time of the game, I don't think you'll see many first AFL goals better than Windsor's.

Very good mates apparently.

Have been really impressed with Windsor’s composure in traffic and ability to use his agility to weave out of stoppage.

His inside game and ability in the contest is much further along than I saw from him last year and think he’ll eventually get some CBA’s as the season goes on. It’s a massive bonus (and weapon) for us going forward. I know our recruitment team loved Watson, but they were pretty bullish on Windsor. 4 games in and we can already see why.

Gallagher got the nod this week, nothing against him but 90% of AFL players could get those numbers against WC.

Thinking the same thing. Surely the opposition has to count for something.

Also the complexity of goals kicked.

They probably just looked at the stats sheet and figured 16 and 2 goals is obviously better than 12 and 1.

I’d be amazed if he didn’t get a nomination before the mid season break.

I am certain Saunders will get 25 touches against the Eagles today and get nominated over Windsor's low possession high impact game in a finals like atmosphere. Its just the AFL way.

Congrats to Western Builldog’s Harvey Gallagher for his 2 goal/16 possession nomination in his sides 76 point drubbing of West Coast. At least the AFL is predictable.

we’ve clearly found one here in Windsor but he hasn’t been in the best 10 players on the ground in any of our matches so far so I don’t think we should be upset by the lack of rising star nomination…

Also just remember that Jaidyn Stephenson and Lewis Taylor have won the award in the last decade. I’m comfortable there remains hope for Caleb if he doesn’t clinch the esteemed medal.

I'm yet to see much from him at AFL level that convinces me, but it's round 3 and it's so difficult to show your talent playing in such a dreadful team. I'm sure he'll prove me wrong with time.

I should have worded it better - I think Windsor is more suited to our current needs. Maybe in a few years we'll be in more need of a Reid type, but I'd take Windsor over Reid this season from what I've seen so far.

Let’s not hide the fact that once Reid was  gone our target was Windsor. Yes it was “needs” based but he was and is now showing every inch a No 7 pick in any AFL draft. His upside is huge and another great first round JT pick.

Go the Duke.

I personally love his pace and tackling pressure. I think Hunter really hurt us last year. I was stoked we got him but have been underwhelmed with his output since. Things that stick in my mind from last year on hunter:

  • his desire to break tackles and lose (holding ball/turnover),
  • his aggressive kicking that kept missing targets (turnovers). Hunter is meant to be a fantastic kick yet match after match last year his kicks were landing 1 m short (ball up/turnover as a result).
  • credit though he did slot some very hard boundary line shots.

Overall, i think we are a little too similar for speed as a team, and picket/CW add that point of difference that just helps our bulls so much (i keep thinking Isaac Smith when i see him play and wonder on his output vs smith at a similar age).

Unfortunately these things are a popularity contest. Any time a club with a big supporter base has a player nominated the weight of numbers gets them over the line.

Caleb didn't go to Caulfield Grammar, but those two are best mates.

Without being bias, and on limited viewing, I’d have him top of the class. Dursma looks good too.

From what I've seen, Harley Reid is already WC's best player. (Bit like Clarry in his first year.)

Oscar Allen goes alright, although is currently injured. A player you can build a spine around.

Love watching him play, and can't wait to see what he becomes. Gives me a Steven Stretch vibe, but with a lot more toughness. And for a young kid, he is still running late in games which is a huge benefit in its own right.

I just hope the selectors don't give Hunter his place at any stage. He might not get the amount of ball Hunter does but his effectiveness with it is way in front of Hunter's.

I don't reckon any of his games are Rising star worthy yet, but internally I get the feeling the coaches are ecstatic over what he is bringing.

Steven Stretch was unfairly labelled soft for maybe 2 incidents in his whole career. One involved Dippa so surely doesn't count. Sublime skills, could run all day and didn't mind a goal.......soft.....pfffffft

Wasn't suggesting Stretch wasn't tough, and agree that it is an unfair descriptor of him as a footballer. I just reckon Windsor has a attitude about him that allows him to be an over-the-ball player as well as an outside runner, to a greater degree than Stretch.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
