Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

It's a long  season so you have to invest your MFCSS wisely. Thursday is a regulation win. The Lions in the following match worry me a little more.

Could do without a new injury each week

MFCSS is an unlimited resource surely? If we could tap into it, we'd power the whole world infinitely.

Please don’t list your eventual sub as an out or last week’s sub as an in. It’s confusing.

E.g, May in, Hore out

Woey Sub

Hunter is available according to the injury report. I haven’t been following his injury- is he in the frame or will he need a Casey run? He is better than both Billings and Woey 2.0 if he’s fit.

If not, it’s just May for Hore for me. Woey sub.

Not sure if he is better than Billings, slightly different type of player. I LIKE what Billings brings to our team, is an excellent ball distributer!

How a fractured thumb keeps a player out for 3-4 weeks but breaking three ribs and a vertebrae is 1 week I'll never know.

Shows the importance of the thumb in handling the ball I suppose.

And how Oliver can play with a finger dislocation is also interesting.
I think when you’re Oliver or May or Trac you are deemed fit to play even when you’re underdone because even if you’re in pain and not going at 100%, you are still better than most alternatives.
I would say that only if an injury can get worse by pushing through pain, that these key players are basically just playing through adversity and a lot of pain killers each week.
Also some players clearly have a higher tolerance than others. May played with a 6cm hamstring tear in a grand final. As if a few broken ribs would keep him out.

Size of the fracture has little to do with the pain, and for instance a Bennetts fracture leaves the joint so unstable you can't tie a shoe lace. Anything near the CMC joint is a show stopper. (Had a few, was in so much pain my jumper caught fire  in front of a heater and didn't notice until I smelt it - no not high)

Also, just quietly reading Adelaide board, this match could be the end of Gather Round, if we do the expected and don't mess the bed.

Not that comfortable risking May,  and with Hore out we need 2 to cover down back

Tommo in, Petty swingmang gives us 3.5 tall defenders

JvR / BBB tall forward options supported by Petty gives 2.5 Fwd plus Fritta as 3rd

Chandler in doubt, but less concerned as Billings / Woey / Spargo / Laurie could offer some cover

Out: Hore / Chandler

In: Tommo / Woey

Sub - Spargo

Pain is absolutely fascinating... particularly in the context of sport and performance and the reasons why at times you feel pain when there is NO tissue damage and while you feel no (or minimal) when there is significant tissue damage. Context and meaning (as interpreted by the brain) means everything...

One way to think about it, is that it is all about DIMSIMS - :) ie: what the brain interprets as Danger(ous) or Safe

I love to think about how violinists feel more pain in the finger from a paper cut than a footballer... because of what it means for their capacity to play, and their career...

Here's a great video to get your head around how much the brain influences the experience of pain...

I really hope Hunter is a last resort selection this year. I would play Billings in front of him and definitely the younger players like Taj, Bill and AMW.

Yeah, I think it's something that has to be worked on. I would expect the club has someone to assist with this. He is a lovely kick for goal and the Dees want him having as many shots at goal as possible.

So Hore is out and we assume Chandler is a likely out, a preventative rest for BBB makes sense and that there's a few banged up boys it's really a question of how many fresh ins do we need?

I think there's a pretty good case for May and probably 2 fresh runners in Laurie and Woey in to the 22 with a rest back to sub for Billings.

Out: Hore, Chandler, ?BBB
In: May, Laurie, ???

FB: McVee May McDonald
HB: Salem Lever Rivers
C; Langdon Petracca Windsor
HF: Pickett Petty ANB
FF: ???? JVR Fritsch
Foll: Gawn Oliver Viney
Int: Howes Woey Sparrow Laurie
S: Billings

Is it Kolt time?

I would love kolt or AMW to play Thursday but seems like AMW didn’t join the trip

Andy Moniz-Wakefield will make his debut this year if he continues to play well like he did last Saturday. His game against a strong Footscray was very good playing in the backline. I'm intrigued to know whether he has made a permanent positional change (Backline). Woewodin or Tholstrup will replace Chandler if he isn't fit to play. Anyway we are playing Adelaide at the right time with long injury list and down on form. We have an excellent playing record at the Adelaide Oval.

I'm interviewing Melbourne Football Club's small forward Kade Chandler tomorrow for the Demonland Podcast. TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.
