Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

POSTGAME: Rd 03 vs Port Adelaide

Such a great win for the team, club and us supporters. In hostile territory away from home against a good team, no May and definitely not favoured to win. Our game plan just stands up under enormous pressure, credit to Goody and the coaching staff and off course the lads for executing that plan. Stats mean diddly squat with that commitment and execution to a game plan that works. Even tho JVR didn’t have a great game he still made his impact felt for the team and ferals, I thought he was great relieving gawny. And how good was bbb and fritta sticking it up em? The boys certainly amped up the grand ol flag in celebration too. And too the dee army, although small ova there understandably, I could hear ya’s on the box plenty of times, well done💙❤️. Congrats JV your a legendary warrior for our mob.

My favourite way to watch the replay is to watch Ben Brown’s reaction to every goal we kick. He’s set up his own one man cheer squad in the goal square. Hilarious.

The ‘steal’ debate is an interesting one. I get the statistical argument but on the eye test it just felt like a classic game of momentum swings. We arrested theirs when we needed to and took full advantage of ours when we had them.

Not to mention coming home with a wet sail which should be praised in any sport.

As Max himself noted we are often on the other end of those types of battles so a refreshing change and a damn good win.

More steel than steal.

Big few weeks coming up.

Short turnaround, Adelaide in Adelaide, they're desperate for a win.

Brisbane back at the MCG, bit of spice in our recent history against them, another team desperate to get their season on track.

Dare to dream of being 5-1 at our bye? Then two games at the MCG against big teams with fading talent in Richmond and Geelong... sets up for a mammoth clash against Carlton.

Getting ahead of myself but I'd like to feel positive for once!

The entire team came to run along the boundary high-fiving after the match. Ricky Lever though! He went rogue, ran ahead of the others, let loose with a guttural scream that lasted for ages, excitedly waving his arms, absolutely whipping us into a frenzy. It was nuts!!!

Just curious: and mind you, I’ve not yet had a coffee, I slept only a couple of hours in a noisy hostel therefore I’m cranky af, but why would somebody react to this post with a vomit emoji????! No harm done, like I said, just curious.

Gee Petty loves to be a pest. Would be annoying to play on. Was at Alir all night.

I’ve noticed this in both his games this season. Seems to be playing with a bit more mongrel in him. Quick to defend other players and seems to genuinely enjoy getting in the face of the opposition.

Gee I hope he signs another contract with us.

Now you might say the bounday ump's view may have been obscured at the critical moment, but I recall a field ump was just a few metres away on the boundary on the other side facing the ball.  I can understand umps making mistakes in difficult situations, but amazed they can't get the simple things right. For example, in the Casey match a player kicked a goal after the siren after going 2m off his line.

Charlie Dixon went off his line with his set shot after the siren as well.

There would be few umpires who have the guts to call out a player running off his line kicking after the siren. Consciously placing themselves to be heavily scrutinised and swamped with vituperation. Has it ever happened before?

To be fair, I think they've also relaxed the rule to allow some 'natural arc' rubbish that pretty much means you can run off your line the same as if you are playing on and make it almost impossible to umpire as well.

to Brereton. He really is a wordy pompous fool. Went on about Port and their players all night and directly after the game immediately raised the point of the projected scores showing that Port should have won. Trying to claim the English cricket team's mantle of cheer leader for 'moral victories'.

It's a great post but in some respects, He's right.

Statistically we should not have won.

But we did through sheer determination, straight kicking at goals and a magnificent backline.

Just like Port shouldn't have won the last game against us.

That's the way it goes.

And what happened when Max wasn't allowed to run off the line and kicked a crunch goal any guesses?

So I'm pretty sure that was you centre screen of the broadcast after the Kozzie goal.

not a bad game btw, much more to say soon.

I just hope i wasn’t crying at the time 😅Fair chance I was though, emotions were running roughshod through the cheer squad for pretty much the entire match. Even folks who aren’t ordinarily as psychotic as, for example, me, ramped it up a notch or 100. There was something different about last night. It’s hard to put into words, except to say it was very, very special.

Dare to dream we'll stay injury free, finish Top2 and then win the flag on the MCG.

I thought it is not the 'natural arc' rubbish, but now you can start off your line, but must be on the line when you kick it. So Dixon's would be hard to judge, especially from the TV.   But the VFL case I mentioned...blatant

Just imagine how different it would be if we'd lost by a goal or two.

Need more data for imagining.

Did we lose cause we tried our best but weren't good enough, or was it because of howling mistakes and poor kicking?
Did we have a huge I50 count, get a sheet call on the goal review or did we get screwed by the home town umpiring?

There are levels of discontent.

Gee DL is an enjoyable read with a coffee this morning 😁

If you want a real enjoyable read, head over to Big Footy and check out the PA comments post game, seems every second post has blamed the umpires for their loss. Oh and Hinkley is not the right person to coach their team

I did love that mark Esava Ratugolea took.  Imagine being a fly on the wall of the Port Adelaide supporters forum about that one!

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
