Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

PREGAME: Rd 02 vs Hawthorn

Recommended Posts

Just watched the Sicily incident. That is their captain, eh?

That is bizaroo numpty level stuff. The squat pose - I don't think I've ever seen someone do that on a football field - to then come up with clear intent to upend his target, and then the obnoxious [censored] kick to someone as they are falling.

The idea that he shouldn't be suspended is just arrogance from Hawthorn. Maybe it is inspired by all the times Mitchell got away with kneeing people? Natural justice would be if Sicily had got his foot trapped under his falling victim and missed 8 weeks with a wrenched ankle.

I hope we break them so badly that they are having visible arguments on field about who was supposed to be covering who, and the whole club loses faith in the rebuild.

Petracca to kick 5.

Can not change that side. They looked balanced and confident.

We now have a luxury of making a player find form and fitness before they come back in. He will get his chance.

Wow.

Yeah I’m really confused what their defense will be?

Even tho no damage was caused, we know that potential to cause injury is a suspendable offense, and if flipping an opponent over and kicking them (when the ball isn’t even in play!) isn’t potentially risky, I’m Batman.

No change for me please.

Sparrow didn't fire but did anyone else shine enough at Casey to replace him?

He's a big body that is hard to match up on.

To my knowledge Sparrow had no midfield time (indicated by no CBAs). He played a high half forward pressure role and had the second highest pressure acts on ground for us with 24. I have a feeling he will be given high marks for playing the team role.

HF H.Petty J.Van Rooyen K.Pickett
FF B.Fritsch B.Brown K.Chandler
Fol M.Gawn J.Viney C.Oliver
IC J.Billings A.Neal-Bullen C.Salem M.Hore K.Tholstrup

So drop a mid for a key tall, we would be far to top heavy with those changes

I am amazed.  BB kicked two goals, took a number of marks up the ground, will take the main defender next week, ran all over the place. Clearly fit enough.
our man Petty first game back in a practice match, only on for 3 quarters and had little impact.   Not sure the FD will agree

i do agree JvR and either Petty Brown or TMac need to be settled as our talls

it would be good if Smith came back as well as Oliver has, but that race has been run I think.

Petty/JVR/Fritsch/Pickett (changing with ANB in midfield)/McAdam/Chandler is probably our best forward 6 IMO

I would wait until the Adelaide game to unleash Petty personally, but i can understand the rational behind Harry playing this week if no VFL game is scheduled.

BBB should not and will not play 2 games in 5 days, Port R4 Saturday night, then the Crows Thursday night R5.

Rest BBB for the Gather round game against the Crows and think about Fullerton coming in against the Crows to help out Max because he will be struggling to back up and perform at a high level after a 5 day break.

This might actually be in the brains trusts thinking leaving BBB out this week and playing him against Port.

Goody did say he was going to play Harry against the Hawks he may then rest him for the Port game and recall BBB.

This might have been a scenario they have been contemplating in their squad management planning during pre season.

But the biomechanics expert will testify that he had no other options and kicking is a football act... 🤔

If they argue that kicking is a football act, then it should have been a 50m penalty at least given the ball wasn't in play.

I suspect low impact instead of medium impact will be their argument here.  Low would get a fine.

We will have to agree to differ then.
Petty cannot have gained one ounce of confidence and would be going into an important game (yes, they are all important) bewildered.  Let’s hope he has a good game next weekend at VFL (unless of course there is another bloody bye) and gets right to take to Adelaide which he can look around and see why he doesn’t want to live there.

Round 1 of the vfl season proper on Sunday and with some luck we can play the sub and carry over emergency (likely Woey and Tholstrup) both at Casey.

Which means along with Laurie with K Brown and AMW/Sestan rotating they’ll have a good supply of mids so even up against a strong Box Hill team (they’re always strong) Petty will have a chance to get on the end of a few.

I don't.

Not only did he upend a guy, which we know can be dangerous, but when the guy hit the ground, he actually kicked him, not heavily, but nevertheless a kick. That is a big no no.

That is not getting off. 1 week is pretty good I would have thought.

PS: Just re watched it several times. It's not a tap, its a kick and he deserves 1 week for that at least.

but it’s the AFL system so applying logic doesn’t work. It’s a kick but it’s graded by severity. Anyone can argue the kick was not high impact, and they would win the argument

Wow.

the suspension is just for the kick i believe. The upending part must have been deemed legal? or just worthy of a free kick

id be surprised if they can’t overturn the decision and grade the kick low impact

Leaving injuries aside when you win by 7 goals why change?

Well there may be a reason, yesterday was a very hot day and with one day less the Hawks who played in the cool we may need some fresh legs. Then we have two games in Adelaide, the second game is only a 5 day break.

Are we predominantly of the "No/Little changes" opinion because the Hawks are also a bottom 6 side like the dogs?

Dogs are a 6-10 side. Hawks are a 10-14 side.

If we are any good needs to be a regulation win in what is looking like a pleasant day

Personally I don't believe that. On the small sample size of the weekends form: Freo and GCS have probably gone past the Dogs and their lacklustre defence of our ball movement in the middle and forward line. Essendon and the Dogs are about the only teams that are 1 step up from the North/WCE/Hawk level. Bevo will be gone by years end.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
