Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Maynard bunches up after the smoother. He just needed to put his hands out and push into a Brayshaw and both would have been fine. You can see he has the time, because Mitchell runs by in the same footage at speed and puts his hands up as the contact happens.

Wow that is damning. Why is maynard “protecting himself” here? The only person that was ever going to get hurt here was Gus.

Looks a lot like the old 'make him earn it' tactic I thought we'd left in the past.

Besides Viney I didn't see enough Demons players have a crack at Maynard afterwards.

The dog act Maynard did could of killed Bradshaw. Especially due to his history of concussions.

He should of been ironed out. Back in the 1980s or 1990s we would of gotten pay back and knocked him out. Thuggery needs to be responded with thuggery. To not do so makes us look weak.

Anyway, as you can tell, I am still extremely angry!!!! I will be BOOING the scumbag Maynard for the rest of his football career! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

Have no problem with Maynard jumping to smother the kick, but to clearly turn and drop the shoulder into Brayshaw's head with eyes on the player is a dog act.

He'll get offered 3, but Gil will drop it to 1 on appeal so he can play in the GF. Appease the big clubs. Nothing is surer, it's the AFL way

Anyone have footage of May and Maynard after the siren? May was certainly animated.

Especially given Maynard came out in the press mid week saying how hard they were going to play. He was odds on going to make a big hit statement early in the game

Hard, you go in throw him to the ground, umpires reverse the kick.  You have to wait, kick the goal then like viney did go at him.

'Nothing else he could have done' is rubbish. He had the momentum. He could have turned/spun away instead of toward. He was making a statement.

And, yes, you can turn mid-air.

Ask anyone trying to defend how Maynard positioned his body to make contact if Maynard would have done exactly the same thing if it had been Nick Daicos there in an intraclub game instead of Angus Brayshaw in a final.

Maynard's action was a football act. A 1970's football act. An era when I played. I would do similar actions when I played with the sole purpose of hurting my opponent. 'Make them earn it' was the motto of the era.

It's a shame I carry to this day.

In hindsight, I wish I had been suspended more often to deter what I realised after my playing was in fact, cowardly and dangerous.  I still have moments where I fear there is someone out there living with the consequences of my actions.

It is 2023. We are far more enlightened.  Maynard HAS to get weeks. Several of them.

I think even Cox tried to.twist Petraccas ankle during a play where we has laying on the turf and for whatever reason hold Trac's leg and then put his weight on it. Luckily Trac was fine.

Got Oliver in the head with his shoulder in the last qtr as well.  Not to mention his flying knees and legs when contesting centre bounces

I've been caught in the air plenty of times in sport. If you're going to land on someone and there's a risk of injury, you 'catch' them with your hands as you come into contact to reduce the impact. It's not hard.

Was a footy act until he turned his body when the ball went passed. Then it became careless, high and severe.

Unfortunately, I've had to endure an entire morning of listening to Collingwood supporters aggressively going on and on about how there was NOTHING Maynard could have done to avoid what happened. One even claimed it's not his fault that Brayshaw has concussion history and if it was anyone else they would have just gotten up and played on. Claims that Maynard is the victim here. Hope I get through the day without going Walter Subcek at work.

Correct he actually projected this.

An intentional act which he was looking to inact prior to the match and carried it out on game day.

Needs to get 3 to 4 minimum

It's a very public test case of all the AFL's sanctimonious rhetoric over the past year or so. And the concussion issue isn't going away.  But like a politician, Gil and his accountants will be in comfortable retirement by the time the final verdict on this is handed down.

I think the AFL will orchestrate the following.

Maynard gets 2 weeks (maybe 1or 3). That way the AFL can be seen to be protecting the players from concussion and litigation down the track.

The verdict gets appealed. Maynard plays in the prelim.

It was the first 5 minutes of a final. In the air Maynard realised the opportunity to drop the shoulder and he took it. Anyone who thinks he had "no choice" doesn't understand football.

I am confident the MRO gives him at least 3, otherwise AFL is duty bound to appeal.

I like many, cannot stand the pandering to the loudest voice in the media. Just imagine Maynard was Viney and Brayshaw was Pendlebury. Would Collingwood supporters be ringing the radio saying Viney had "no choice"?

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.
