Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I think even Cox tried to.twist Petraccas ankle during a play where we has laying on the turf and for whatever reason hold Trac's leg and then put his weight on it. Luckily Trac was fine.

Got Oliver in the head with his shoulder in the last qtr as well.  Not to mention his flying knees and legs when contesting centre bounces

6 months ago I was leading into an end zone against a younger opponent (side by side/same direction) going at maximum speed, competing for a high disc, had launched to catch, with feet off ground (maybe 50-60cm off) when another team mate (small/brave & new) ran straight in front of me with <2-3m space. I was still able to tuck up so I didn't collect them in the head and get my arm out of way so I took the impact on the chest. Maynard had choices, his head was turned tracking where Gus was, and lined him up, don't tell me this incredibly fit athlete, whose reactions I couldn't have touched even 20 years ago didn't have time.

That aside anyone notice Cox's dog act, trying to twist Trac's leg in the 4th, really needs to be called out was deliberate.

Dirty dirty player. He will cop a fine for that - should be more.

I hope we send in a harsh medical report with a long history of Gus’ concussion injuries, which are very clear to everyone.  That helmet is not a fashion statement.

I hope Gus will be ok. He was previously one head knock away from retirement.

No way is Goodwin letting the club write anything but the most damning of reports. He was visibly annoyed, and he works hard not to be.

He rolled his body to create maximum impact with gus. But they will argue to protect himself.

Usually when i fall, i protect with my hands out in front to cushion fall.

Intent was to drive maximum force through where ever he landed.

Will get off. Maybe some lawyers will get paid. Afl is soft

Feel for gus and his family.  Can't imagine how angrier i would be if that was my kid laid out.

Head high.

High impact.

Thats 2 weeks.

Intentional or accidental is all that’s up for debate, so he gets 2-4 weeks. 2 weeks is the minimum possible outcome.

Fantastic he will miss a flag!

They are not winning the flag. we’ll beat ‘em and Gus will be back by then.

Hilarious how the commentariat have created a new legal precedent  of "duty of care to yourself"  concept. Nice misdirection Brian and friends. The duty of care  is what you owe to another ie Brayshaw.  It is not a slogan to bandy around and legitimise unduly rough play to another. Anyway, Maynard was hardly in a passive position where he had to "protect himself". Fortunately for Maynard, he does not now have to consult a lawyer this morning and sue himself.

Pies will argue that he was bracing himself. In the air, split decision in the act of smothering.  Tom Browne the journalist was in his defence straight away

the truth … he turned his body to make contact - chose to bump - in the head - high contact - severe impact - that’s 2 or 3 weeks.

Always been a Micky Mouse league when the most successful clubs took opposition players out off the ball and gained an advantage.

No wonder a player who is being coached by a student of "Lethal Leigh" the most renowned thug of all time, would take out one of our mids in a crucial game.

Hate the sport sometimes tbh, outside supporting our Dees.

Quite honestly anyone who thinks that Maynard didn’t see Gus running wide open and unable to protect himself and didn’t think “I’m gonna nail him here”, is delusional.

Maynard has always been a dirty thug masquerading as a bog ordinary footballer.

Did he think I’m gonna try and impact the kick? For sure. I have no doubt he did. Did he also think he can nail him at the same time? Absolutely. Did he try to knock him out? Probably not. Did he try to inflict pain? Yes he did.

A player has never tried smothering a kick with the point of their shoulder. Never in the history of the AFL has a player gone from running with arms out to try and defend a kick to turning midway in the air with an arm tucked in “accidentally”.  It’s not a natural movement or reaction of someone who thinks to himself “oh gees this has gone a bit wrong I better try to limit the damage here”

The reality is that Maynard knew exactly what he was trying to achieve. It was a ridiculous attempt at a smother.

I was very strong on Kosi getting suspended for a very similar action. It was poor and dangerous. Smith didn’t even get a graze tho. Gus was knocked out and is facing yet another career threatening concussion.
If Maynard isn’t suspended then I’ll just about be done with this game. You cannot keep protecting your [censored] agenda.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
