Good morning, everyone!

It’s a great day for magpie hunting!!

Jeepers -speaking of magpie attacks - lunchtime ride Wednesday in the Northern Rivers and was a subjected to one of the most aggressive and persistent Stukka bomber-like attacks in ages and ages. I felt my safety was deeply imperilled. Fortunately no angry Springtime frowny browny Eastern Brown encounters yet.

First Qualifying Final – 1st v 4th

This year’s matchup: Collingwood (1) v Melbourne (4)

Last decade record for top qualifier: 8-2

Last time first won: 2022 – Geelong (1) def Collingwood (4)

Last time fourth won: 2019 – Geelong (1) def by Collingwood (4)

There’s no surprise this matchup is lopsided given the gap between first and fourth on the ladder.

What gives Melbourne hope is that the two teams that have upset the minor premiers from fourth in the last decade both came from the same state. Collingwood defeated Geelong at the MCG from fourth in 2019 and GWS defeated Sydney at ANZ Stadium from fourth in 2016.

No interstate team has won from fourth across the last decade. The last team to do that was Sydney against West Coast in 2006. From 2007, first holds a 14-2 record in this game.

The top ticket option for the concert — the “Bro Package” — is priced at $999, plus service fees. It includes a spot on the stage to watch the show, a photo op with NOFX — and all the irony you are able to consume.

We’ve been running out games superbly but a 90k crowd worries me in the final quarter.

Hope we stay within 10 points for the first three quarters.

With his injury and return to the side, I think Clarry is cherry ripe for a 35+ disposal masterclass. Just hope him and Trac don’t try to do too much early

Huge game, can’t wait

For this match, Viney, Clarrie and Tracca need to stay vitally invasive and interruptive with the Collingwood attempts to dominate, yet not to over-expend their energies in so doing. They should rely on support at all times; the teammates are there to assist - and to test black & white fitness, endurance and recoveries, particularly in the first half of the game when hopefully the Dees have kept in touch on the scoreboard. After the long break, it is time to go berserk with our game with all Dees' players exerting full pressure and our winning second-half power game. Clarrie, Viney and Tracca can then step on the gas to see us through - by 25-30 points, I'd reckon.

This feels too real now. I barely slept at all last night.

Here's some great pump-up material I found on YouTube at 2:30 this morning.

The Viney and Melksham goals against the Lions were massive.

Wearing my MFC scarf on the train on my commute to work this morning and getting alot of "Go Dees" comments from passers by.

The sleeping giant has awoken!

Since 2021, we are everywhere down here in Melbourne, proud and brimming with a quiet confidence that hasn't been prevalent in most of my time following the mighty Demons 💙💙💙💙

...that and everyone else is jumping on us, because they hate Collingwood! 🤣

I was super happy and optimistic about our form at the end of the Home and away season. New season now and Pies have had the opportunity to reset and plan for what we brought to KB.

Massive game for us and the outcome is massive for the winners. My feelings are very much like the EF of 2018 vs Geelong, just not sure what to expect.

Impossible task for this evening, bouncedown is 5.20pm WST and will be on training track/team meetings till 7.30pm.  Plan is to not hear anything and go home and watch but 3 issues

1. Someone always says see ???? is up by ??? points

2. Natural curiosity coupled with the anxiety of wanting to know how the boys are going

3. Having to pick my Pies supporting son up on the way home and whilst he knows I don’t want to know the score, his demeanour will tell me

Just hoping for a win

Go Dees, Raise Hell

They might be able to quell one of that magnificent trio to an extent, but another Jack-in-the-box like Guss, Rivers, Sparrow or Kossie is likely to be injected into the midfield to cause some chaos.

In particular, I think Tommy Sparrow is another of those 'built for finals' types we have.

With Tommy Mac back in the team and Hibberd down back to play the third tall(ish) defender role, I also think the conditions are primed for Joel Smith to play that defensive forward role that Melksham was playing.  He's a great contested mark and I think it would absolutely suit him to have his opponent take him to the ball.  Once it hits the ground, he's got some of the best jets in the game and a great defensive mindset and tackling technique  to stop the fast rebound.

I’m a unique blend of confident and nervous.

I have confidence in our system, our form and our preparation.

But I am extremely nervous because, as good as we are, Collingwood are good too and are better than many here give them credit for. And so much rides on this game - a home prelim against St Kilda or an interstate side, or a semi against Carl/Syd just for the right to get on a plane for an interstate prelim.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
