Flag favourites?

Best defence in the league?

All Australian ruckman?

Essendon shouldn't score 64 for the whole game, let alone in a half.

Maybe we just aren't as good as what we think we are. And don't blame Lever being out.

If we all didn't know it already, Rick is clearly crucial to having an organised back 6.

Agree but this is our biggest issue imo just like when Max went down. Good teams find a way to win with injuries, one soldier out one soldier in.

Grundy needs to lift as well, has looked second rate defensively against two ruckmen who have kicked half of their goals.

Absolutely disagree with that assessment…but agree that we are being thrashed aerially ..in fact ..everywhere…

He isn’t underdone. He’s trained this morning. We didn’t play him because we expected rain.

Goody said he woke up with back soreness.

Where's TMac and Melksham?

Melksham has 2 goals, could have easily been 3.

Tmac has 2 touches, 0 marks, 0 tackles.

Macca and Petty both a massive fail that half.

Mate Lever and Max out, that's a big loss. We would be intercepting most of Essendon entries if said 2 players were on the ground.

His disposal has been haphazard but he's been getting the pill. Our backline is lost and we have no tall to take a mark inside 50. Jvrs 3rd game and you can't blame him. Huge error not playing Bbb.

Had to give a reason for the late change. We all know it was a weather move.
TMac is cactus. He cannot compete. Gives you nothing.

Petty has been under par most of the season

Our big men need to play like big men.  Grundy is great below his knees but not giving us enough defensively in the air; same goes for the other talls forward and back.  Credit to Essendon, they have a strong plan and they are executing it well.

Yes, disposals all over the place. Sometimes he should run and carry the ball, he doesn't.

Had a feeling we’d be physically and mentally flat with back to back road trips.

Credit to Essendon unfortunately.

It’s round 5. Inexcusable.

Right call not to play another tall, we’re already getting chopped up by Essendon runners, but it should’ve been Brown in, if healthy, and T Mc out.

We’ve been seduced by Tommy’s flat track goals against the eagles reserves

Stop blaming the backline, if the damm pill is coming in with ease the flood gates will open, no forward line, midfield just not pushing hard enough, stop with hand balling to someone running on the inside when there is no one to go in the next passage of play.  As for the Spargo, umpire was correct, he is know for ducking the head, stop with Kossie in the middle get him just in the forward line.

Absolutely agree, would have thought steven would have stepped up in Jake's absence, to be fair to the backline the ball is coming in pretty hot from the centre too which always makes it harder.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
