Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Unlike the other top teams we don't have any genuine class outside mids like the Daicos or McLuggage who are two of the most effective kicks inside 50 as well as hitting the scoreboard. Both are genuine outside mids. I suppose Gus and Trac would be our two but both are very inconsistent with their kicking.

Tracc, Clarry and Max were our three worst in terms of kicks inside 50 to score ratio.

Not sure where Gus ranked but i doubt he set the work on fire in that area.

Our best?

Liam Henry to the saints …. We are so proactive in reinvigorating the list with thus far a ruckman who couldn’t get a game at the lions…. What’s their strategy … Cleary front half issues yet virtually zero trades ….

I have to agree. Two premiership players and an AA out the door. Another premiership player retirees, and so far we have a young ruckman that Lion’s fans couldn’t wait to see the back of. Supposedly this was going to be a massive trade period for us. Even if we land McAdam, the list has not improved one bit and the Casey stocks are almost bare

Issue we have Petty & Melksham both injured & the latter want be back until late in the season, Tmac & BB it’s gone passed them & if they can get on the ground, so what’s left Shache… that’s right he was better than Grundy …. either we’re just not a destination clubs or our recruiting & coaches are asleep at the wheel

We have not been a destination club for good forwards since BBB came across (surely no one would deny he was not important to our flag season?). But we have been a destination club for backs, rucks and wings over the last 5 years or so: May, Lever, Langdon and Grundy

Did anyone from the club state this, or is it a media and Demonland myth?

That we have been moving up the draft board indicates we plan to focus our resources on draft night

For those still believing its solely on our forward line the issues. The glaringly obvious stats as evidence it was mostly our disposals inside were that we were no.1 for inside 50's (great!). However we ranked 17th for both disposal and kicking efficiency. That was for the season. As for the last five games of the season guess who was dead last in both categories..... 👿

Alternate words/thinking. We have cleared 3 players not in our best 23 who require salaries commensurate with players in your best 23.

Who has been traded thus far to a club who you think we should have taken for the cost?

Matt Flynn is the only one I can think of and if I was Matt Flynn I would choose being clear first ruck now at West Coast over being back up for Gawn for at least the next 2 years (which he would then be 10 years in the system).

You can only trade for whats available then need to have them agree based on something you think is fair and reasonable and then in some instances get their club to agree to clear the way.

Where’s all the money going from the freed up cap space?

Neither you nor I know the answer to this. Maybe there is no huge cap space

Perhaps the recent long term re-signings are back loaded to 2024 and beyond. Perhaps we have another re-signing to do over summer that involves more money (eg JVR, Petty, Bowey?). Perhaps Harmes was not on that much for 2024.

It's all guess work and assumptions from us, KITP!

What was also said is that Taylor believes that the difference in quality between 14 and 11 was quite significant, which is indicated by the price paid to move those picks.

IOW, there's someone we want who'll be there at 11 but not at 14.

Being a premiership player doesn't make you a star or give you protected species status.

Plenty of ordinary players have played in premiership teams.  Exhibit A:  Billy Frampton.

Correct this was by far the biggest issue and converting the chances when they presented.

I think our forward line is more than capable, just need to work on creating space/separation give our mids easier targets, maybe upgrading our forwards coach is the way to go?

I don't think it's 'someone', but rather that there are a range of players. Taylor has said that he thinks of the draft in tiers/groups of talented players that he'd be happy to select from. He clearly sees this the cutoff of a talent tier as being between picks 11 and 14, and he'd rather get a chance to select one of the good players rather than one of the other players.

I agree wholeheartedly mate, the she’ll be right attitude of posters above or go again with what we have and “hope” for improvement is a head scratcher.

The thing is BD we don’t have our hands on the controls and what is the benefit of constant handwringing and constant criticism of our recruitment team and club.

That maybe true but when we did have the opportunity in front of the big sticks we were mostly putrid. That’s where a good goal kicking forward comes into play.

It’s prob a more combined issue that I bloody hope gets addressed this off-season.

More frustration than anything .. overall recruiting has been great yielding us premiership defence & late pics turned into gems…BB lasted 1/2 a season before succumbing to knee issues….our last recognised gun forward was Neitz who retired in 08 .. Hogan could have been the one but… not sure why we can’t find them

Disposals inside 50 are [censored] due to forward structure, leading patterns and the forwards not moving anywhere near enough to create space.

I used to think the same as you until I went to a few live games and saw the whole field. Living in Brisbane it’s not always easy.

Saints offered Paddy Dow a 3 year contract, but won't give Carlton pick 56 for him.

Wow!

Oh, I just remembered, SOS is the Saint's list manager and we know his feelings about Carlton.

More importantly, he likely knows Carlton’s true feeling towards Dow, i.e. how many are ahead of him in line for his role, and if no other club wants him in a trade this year, they’ll happily delist him.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
