GAMEDAY: Rd 22 vs Carlton

Whispering_Jack

Recommended Posts

Carlton fans are boasting that their team will make a statement tonight by upsetting the reigning premiers to cement their return to finals football.

That’s right folks. According to them, we’re chopped liver!

Time to prove that the Demons are still premiership contenders!

We usually get up for big games. Think the games against Brisbane after the bye and after the dogs game against Freo.

We play well when we’re under pressure. But from now on it needs to be fullthrottle every game.

Low 50’s IMO

The blues usually get home crowds in the 40-50s even against interstate so it seems low especially when you consider the importance of the game for both teams.

One should expect a decent crowd but who knows

It has to start now.

👉🏽Do not entertain a shoot out
                                                                     👉🏽Match Viney’s intensity

👉🏽Shut down Curnow and McKay

👉🏽 Kick straight / give off to someone in better position

👉🏽Tackles / defensive pressure inside our 50

If we can do this, we’ll win by 8 goals.

Go Dees🔴🔵

Last week and Dogs games were pretty big:

Not really, the dogs game was after a win against port and the pies after a really good game against freo, hardly backs to the wall like the other two.

I’m saying in games where we absolutely needed the wins, we got the job done.

If we aspire the Holy Grail in 2022, we should easily account for Carlton tonight, and I think we will.  A margin of 7 or 8 goals will give us a handy percentage boost, so just get it done Dees.

Can't remember which season it was, but about 7 so years ago, Carlton won only 4 games for the season. 2 of their wins were against Melbourne, who weren't far off making the finals.

MFCSS has set in, particularly in view of the fiasco regarding Cripps which Carlton will see as a victory.

Demons were short priced favourites v filth (first time round), Freo (first time round),, Swans, . None of these matches ended well.

2016 and not to mention 2 losses against them in 2006 , which cost us top 4

Different team they're coming up against now though... If Melb are serious about making it to the end we are winning this. Last two weeks are proof of that, have played pretty good footy

I remember 2006 where they were absolute pox. They only won like 3 games? Two of those win came against us and pretty much cost us a top 4 chance.

Had we even won one of those games we would have gotten the double chance.

In 2021 we stepped up sure, but this year we’ve folded at the sight of pressure and lost 6 games against top 8 sides. I’d consider games against our main competition as big games, like the two against the Pies in front of huge crowds at the MCG as a prime example.

I’m still hopeful we can get going and hit out straps again in finals, but evidence says 2022 demons don’t handle pressure well.

    CONSISTENCY by The Oracle

"I think we have got a team that can win a premiership, and if we get in this year, I don't think there is a team that is going to want to play us. This year is not a write-off, I don't concede that. Not at all." — Collingwood President Jeff Browne. I love this sort of optimism from the Magpie President after his club’s eleven goal defeat at the hands of the fast rising Hawks. It’s consistent with the fighting spirit of the club that won last year’s flag.  I only wish I could say the s

    FEARS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne’s worst fears about the absence of Max Gawn were realised when it received a shellacking from Fremantle’s ruckmen Sean Darcy and Luke Jackson who dominated the hit out tally in their game at Optus Stadium on Sunday by a massive 47 to 19. As a result, the 50-point deficit at the end of the game proved to be a loss that was long foreseen that was two years in the making and demonstrated a complete lack of hindsight and planning from the club. To add insult to injury, Jackson was a D

    RAIN CHECK by Whispering Jack

The Frankston Dolphins broke a run of six straight losses against their neighbours, the Casey Demons and kept their hopes for a long-awaited return to the VFL finals alive with a 27 point victory over at Kinetic Stadium. Casey was welcomed to the Peninsula by grey skies, heavy rain and angry seas with threatening white-capped waves whipped up by gale force winds. After a slow start in the opening term when they failed to take advantage of the breeze, it appeared that the Demons had decided
