Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Hopeless? Really? Was it hopeless 7 days ago? A better choice of word may have been “unusual”

It's been hopeless all season. hopeless against Gold Coast, Essendon, Hawthorn, Port and now WCE.  That's the majority of games. Against Port we should've won by 100, instead we lost the 2nd half. somehow

Just glad that the Rabbits foot got through the game OK

good on yer Jake

Was anyone else thinking Goodwin would be yelling at the Dr to not review the footage/perform a concussion test.

This is a joke, and maybe not a good joke, but I was please no concussion test.

Anyone else reckon Jake Lever is horribly out of form? He misread the high balls, constantly out bodied, drops marks and his kicking is poor. What’s happened? Seems to be ever since he had the Rona.

He’s injured still. Right foot, probably plantar fascia related. Working through it, but does a month off help him? Got to trust Selwyn.

He’s had a terrible run at it. Needs more games, plus a lot of teams making him accountable now whereas previously he’d take the 3rd man.

True and if, as another poster said, he is injured, surely he needs a spell. I found him to be a complete liability tonight. If we’d played a decent team, he’d have really cost us.

I haven't read the game day thread, but apparently people aren't happy. Bizarre.

It wasn't flawless and I generally agreed with much of what Jordan Lewis said in terms of forward entries and blazing away at goal when we should have lowered the eyes, but FMD, we played some brilliant football at times.

Was it one of Fritsch's or TMac's goals in the last where we chained off half back by hand under real pressure? It was champagne football. As good as that TMac team goal against Brisbane last year in Sydney.

Our offence usually comes from our defence, so as a side we tend to strangle sides rather than blow them off the park, but if a side manages to stay with us over 4 quarters, we can win games in 5-10 minutes of burst football.

I reckon as supporters we should be happy that we won by 12 goals and could still play much better, and Harmes aside, have a list that can get out on the park every week.

Yeah it felt a lot to me like we were a lion that had bitten the leg off a gazelle in the first, then spent 2.5 qtrs circling and blithely swatting at it, before going for the kill in the last.

He doesn’t look fit, I’m assuming his foot is still giving him grief.

i might be alone here, but thought lever's reading of the ball and marking - particularly early on when kelly was winning a heap of ball and bombing it forward - was excellent

what he's not doing at the moment is going back quickly off his mark and moving the ball with speed and accuracy to the wings

our backline looks so good with the three talls of may, lever, and petty in place

Trac just has to work on his set shot kicking. If he is going to be talked about in the same league as Dusty then he has to do better - it is one weakness. My son plays jnr footy with Lloyds kid am I’m tempted to ask him to reach out 😂. I feel like he needs more momentum in his run but what would I know.

I did like the intensity of the game though, I think it’s important to keep this up against the Roos as well otherwise we’d be in for a stark surprise against the Dockers and Swans.

Wish he'd  hold ball steady instead of spinning it.

Very happy with the win. Was always going to be a bit of a slog - with the conditions seeming to have a significant affect - all the slipping and fumbling bringing the two sides closer together in quality.

Glad we blew them away again in the last and hope Bowey has a few panadol and really hope our Footy Dept are looking after Chandler as he was unlucky to find himself in the position he now finds himself in. Decent tackle with no intended malice (in my view anyway), appeared to be just an aggressive football action - all part of the game - best of luck to him.

If that is anywhere near the truth (and i'm not saying it is or isn't) then surely these two rounds (Eagles & Norf) were the time to give him a few weeks off and get the issue a little more right than wrong!??

It doesn't make sense to play him if his issue is that serious.  I'm sure the fitness crew are all over this and wouldn't be running him into the ground intentionally but he looks like he's running on the spot at the moment.  No doubt the mind is willing but the body would appear to be very unable!

Just for you WCW, “ Picket picked his pocket and poked it thru from the pocket” lol. KU definitely shouldn’t call footy.

Great win. 2 highlights for me, Brayshaws commitment in the last qrtr coming of half back towards centre and Viney bouncing twice along the wing and passing, perfectly, to fritta. Geez the boys are good, every game is a challenge they want to embrace, and I dare say learn from. Go Dee’s💙❤️

These guys would get a rest if a rest would help. Zorko had surgery on his ankle and looked seriously hampered playing HBF earlier in the year and he just said ‘it’s just discomfort and it best if I work through the pain’ and if you saw him against the Crows you wouldn’t think he had pre season surgery.

Anywho, Lever is playing so he can get criticised for form but just heads up, he is boot off at half time and proppy as anything after games.

I was guilty of being a bit antsy but I was getting more annoyed about the broken tackles and the perceived intent of the Eagles being harder at the ball. As always emotions are heightened watching live and probably not nearly as bad as I perceived it to be.

Sure, watching live is a completely different thing, but I found myself very relaxed watching today.

I expected us to win and win well. We did.

I expected us to strangle them and then have a devastating patch and today we had two devastating patches.

So proud of the Melbourne Football Club! 9 wins no losses. 2 years in a row. Top of the ladder. A game clear of anyone. Best percentage. Biggest winning margin against WCE. Happy days. Long may they linger.

Said in the pre game thread that we're at least a 3 goal per qtr better side and any less would be a wasted opportunity

so the result was about par for mine

west coast brought a lot of heat and we handled it well

Some harsh views on what was a total pummelling. I don’t agree that it was ugly, or that we were in a second gear or whatever. There are no teams in the AFL that are bad at the game, just teams that can’t sustain a 4 quarter effort. West Coast had two quarters of solid effort that matched ours and still couldn’t make any inroads. We completely destroyed them in the two quarters where their effort dropped off.

It would have been nice to convert better, but other than that I’m really not sure what else we need to do before people will be happy.

Well said Nasher - I think some people think it should be like playing a video game sometimes. Absolute destructions do occur but there is often reasons for this rather than a team just deciding to put the foot down (as well we know).

This game was killed off by quarter time and we cruised to a 74 point victory in the end despite the Eagles having a real crack for half a game. What else do people want?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
