Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Ugh I just saw McGowan on the news saying they’re having the grand final “on their terms.” Idk if it’s just his usual mannerism but ffs a little sensitivity wouldn’t go astray. You can almost hear the sound of thousands of hearts breaking and he’s carrying on like we should be kissing his ar*e.

FFS the bye could severely disadvantage the QF winners, us and Port.

I guess the AFL are hoping that the Geelong  Geriatrics will get there and would certainly benefit.

No logic and only adds an extra week for one tiny little covid virion to get loose in Perth.

Why is the world are they doing a bye? Surely both teams will be in Perth. That will just make the torture if we qualify go on for an extra week. What if cases begin happening in Perth? They should get it over as soon as possible

My first thoughts too but I guess an extra week hopefully buys us enough time to be able to enjoy the day with family and a BBQ and beers without worrying whether the neighbours are going to dob us in to the cops. If Melbourne are in the GF there's no way I'm sitting on the couch by myself to watch it I'll go mad.

This really hurts.  I expected it, but my god it takes away a lot of the happiness I feel about this season. I know that it's very selfish, and of course I want us to win, even if the game is played on the moon... but all the things you dream about when you dream of your team winning a premiership after 57 years, have been taken away for us loyal supporters who have suffered long and hard to get here.

2021 is a total dumpster fire.

Couldn't agree more Jaded, I'm right there with you.

Anyone that calls you selfish probably attends 4 or 5 games a year, hasn't got a GF guarantee so was going to watch the game on TV regardless and probably wouldn't have bothered rocking up to a game in the Bailey and Neeld era. In other words has no idea what you and other loyal MFC members are going through.

We are being denied what Dogs, Richmond and Geelong supporters got to experience when they broke their long droughts. If that's viewed as selfishness (which I was accused of by a Western Australian based poster) then they are completely out of touch.

or possibly have lived in WA for the last 25 years and had to spend thousands (pre covid) just to get to watch the Dees play 4 or 5 times a year.  Yes even in the Bailey and Neeld eras

Donated thousands during debt demolition (which I really didn't have at the time with 2 kids under 2 and on only 1 income and much to my wife's dismay)to help keep the club they love alive.

So I'm sorry for you and the many others in Victoria and NSW, who will be unable to attend, but don't make assumptions on people who you think are less deserving than you of attending, should the Dees get there.

None of us caused this and whilst you may wish to vent, it's certainly not me or any other WA based Demon denying you this opportunity

Yep, we've dodged a few bullets over here in WA, but whilst I'm sure they have discussed this to the endth degree I really don't understand why they don't just keep going and get the games out of the way while they can.

It's not a matter of if it gets into WA, but when

Beautifully put. There will be lifelong Dees fans there no matter what, should we make it. I'll be happy for them, and I'll still get to see it on TV so I'm at peace with the way things turn out.

Another positive is the hunger to win another one (surely, surely at the G this time) would be massive. No GF hangover I wouldn't have thought.

Anyway I wonder who'll win the Semi?

Just to add confusion frustration

The AFL will not hesitate to push back its season decider into October and force a three-week break upon competing grand final teams if new host city Perth is locked down with a last-minute Covid outbreak.

AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan finally confirmed the league’s biggest game would be held at Perth Stadium on September 25after agreeing to a deal with the Victorian government.

Makes zero sense to most, just get the season done, as we’ve seen Delta and “short and sharp” lock downs don’t seem to work.

The stars are definitely aligning for me.

Currently in Kununurra- will be crossing the Gibb River Road over the next 2 weeks. The Friday night prelim has aligned with a station stay where I will be able to watch.

The week off means I will be in Broome the week before the GF. Easy flight down from there - just need to source tickets x2. Grand final guarantee on the membership should solve that

All set I reckon

I’m very happy for our WA based fans. The issue isn’t that the grand final is being played there. It’s that unlike in other years, we can’t attend even if we want to! We are being robbed a once in a lifetime opportunity. In normal circumstances you could come over to the MCG and watch us play. That’s what really hurts.
But nobody begrudges you or anyone else in WA. I just think people outside of Victoria have absolutely no idea what life has been like for us and how incredibly mentally defeated we are. So please don’t judge.

Do you you know what will hurt more than not being able to go to the g to see tge dees play a GF?

Not making it to one this year.

Ir we di make it, of course it is upsetting not to be able to go. All those hundreds of matches sitting at the top of the ponsford, and miss this one.

But there it is

I'm thrilled for fans like you psd, mcquuen, et, chook in Perth and all the other WA fans. It really is awesome for you all. And great reward for sticking fat with dees in eagle town. In rhe lead up to the prelim you will all be able to fly tge red and blue with pride

I hope you all can get tickets for tge prelim and gf, if we make it (a stress that I won't have to bother with, which is a small mercy)

And leaving aside the disappointment of the gf not being at the g, obtus oval is a great option. It will be a fantastic event.

And us vics will get our chance next year and beyond. And those chances will mean so much more because if missing out this year

We are a seriously good unit, with the perfect list age and talent wise to be a force for the next five years.

Compare us to the Eagles and cats. They are super reliant on blokes 30 and over. Our most senior players cant even get a game.

Go redlegs

It is a shame Geelong lost last week, would have been a good supporter based crowd if Melbourne played Geelong as both clubs have a pretty good supporter base in WA. You might see WCE supporters filling up the stands wearing eagles Blue and Gold booing the umpires every time they blow the whistle.

I reckon if we make it there will be a big Melbourne supporter turn up for the GF.

Yes I really feel for you Jaded and others in lockdown. I haven’t lived with it personally and only really can speak of friends and family I regularly speak with in Victoria and other parts of the world.

The mental health impact is obvious from their conversations, but I imagine the impact is far greater because they put on a brave front, however the unknown and no set date or light at the end of the tunnel would be demoralising to say the least.

Feel bitterly sorry for Ed, not being able to attend the GF (even though he has nothing to do with this year's GF)

Can someone tell me how Damien Barrett, Tom Browne and Hutchy got permission to attend? Do we not have journalists and TV presenters in Perth?

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
