Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I hope all previous posters check in here again in the morning cos I wanted to thumbs up, heart, medal, haha ALL of you, as several glasses of what's good for me have accompanied a very pleasant trawl through these 13 pages.

I've gone for an 11-minute walk at the 10-minutes-to-go mark of previous free-to-airs this year so I am very proud of myself that tonight my eyes stayed glued till the end, including watching Max's kick. It is, come what may now, a moment that can't be taken from me.

Crazy shiiit.  That 2nd quarter was as bad as we've played all year and then to win from nowhere.

I had a demon supporter mate text me when we had let 7 in a row through and say 'I'm not that fazed, it is one part of our game (centre clearance) that needs adjusting'.

His positivity made me want to vomit but he was right - we didn't have issues all over the ground, we were just setting up horribly in the middle. Had they kicked a point or two in that run we may have sorted it out a lot faster but they had their kicking boots on and we're back in the middle in the blink of an eye.

I'm completely spent, I can barely write this at the moment but reading everyone else's comments has been a joy!

If that isn't the best win I've seen from this club it is right up there. We just did not miss a beat in that last quarter and were all over them in contested possessions.

Guys, I'm really stuffed! Might chat with you more tomorrow. Wowee.

They said today in the Hawthorn and Richmond game those two sides had won 8 out of the last 11 flags or something like that but I would never trade my experience with this footy club for anything else. Supporting this club is better than anything.

Love you all, this is what we do it for.

They’ll be busy then, cos there were a lot of them. And a lot of throwing from those cats too.

what an awesome win. a bit of umpiring karma there. Umpire judged that Melbourne deliberately kicked it out of bounds when that was obviously not the intent. if they had thrown it in we may not have won. but thankfully the geelong player shanked it and it went out  and we got 50, beautiful pass to maxy and a goal.

I actually thought the 50m was pretty clear cut, it was out by 2.5m when he fisted it 12 rows back and the umpire had called the out of bounds.

Yep. Absolutely. Similar to the free paid against Melksham last week for kicking it into the stands. It simply becomes 50 because a free kick already existed.

I’ve gone to bed to try to sleep but I’m still buzzing, heart is pounding! I felt we could come back but that the deficit would prove to be too much, when we got it under three goals so quickly I suddenly believed and interestingly the cats went into their shells big time. The usual names tried pulling them out but the rest were cooked. We had them mentally.

Scrolling through this thread and the Demons Twittersphere has been a genuine pleasure. I wondered if I was alone in tearing up (only a few, I'm saving them yet) as max celebrated but from what I've read there were many locked down households shedding a tear tonight. Amazing what sport can do.

Whilst I don't think the result actually mattered that much (could absolutely be wrong), the manner of the comeback, the fact it was Max having botched it before, and the memory of Tuohy in 2018 (still the most painful loss I can recall. I cannot forget it) was an amazing confluence of events that pushed me over the edge.

If we achieve nothing else from here on in, I'm so pleased as Dees fans we were able to have that moment. Despite what the Blues, Bombers, Saints and Tigers (pre '17) fans may claim re. Lack of success, no other supporter base has been through what we have. From the years of beltings to the rays of light being crushed (Jim, Jesse, Jurrah the most notable), to dysfunctional management to all-time worst coaches to bizarre sponsor fiascos, to having no respect in the office, the schoolyard or at the dinner table, it's a miracle we're alive (and now, more than kicking)

In my 30 years I've watched other fans enjoy these moments, enjoy these years of success. It never seemed to eventuate for us but it did tonight and it has this year so far.

Enormously cathartic.

Whilst we don't get to have the 'home QF', the crowd, the fanfare of what (hopefully) is to come, I feel lucky to have enjoyed this season when so many Dees fans no longer with us waited and waited for these days never to come.

Doing this without my dad, brother and sister locked down in various parts around the state, or without the swell of Dees fans we all so enjoyed in 2018, is not the way I pictured it. But I'm going to enjoy being the minor premier and at the pointy end of the finals as much as I can. It may never come around again.

my daughter asking if I’m ok. And my son greasing me off with a WTF look

Today was a hard day for a lot of people all over Victoria. I know it was for me. I had to turn the game off at half time for the sake of my mental health. I’m glad my dad kept watching and urged me to turn it back on in the last quarter.
This has to be one of the best wins I’ve ever witnessed as a Melbourne supporter. The pure joy of doing it over Geelong is just that much better.

I’ve only ever seen one better win by Melbourne than this win tonight. That was the last game in ‘64.

This tops the freo come back game where wonna kicked 4 and we overturned a 50 odd point half time deficit. Amazing atmosphere for 19k crowd.

just sitting here, drinking a furphy, thinking about that time at KP when Gawn rose above the pack, sat on the Geelong players head and took a screamer.

kicking the goal, after the siren, from 50 out

put us on top of the ladder.

I WAS THERE THAT DAY !!!

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
