Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

When I’ve watched him play I always thought he was a pretty good player but in saying that I never watched to many Suns games. Seem too always play good against us but who doesn’t right?

I do believe if he comes at the right price he would be a good pick up.

Right TYPE of player.

Wrong player though. He's got the right attributes, he just doesn't show intensity or competitiveness. He's not very "Melbourne" in that regard.

If there's nothing else of worth available, then he may be the right option at the right price though.

What role would he play though? He isn’t a legitimately dangerous forward prospect and it would be a waste of a spot to select him to ruck for 5 minutes a quarter when he was ineffective as a forward. It’s why Preuss hasn’t been able to break past the fringe.

He'd be tall forward providing ruck backup. Essentially Weidemans role if Weid leaves or doesn't perform. As I said, I don't think he's the right player and would only take him if he cost us bugger all. Ideally, we go get a strong performing tall forward who actually kicks goals. Throw the kitchen sink at a Jeremy Cameron type.

We should always have two tall forward targets. We'll finally have that structure this week for the first time this year and I'd wager we'll perform better as a result.

Replacement for Preuss? Why exactly?

Not much point having all of Preuss, Weid, Petty, Brown and Wright on our list. We're better off paying the price for a genuine 'best 22' key forward.

We do have these talls on the list, plus some. We also have some great 'less than talls' on the list. It would be fun to watch them all in a single round - see how they run.

Until we deliver the ball properly into the forward line (and get it working properly), we could get Tony Lockert , Jason Gunstall, Gordon COventry  & Jack Mueller  AND Neita and we would still not win !!!

Agree @Lord Travis. PW displays very little aggression and intensity.

I'd rather go after a Darcy Fogarty type who likes to throw his weight around, give backman second thoughts about backing into packs.

PW would fit in very well in our current line-up, which is the exact reason why we should not go after him.

If he was worth it he would be playing for the Suns. The Suns have recruited many that have gone past him. I just don't think we have room on our list for this type of player. With the shortened lists I suspect we will have to cut some on our list that offer more than 2 meter Peter.

A few years ago you would have been keen as he showed plenty of promise.

However, he hasn't done much for a while and seemingly just coasts through games.

As LT said, I'd look at him at a bargain basement price, and then only if Weideman shows little this season and we move him on.

Even then, I view Jackson as a far better long term prospect than Wright.

No. No. and No.

We have Maxie and a combination of TMac, Weed and Jacko who can play in the ruck. I think Tomlinson can also pinch hit.

Unless the main ruckman has special qualities (like Maxie) and we are not playing against the top rucks in the league, I reckon we can manage to mitigate any perceived disadvantage by playing these four as a group if Maxie is having a rest.

If Goodwon was not so hidebound he would take advantage of this and rest Maxie in the forward line to create a mismatch.

Too late. We got Preuss.

Peter Wright should have been trade pickup instead of Preuss two years ago.
Should have been Tyson for Wright.  Suns would’ve done deal.  Wright could’ve been key forward option (Gawn in ruck) or be safety measure for Gawn.

And if Tyson didn't want to go to the Gold Coast, in hindsight he may have changed his mind

Wright is not even a choice at Gold Coast  which would inevitably lead,  if we got him now,  to a topic on here 'why do we always trade other clubs rejects'

He reminds me of Josh Jenkins, all height and no action

While Max Gawn is in this prime, there is literally no point trying to attract another established ruck. They will battle it out at Casey for most of the year, getting an odd game here and there if Max is injured.

We have Jackson in the wings, and he should be hitting his prime when Gawn retires. No point spending decent coin on a backup player, and certainly no point getting rid of Preuss only to get a slightly upgraded version that will service the same need.

We need to chase a tall forward in this year's trade period or through free agency. No idea who may be available, and given our rubbish draft position we are unlikely to have any cards to play at the table.

Huge no -

We need an A-star mid/ big fish

Easier said than done but we should really load up to do so - no more top ups until we do

Would help raise Trac, Oliver, Harmes games by landing an out and out star.

I have no idea who that is.

I pray Weed, Bennell and Tmac all click this year so we can avoid going after a key fwd

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
