Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Lockhart is far from a fringe player. He has the potential to be a star player.

Jones is taking up his spot in the team these days.

A star???? ?  We must be talking about a different bloke

We have a stack of half forwards though, bewildering.

Realistically with the shorter game, Max will ruck 95%.

I’ve always liked what I’ve seen from Lockhart, he’s had limited games to under his belt, he’s quick, tough and composed.  Might just be me though.....

I think we will be hoping the connection between up field and forwards is exceptional with pinpoint passes.

Also one area we need to improve in is pressure on is our forward defensive work. The inclusions will help this. It was very obvious how easy it was for Carlton to get the ball out in the last half. Our forward defensive pressure was non existent. That was the main reason we could not stop their momentum. Glad to see Goody has addressed this.

Manic unrelenting forward defensive pressure is one tactic used to maintain momentum or swing lost momentum back. It forces opposition errors.

For me the interesting thing about the inclusions is I feel like they have gone for multiple options in the forward line. There are players we can shift around the ground to give people rests up forward and potentially provide different avenues at goal. This has to be seen as crossroads game for Tommy though, 2 poor outings you can shrug off a little but 3 will start to create serious questions marks and dropping Jones I feel could be a bit of a statement to say that previous service now means nothing. Produce or be dropped.

For me I'm happy with those changes. ANB stiff, but he must have know the selections committee was only going to keep him in if he produced the goods. He gave one good quarter (like many others), that was it.

A lot of underdone players going in. Bennell, Vanders and Hannan do not leave me with great confidence of getting thru a full game.

Massive call on Jones. Melksham was worse and he isn’t our ex captain and does not have nearly as many credits in the bank. He is on thin ice. Neal Bullen did a lot more than him and yet he is dropped. Seems unfair, although I’m not fan of ANB.

Interesting that not a lot of defense regarding Jones's dropping, if this had happened 12 months ago, this site would have been awash with protest. But we all watched him last week, if they are going to persist with him, why not play him FF

It's sad to say for Jones, but Melksham has more upside.

We can't tolerate repeat performances from him like last week, and there's now ANB and Jones outside the 22 pushing for his spot, but if he turns it around it improves us far, far more than if Jones turns his form around. Melksham's link between half-back and the forward line in 2018 was critical to our success and will do wonders for us if/when he gets that back.

I feel for Jones (obvious) and ANB (given he wasn't our worst last week) but for both, their omission is justifiable IMO.

No Fantasia, no Heppell for Johnnie Weasel and his injectors, with our full list, some good in's with AVB, Hanna and Wilson Pickett, it is basically a must win now!

Will you and Wilson be celebrating at the Sunday Eve disco with a karaoke duet of "In the Midnight Hour" or commiserating with "Mama Told Me Not To Come"?

Not tall but not exactly short either. I figure that’s how they think we will compete.

The team looks good on paper to me, despite the lack of height. Hard running and using the space of the MCG will hold us in good stead.

Might be a case of kicking to whoever is NOT near Hooker/Hurley.  An interesting team rule.  And whoever IS being marked by them can just go for a run.  It's a bit like sharking the opposition ruck when you know they will win the taps!

Melksham was worse but I think they're slightly different players. For forward line structure I think Melksham is more important.

I'm a little worried about the fitness of players as well, but perhaps their banking on the fact that Vanders did a large body of work in the pre-season. I think Vanders was actually ahead of Bennell fitness wise.

Weid, ANB, and Oscar are all players that people have long believed to be Goody's favourites. I think it's quite telling that all three  (and Jones) aren't playing.

Small forward line...

You can almost guarantee that we will bomb the ball in again like we did against WC.

Goody will then be talking about the problem with connection...

He's going to have to own that one sooner of later.

Yes l noticed on the latest MFC podcast where they interviewed both the wingers, when they were asked their favourite positions to play apart from the Wing, he nominated the Ruck. Apparently when the Giants played the WCE previously, when the giant’s ruck an was injured in warmup he stepped in and Rucked all day quite successfully. Could have a hidden talent which could come in handy.

I took that as sarcasm, I think he hated it.

I like the team that will run out on Sunday. It has flexibility, speed and an unorthodox structure that may well be difficult to coach against.

In defence it will be interesting to see Rivers back up his game from last week and with Salem and Harmes we have a coiple of players that can fill midfield roles when/if required. For cover in defence e have Smith off the bench and Fristch has served back there a well. Tomlinson is our ultimate Inspector Gadget. He runs well on the wing, can play second ruck as well as go forward or back.

Midfield has a lot of grunt in the middle with Viney, Oliver, Petracca and Brayshaw. Melksham, Harmes and AvB in support at some center bounces. Hunt, Bennell and Hannan can run the wings a well when required.

In the forwards I hope that there is a clear plan A and a clear plan B. We have a lot of options that can run through there but I want to see clear structures good delivery. (If only). TMac to run and launch at every thing that remotely comes his way and coaches to ensure that there is a fleet at his feet to feed off the crumbs.

We need to feed off a dominance in the middle and to look at linking well into the forward 50.

Dees by 3 goals

No agree BD  Jay  should be in defence toAssist  if Tippa gets loose.

Will be regular by end of season

Demon 11 fails to appreciate the pace and skill as he breaks lines which we need from defence. P

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
